  1. Would it not be more sensible to wait to see how they both do in the NHL at a higher level of play before you predict who might be better? There sure are a lot of crystal balls out there
  2. Virtanen is too young for the NHL. He will play junior again next year.
  3. The guy scored 30 goals last year for Boston and you talk crap like that. Give your head a shake. Even Rip van Winkle woke up.
  4. You are calling people "dum" when you can't even spell the word? Appears your English, sentence structure, punctuation and spelling is not conducive to a learned individual either. You need to understand that being rude and crude to others can be turned around to bite you back. By the way, Garrison was not drafted by the Canucks so why do you consider him a "wasted pick"? So you got it all wrong my friend. Try calming down, you are not at your best when you appear to be upset.
  5. Why question who is better between those players? Your team selected Virtanen and that should really be enough to cheer him on. He is big and strong, a great skater and has a sniper shot. Considered to be a power forward. They could have., should have scenarios are nothing but water under the bridge. They mean nada. I believe Benning is just getting started here, especially when he has dumped a good chunk of salary just trading Cryin Ryan and Garrison. Can't wait for free agency time. Wanna bet there will be more surprises to come. It could be pleasing to say the least.
  6. The trick on CDC is to distinguish the comedians from the trolls. Half of the nay sayers here are trying to pull your chain. Don't worry about the others, they are bored because school is out.
  7. Idaho...ped you wouldn't have asked me that as I don't wear cloths like Delaware..s. I am a Ghana.
  8. Don't you mean the bozos on Team 1040. They haven't got a rumour right yet
  9. IMVHHO there is the difference between night and day between Willie and Crow. Willie does not yell at the players like Crow. Benning has indicated he likes a calm and collected coach who can maintain the respect of players. I believe a yelling Tortorella lost the entire dressing room last year and he was subsequently tuned out; a big reason why so many good players had such a crappy year. That is also why Linden stated he wanted players to reestablish the want to play again. The entire team was not a very happy crowd.
  10. Let's just hope the Vancouver fans will stay tolerant long enough for Trevor to prove himself before they turn on him for not meeting their immediate expectations.
  11. Negativity runs rampant in these forums but then again what has anyone got to lose by trying to forecast what will or will not happen with the Nucks. A coaching change sure helped the Kings but I never want to see a losing team again just to get a low draft pick. Go figure that one out. Peaches: when someone pays what we pay to see a game, I expect to see a winner playing, not a loser. Please stick your idea about losing to get a low draft pick in your ear
  12. A little different with coaches. If they are no good, you just fire them
  13. Neither team quit in the series. IMO the Kings were more tenacious. It is all a game of luck and inches. A stick in the way, a puck that stops on the goal line, pucks that hit the crossbar or post. An inch either way. Would those puck have stopped on the line on fresh clean ice? Having said that though, when a team never stops, the breaks all go in their favor.
  14. I was not trying to be sarcastic nor was I trying to suggest losing the SCF was shameful. NY played very very well. I enjoyed all five hockey games and IMVHO I was treated to some of the best hockey I have seen. The problem with making a very simple statement on CDC is, there is so much sarcasm that runs rampant here that some just can't distinguish between sarcasm and gleaning the context out of a harmless and simple statement made by someone else. As a matter of fact, I was trying to be a bit compassionate towards AV. I was not trying to knock his coaching tactics during the series nor was I being critical of him. Three statements (1) second best - true. (2) just cannot make it over the top - true. (3) is that a stigma he will be able to overcome - very simple question. Will he ever be a SC winner? We all know it is hard to get to the finals; he has been there twice; will he get there again in his tenure as a coach?
  15. Second best again. AV just cannot make it over the top. Is that a stigma he will never over come?
  16. Your point in this regard is falling on deaf ears. It has been posted about ad nauseam. Nothing will change. Social median and an endless variance of opinion. Might as well fart back at thunder.
  17. Not even in a Vancouver fan's perfect hockey world. The suns, stars and planets would need to be aligned to even get close to your fantasy
  18. Then is it your opinion he will go with a rookie coach or a seasoned coach if it is easy to decipher. By saying no to whether or not he would hire an experienced coach he is leaving every option open. Your opinion is just a guess like mine as is your non committal post
  19. Will an older core of players be receptive to a coach who has no NHL experience. This team is looking for an experienced, good communicating, fair and square person to work with them. IMHO those character traits are better found in a more seasoned NHL coach. However, Desjardins has had success during his coaching career so I will defer further opinion in that regard to the knowledge and experience of those who will hire him. I only want a coach who can work in harmony, instill confidence, enthusiasm and work in an atmosphere of mutual respect with his players. Leaders are very much graded on their credibility and experience by those who must follow them.
  20. I think a lot of us felt the same about Tortorella. At first I thought he was going to be a good coach however, when the whole team went south, it was obvious that there was only one common denominator that was instrumental in all the team troubles and that was the coach. How can so many good players play so badly all at one time? I am glad he is gone as well
  21. Could not be explained any better. A coach can always claim he is going to make his players accountable yet overlook the fact that he is not accountable himself. When a team plays poorly, using the accountability excuse further erodes the credibility of a losing coach. Good coaches insert themselves fully into the integral part of a team. They can garner confidence, understanding, willingness, respect and above all, credibility with players. They image themselves as one of the group yet can remain separate as an authority to be respected. The do as I say , not as I do scenerio is a failing management technique because respect and forthrightness is always lacking with that style. It does not make one ounce of difference if a coach has previously won a Stanley cup. It is what a coach does in the present to be successful that far outweighs what he has done in the past. I like to think being consistently successful is more of a bench mark by which a person is evaluated.
  22. My sentiments exactly. It was AVs time to go as it was Gillis' time to leave. I am awaiting the chances Trevor will make and wish him luck. He has some tough choices to make in the next few weeks.
