For a group that's supposed to be committed to "Player Safety" they sure don't like to make the game safer for players. It doesn't even seem like any fault is to NN. No "next time just don't make that hit" or "try to keep low and square to avoid the head and only hit shoulder/chest area" seems like all they have said is "clean hit, we want more players to hit like this"
Well after reading the tweets and looking at their photos. I see their point from that angle of view, But as videos that have been posted here show the initial contact is with the head. As well as the chicken wing after with the raised elbow. This is the part that shows NN tried to get every piece of Burrows with the hit and did not try to avoid contact with the head.
Just read Fraser view on the tsn article. He seems to think the contact with the head could have been avoidable. Guess the NHL never got a video to watch, just the picture they tweeted.
Rule 48.1 (i) (ii) (iii) provides lots of 'reasons' to determine whether contact with an opponent's head was avoidable. Practically all of these allowances place considerable onus on the recipient/victim of the hit. From (iii) Alexandre Burrows did not "materially change the position of his body or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way that significantly contributed to the head contact." The material change in position came from Nino Niederreiter. If the rule verbiage doesn't qualify hits of this nature as a "head pick," at the very least it needs to be acknowledged that significant contact resulted from an illegal hit to the head in an ongoing effort to hold players accountable.
Looking at the standings I think we will land at best 4th and at worse 10th. We have so many games played over teams and only a few points on them.
If Dal Colle falls to us I would think it's the best to pick him over a Perlini or Virtanen.
It is possible someone like Ehlers falls to late in the draft like Shinkurak, and if we make a trade and get a later draft pick we should take a chance on Ehlers.
I'm also pretty high on taking Josh Jacobs with our second round pick.
you can't ask players to lose. If this team goes down fighting a loses every game for the rest of the season. Well that's great we get a higher draft pick. But there is no way a coach or a GM will ever ask his players to lose. Players don't care about draft picks and getting "_______" it's their job and that player could cost then their job
We can still get a top 10 draft pick even winning just the odd game. This team isn't going to win 10+ of their remaining games.
So your telling me we could potentially get:
Perlini, Dal Colle, Draisaltl with our first
Virtanen with our second
And if we trade kesler, Jacobs or Tuch later in the first?
Dal Colle, Jacobs, virtanen would be nice out of the first and second round
