  1. Stay. Maybe even make him GM! At least Torts has the guts to be real and call it the way it is, and he genuinely does seem to care enough to render an honest and viable opinion.
  2. Good. This time around, the right guy finally got the boot. The next step should be to trade away, or otherwise dispose of, some of the underperforming dead-weight. It really doesn't matter if big names and NTC's are involved. This team needs a leader who is strong enough and resourceful enough to remove several well paid guys who can barely put in a part-time effort.
  3. Sorry, but we're talking cloud cuckoo land here. Okay, it's not over 'til it's really over. But, to all intents and purposes, it's over. The best the Canucks can do before they hit the golf course is gain some perspective on where they are, and maybe dig themselves out of their rut sufficiently to salvage some pride prior to the 2014-2015 season. Torts has taken a beating on these boards, and unjustly so. Considerably so! But, MG? Well, despite all the posturing about "player development" when he first took office here (maybe he should really have said "goalie-development", because that's just about the only item of ANY substance at all that has occurred during his reign) let's hope he does something worthwhile this off-season! No, I'm sorry, let's DEMAND he does something worthwhile this off-season, or alternatively Fly Off! As my good friend Forrest would say, "that's all i have to say about that!"
  4. Good that they finally traded Lu. Not "good" to lose him, but he deserves to be away from this team so that he can play his rightful position, as a #1 goaltender. Unfortunate we did not move Kesler. Although he is starting to put up better numbers again, just keep wondering how long it's going to last. Glad we didn't sell the farm and do something stupid like trade the Sedins, because even though they are in a slump and have had injuries, they are going to rise again. MG needs to extract thumb from rectal passage and get some proper trades done this Summer. No more excuses, this team needs goal scorers, and to quit relying so heavily on stellar goaltending. Don't expect any playoff action this year, but if the proper trades get done this Summer, next year should be a good one.
  5. It is good that Lu finally gets to move on and regain his rightful spot as a No.1 goaltender. Despite taking it on the chin from the local media and certain parts of the fan base, Lu managed to hold his head high and was always loyal to the team and his fellow players. Good luck Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
  6. Lack of scoring is a problem, period. It must be becoming obvious to Torts that MG has been delaying the inevitable. Making some bold moves. It's understandable that no GM wants to give up true talent. But, GM's don't get paid for being nostalgic and protective of under performing big names. They do have to occasionally give up something of value to ensure a secure future for their teams. The Sedins are about the most consistent of the bunch, and it's very tempting to keep them around for that very reason. On the other hand, the Sedins have considerable value and at this stage of their career it would be a good idea to package them up sometime over the next 6 months in return for solid grit and scoring up front. Include Kesler, Booth and Kassian in that package. All of who are taking up valuable space on the ice (and in terms of cap space) with little to no return. Kesler and Booth should be hitting the back of the net at least every other game. We are not seeing that. The sad realization is, we are not going to see that. It's time to recognize the writing on the wall, make those bold trades, and move on.
  7. If true, it was time for him to go. He was a good coach, and will have no problems finding a new coaching position. It is glaringly obvious that, whilst the current roster of players can grind out wins in the regular season against the more physical teams, they have very limited success against those same teams in the Playoffs. Canucks Management are well aware of the style of hockey that is played, and how it is officiated, in the Playoffs. They have failed to build the team accordingly. This falls on MG's head. It also falls on the head of an under-performing squad of players who left their best behind them somewhere in the 2011 SCF finals. Good luck AV.
