They didn't have really have other options. JT Miller was the only one of their top 9 forwards that didn't have a NTC - he actually did but it wasn't kicking in until July 1. I do agree they decided to trade Miller because of what they were getting and they were never going to get that from one of the players they would have to try and force to waive their NTC which they may not have done... That said it doesn't change the fact he was traded to free up cap space which makes it a cap dump trade.

Even if the puck is in view and not covered.. which for arguments sake let say was the case.. JT Miller still pushes Allen out of the way to get at the puck.. He is interfering with Allens ability to stop the puck. It was 100% worth challenging and from all angles I see and ways of breaking it down at very high likelihood of being overtuned.

https://www.nhl.com/canucks/video/miller-jams-puck-past-allen/t-277437438/c-5406177 okay here you go look at the very last view with like 5 seconds left in the video... that is goaltender interference.. even Louie debrusk says as much. That puck is 100% covered by Allen and it's only JT Miller pushing the glove that puts it in. I just can't see that not being called back on a challenge..

The view from behind doesn't show the puck from when it was under the glove and in any regard JT Miller still pushed Allen out of the way to get at the puck. That one angle from the front that they showed zoom in to me shows a pretty high likelyhood of goaltender interference especially when all other angles don't show definitively that the puck is free.. unless there is some angle I haven't seen which may be the case.

No, it's not. A cap dump is a player traded because you need to clear cap space. You have to dump cap in-order to be compliant with the cap. JT Miller was traded to dump cap. He was not going to be traded if Tampa didn't need to get under the cap. The player does not need to have a terrible contract to be considered a cap dump. Everyone knew Tampa had to dump cap which is why they weren't going to get full value for whoever they traded. Vancouver paid a pretty fair deal which is why Tampa did the deal so quickly. You clearly don't know what bigot means.

Which is why I said we can't blame the refs for this game. I looked at again the replays they show on NHL.com and Twitter and they are from behind or far out and you can't see Allens glove on the puck. But there is replay out there that clearly shows Allen put his glove over the puck and Miller just rams it out and in the net. I was just surprised on the no challenge and I think it's just cause Vancouver is so deadly on the PP.

We cannot blame the refs last night. On Motts second goal there could have been a penalty and JT Miller's goal should have been no goal. I cannot believe Berube didn't challenge it. Just goes to show what a good PP can do. He was definitely afraid of giving Vancouver a PP. If you watch the replay of the JT Miller goal Allen has the puck under his glove and Miller pushes it out... I was sure it was coming back.

I am not re-writing anything. A cap dump is a player you trade because you are up against the cap. Marleau wouldn't be traded if the leafs weren't cap strapped and neither would JT Miller. Tampa needed to dump cap and JT Miller was the contract they chose to dump. JT Miller having value doesn't magically make it a non cap dump trade. You've defined what cap dump is yourself and now anyone who doesn't see it the way you defined you are calling them hard headed... I disagree with what you've defined as a cap dump. If Pearson is traded because we need to get rid of salary that is a cap dump. Teams will try to offer less in-order to get Pearson.. They will likely be like you've got some cap issues there instead of giving you a 3rd we will give you a 5th. If you have to move a player because of cap-related problems that is a cap dump trade as far as I am concerned to be clear.

Lehner hasn't played anywhere near as bad a Binnington. Do I give the edge to Markstrom over Lehner absolutely but Markstrom will be far busier as he has been in the St.Louis series. That said Fleury is healthy and he has had one iffy game and one pretty good game. If Fleury plays like he can he is an absolute wall. Fleury is coming in for Lehner if he struggles not Allen who is a career average goalie. Allen hasn't really made any big time saves.. He has made some good saves but there isn't really anything that stands out.. He had a good game 4 but aside from that he's been average. You are underestimating Theodore big time, the kid is severely underrated. St.Louis should have a lot better D depth but they haven't played like it. Their D have not been great. You look at them on paper and they should be able to shut teams down and they have struggled mightily this playoffs. Not to take anything away from Vancouver but I just don't think they have shown much of their A game aside from game 4 which I thought they played pretty well. I am not getting ahead of anything. I am not the one inferring that we can easily beat Vegas after St.Louis who we were able to pounce due to some pretty poor goaltending. I am actually saying beating St. Louis doesn't mean we just easily walk over every team that comes next. St. Louis played poorly in the qualifying and first 2 games of our series. If we do get past them I highly doubt the next team is going to be anything like that. It will be a much harder series especially with our injuries piling up.

JV goal was not highly skilled.... he literally shot it from a terrible angle and it dribbled in off Allens pants. He just threw it at the net hoping it would go in and it did. It was not a snipe top corning. Vegas is much better team than St.Louis. St. Louis has gotten poor to mediocre goaltending with the exception of game 4 when Allen played well. Vegas will not get poor goaltending and they have 4 solid lines that can score plus one hell of number 1 dman in Theodore.

He absolutely was a cap dump for Tampa. He also was not being used as a top 6 forward in Tampa, he was playing on the third line. For whatever reason Tampa under utilized him and as soon as he came to Vancouver he showed what he could do with top 6 minutes. He had a NTC kicking in and Tampa decided to offload him before it was active. If you look at Tampa's team it doesn't make a lot of sense as to why they traded him. They are all skill and no grit and JT Miller is both that is probably why JB was so thrilled to land him.
