Ottawa and Detroit

Do people consider these teams as contenders for the playoffs? Are they a reasonable yardstick against which to measure the Canucks?

Right. But I think these teams have a better shot than we do. Yet their stats (goals/points) are worse than ours. Why is it that the Canucks don't inspire confidence, despite being top 8 in the league?

Contenders for the cup?

Ottawa aren't. It's one thing to pull off some magic tricks in the regular season, but to win the cup you usually need the players. I don't see how they can beat top teams with that line up.

I don't really think Detroit are either to be honest. They aren't the same team they used to be.

I'd compare Vancouver more to Detroit than Ottawa. Ottawa are a team building towards their prime still.

Out of all three I think the Canucks probably have the best chance, but that chance rides on Kesler's health among other things.
