I get the feeling that if some pro-Israeli group decides to put out an ad about how Israel was the victim of the Arab-Israeli war, the Six-day war, Yom Kipper and regular bombardment by extremists.... there will be lots of folks complaining and vandalizing.

Except that both Jews and Arabs were being killed:

http://en.wikipedia....atory_Palestine

The Brits, by this point, were taking the side of the Arabs, because they wanted access to oil resources. Arabs, however, were also killing Brits. I'm also sure the Arabs had their own derogatory term for Jews too. It was a state of total warfare. This was not an instance of rich Jews attacking poor sheep herders. The Arabs were backed by the Arab Legion and were well equiped.

This was a tit for tat all out battle. Irgun arose as the most hard core and ruthless of the Jewish militant organizations. There were, however, equally ruthless groups on the Arabs' side who perpetrated similar massacres.

It's pretty ironic though that people are supporting the British against the evil Zionists, because 28 Britains (moslty soldiers) died in the King David Hotel. Meanwhile how many citizens died in Dresden, when the British decided to burn it down for fun. The British are responsible for the deaths of countless millions in the establishment of their empire. 28 Britains is nothing.

Except to the families and friends of the people killed of which my family is one You are so worldly wise aren't you Taxi talking about death in such a cavalier way , have you been to war ? have you ever seen a person die ? I have never been this offended by anything that has been posted on these boards before , how would you like it if some one mocked and trivialised the death of some one that you cared about , board rules forbid me to speak further from my heart. You rationalise the death of the british soldiers by bringing up the fire bombing of Dreseden which was payback for the fire bombing of Coventry , I agree that was a war crime , an example of the circle of hatred that wars and conflicts start , but what sane logical person justifies one act of violence with another that is totally unrelated. People like you are part of the problem you will always find a reason to kill, our species will never truly evolve while mentalities like yours exist.

If the issue we should be focusing on is the suffering of Palestinians, the ads should be focusing on the UN and the Arab League as well. Don't get me wrong, Israel does have a role in all this but the UN and the Arab League has perpetuated the refugee plight.

Palestinian refugees fall under UNRWA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Relief_and_Works_Agency_for_Palestine_Refugees_in_the_Near_East

while all other refugees fall under UNHCR. UNRWA has a totally different set of criteria for refugees which if you read into further, will find that it perpetuates the problem though generations.

Former UNRWA director, Alexander Galloway says it best when it comes to the Arab states committment on helping the Palestinians. “It is perfectly clear than the Arab nations do not want to solve the Arab refugee problem. They want to keep it as an open sore, as an affront against the United Nations and as a weapon against Israel. Arab leaders don’t give a damn whether the refugees live or die.”

Considering how rich many Arab states are from their oil, Palestinians could have easily been resettled in the rest of the Arab world. Unfortunately, they seem to hate Israel more than they want to help the Palestinians.

The situation is worse than you are letting on.

Any arab who had been in what is now Israel for more than 2 years or any of their descendants was classified as a Palestinian and stripped of all other citizenship and property.

An example of this is Yasser Arafat's father. His family was Egyptian and had owned property there. He was declared a Palestinian and the government confiscated his land. Yasser Arafat, was born in Egypt and had grandparents who were Egyptian. However, since his father was Palestinian that automatcially meant he was Palestinian. Arafat and his family of hundreds were now barred from being anything but Palestinian and owning property anywhere in Egypt. This despite the fact many were part or entirely "Egyptian", as prior tp 1949, there was no border and people moved freely. The same rules apply in most of the other Arab states. Not a single one will offer anyone who qualifies as a Palestinian property or citizenship.

The only Arab country to offer citizenship to any Palestinians is Jordan.

The maps are not accurate.

The British Mandate of Palestine included all of what is now Jordan, Israel, and the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Map #1 labels what is now Israel and the West Bank and Gaza Strip as "Palestine".

The 4 maps compare different things and label them all the same. Map #1 shows Jewish towns in British Mandate Palestine. Map #2 shows the UN partition plan, which never came into being. Map #3 shows the armistance lines following the 1967 war. Map #4 shows current areas under political control of the Palestinian Authority.

I wonder if a pro-Israel group decided to put up ads saying things like "100% of Palestinians are terrorists", they'd see the same support?

What you do to make positive change in the world is your choice. So is feeling paralyzed into not doing anything.

Your attitude always seems to be that small things, even discussion and raising awareness, are a waste of time.

The world is not made up of big things. It is made of of uncountable small actions.

Israelis are also being persecuted by Palestinians. It's a military conflict. An the fact you equate it to the holocaust is discusting. If the middle east conflict was anything like the holocaust, there would be no conflict, as there would be no Palestinians.

Palestinians are the fastest growing population in the world. During the holocaust, the Jews were the fastest shrinking.

If anything, it sounds like we need a public education program on what is actually going on in the middle east. A lot of misinformation if you think it's anything like the holocaust.
