Pyrene
No it doesn't. What it means is that in those time intervals MG was calling the other teams too to see if they had decided to agree on his asking price.
theminister
if you look at what Dregar said... Scrivens + picks. Scrivens, 1st rounder + 2nd rounder? or Scrivens 1st rounder + 3rd rounder? I don't think thats too much to ask.
B_a_M
Oh man thanks for me making laugh everyone. Why does everyone want to make a trade for a sake of making a trade? Everyone cryed about getting a Centre, what does GIllis do? Goes out and gets Derek Roy for a 2nd and Connauton. People complain that Roy won't do anything and won't produce. Then also complain about trading Connauton, where he wasn't in the Canuck future because he can't play defense and wouldn't last in the NHL. Move on to the trade deadline day and people complain Gillis didn't make one trade at all. He called the leafs many times with different deals all got turned down, it takes two teams to make a trade. This trade deadline day was a lot different from past years since there is still a lot of buyers rather than sellers. is this team going to compete for the cup most likely not but why trade for players like Torres? Would that put the Nucks over the top heck out. Just going into the trade deadline all you have to look at is what trading pieces does the Canucks actually have. All they have is Luongo and that deal was pretty much not going to get down at all, since Gillis wanted a roster player which make sense for depth purposes. ccc44
Look at your source. Dreger and Nonis are family. There is absolutely no indication that the Canucks budged at all or that T.O. was the only team they were talking to.

rotiman187
Not too bad of a deadline. -Good trade for Roy -Thank MG for not getting Pominville with the price wild paid -Torres would have been nice -Clowe chose nyr over van not mg's fault -Still hoped we had shipped Lu out. Bruce Boudreau
Gillis has managed the Luongo situation very badly from the start. It should have been an open competition for the #1 goalie job instead of declaring Schneider the starter and putting Luongo on the block for every one to know. Had he kept it under wraps that Luongo was being shopped and it wasn't so obvious like it is now they easily could have found a team last summer to do the deal. Now it is a headache and distraction for all parties involved. Trade Luongo in the summer and then fire Gillis and A.V if they make another early playoff exit. ccc44
Hard to keep in under wraps when Luongo said it's time to move on after the playoff exit last spring.

theminister
Yep. Over a year and Luongo still hasn't been dealt. How much longer is he going to make him wait!
