  1. I would think we should see what he contributes during the entire year before even broaching that issue. I really like Santorelli's play to date. and in fairness to him I won't personally even label him to any line until what a full year of his play with the team shows, That I say would be the smart thing to do.
  2. If Kassian is going to make his mark with this team it has to be this year. If the team does poorly in the playoffs, I expect to see a couple of core players being traded. If that happens (not saying it will), Kassian coupled with a core player might be a possible trade. The eastern teams like Boston and Philly like big strapping players with potential and grit. Kassian might attract the attention of an eastern team.
  3. I find a good face palm by itself once in a while is great. It displays involvement, respect, intelligence and the willingness to just be their for someone even though you have nothing of interest to say. It is the mark of a very smat individual who likes to contribute whenever he thinks he can.
  4. I will be the first to admit that I have been extremely tough on Kassian during the last couple of weeks. Tonight I noticed him out there and that is a compliment to him. As one poster did say, if he can play that well tonight, where has he been the last few games. I hope he can build on tonight's game and get some of his confidence back. If he does, that will definitely say something about his character. Let's hope the contribution he made tonight will continue all season. Time will tell. Good luck Zack.
  5. You are right, no one here would care if he was on another team. The fact remains he needs to learn from the bottom up ie more AHL experience. He needs to get more self esteem, confidence and a roots level knowledge of the game. It is obvious he is lacking that. Putting him on the power play May pot him another goal or two yes but in the long run, that will not fix his problem. As John Garret stated the other night, a goal scored by him only leads to more expectations of him. He is not ready for those expectations. He does not know how to handle that additional responsibility. I seriously believe giving him more NHL responsibility at this juncture in his learning curve will be his demise. He is not consistent, or mature enough to be handed those reins and if he should falter in any way a potentially good career will be once again lost. I don't for one minute hate Kassian. Through no fault of his own he has been placed in a delicate situation and is lost. I believe he is being mismanaged and all too many believe his potential will thrive in the NHL if he is put into positions of more responsibility. Yes he has some potential but has it been grossly over evaluated at this juncture of his career? I attribute his inadequate effort, the display of being lost out there and having no confidence is solid evidence that he needs help other than what he is getting now. Once again, that help can only be given to him in the AHL where he can play more minutes, feel less responsible and subsequently regain the confidence everyone saw when he was drafted. It may take a year but it would be better for him than this dismal experience he is now being given.
  6. Kassian is under achieving and that is fact. He is a lost soul because he was not given proper opportunity to learn to play in the AHL. That is his only factual excuse. A big one at that. He needs to be sent down until he can play at a level he needs to be at in the NHL. Hoping for anything more for him in the NHL at this juncture in his career is utterly ludicrous. What benefit can be gained by him or the team by allowing him to furiously continue to tread water where he is. They must allow him a better opportunity to swim or sink. He deserves that. With respect to your remarks about Hodgson, I see nothing factual or possible in them. You indicate that you cannot find a single instance where a teams leading scorer achieved less than 60 points. I find it difficult to understand where you are going with that. Do you mean a full season? As you recall last year was a short season due to the lockout, he was traded the year before to Buffalo half way through the season. This year we are only a third into the season and you suggest the silly 60 point rule in regards to a team's leading scorer. Good try on that one friend! Of course he hasn't scored 60 points since he has been with Buffalo he has not played a full season with them yet. For Gods sake man, Crosby, Ovechkin, or Stamkos haven't even hit the 60 point mark yet this season, how do you suggest Hodgson is inept at attaining that goal. Think about how ridiculous your remark and reasoning comes across to others.
  7. You can't argue against the fact that nothing = nothing. So, it really isn't too early to call Kassian a disappointment. A big disappointment. Therefore, disappointment = nothing. Q.E.D.
  8. They can't because they have no bench mark to compare what he has done yet. Nothing = nothing.
  9. I noted Alberts out there tonight but I sure as hell did not notice Kassian. For a while there I thought he might be a healthy scratch until I saw him sitting on the bench.
  10. Excuses, excuses, and more excuses. If Kassian is on that hit list, does it mean, he gets a pass and can remain a pylon for the rest of the season. The guy has done squat in his last 15 games and yet his compassionate fans continue to make excuses for his lack luster (equals nothing) play, game in and game out. He needs to go down to the AHL and learn how to play hockey and maybe after he has been schooled there he might get another opportunity to play with the Canucks. The key word is "might" there because he hasn't proved he is capable to be here now. The guy has the world by the tail right now and he isn't smart enough to take advantage of it. All his supporters say he has the tools. Well did he sell those tools at a garage sale?
  11. Kassian can't hold a candle to Santorelli. Take your rose colored Kassian glasses off when you watch the next game and then tell me who the best player is.
  12. Exactly, but unfortunately the only negotiation expertise many of the posters here have is making a deal to buy a pack of cigarettes with a ten dollar bill and I bet they still won't get the change right. In essence you are talking to yourself as they don't understand the logistics of contracts or trade negotiations. They have great difficulty walking and breathing at the same time so it is easily understood why they make these brainless suggestions under the anonymity of the internet. They can remain less embarrassed about their remarks when no one knows who they are.
  13. And this is not a grade five class in which a student gets as many chances he needs to get through the year. When does a coach get to make a decision on a player? When those who favor that player say so or when the coach says enough is enough. The old saying is crap or get off the pot and that is what Torts is saying to Kassian. That was my point. In essence Kassian is taking a roster spot over someone else be it a vet or rookie.
  14. Why would you give him something he does not deserve. That is not fair to the players who would like the same opportunities he has not cashed in on. How many passes will Torts give him? I am thinking he is exhausting his chances with the team. Maybe this scratch will send a message to him. Will he be smart enough to comprehend what that message is trying to tell him?
  15. You are right. Lou should be rested more often and that would be good for Lack as well. I hope Lack plays tomorrow as well.
  16. Just wondering, is 10 or 31 your IQ score.
  17. You are not out to lunch at all; just thinking outside the box and that is constructive. Henrik and Daniel are pretty sharp and common sense guys. They are personally aware of the fact that they have reached the prime level of their careers and that in the future their play will start to fade. I believe they will take that into consideration when negotiating their final contract with Gillis. Unlike some players who can only see dollar signs, no matter what juncture they are in their career, the Sedins have enough character and the morals to ask what is fair predicated on their level of play and productivity. IMHO they will be most interested in term rather than the money to simply finish their careers as Canucks. I expect to see something like 5M for 4/5 years which I believe is more than fair to the team and the twins.
  18. Hank and Dank forever Canucks. End of story.
  19. I don't have to make that case. The people in the know who work for the Canucks and have a special expertise for knowing good players when they see them have decided to sign them instead of letting them walk. That is all the case I need. You are the one that has suggested they be traded, so the ball is in your court to debate why they should be traded. Good luck.
  20. Ditto to you as well. Quit reading the dumb posts, you will inherit dumb as well.
