  1. Learn the laws, learn the customs, learn an official language or get out. Your culture, native tongue, religion are not an issue but I am sick and tired of our government and citizens bending over backwards and making special exceptions for landed immigrants. I wish we were more like Australia with our immigration laws.

Immigration is a very important and needed part of our economy but if you are going to disrespect the country you are benefiting from by refusing to accept our customs, laws and official languages here then you simply do not belong here.

Exactly proves my point above. That ad is disrespecting the country??

  2. Kinda sounds like you're the one hating here? By stereotyping "Canadian white people" who, by the way, all think individually and for themselves. Way to just lump us all in together like we're ground meat. That's a weak argument...to suggest someone's "hating" when they present an opinion that you find unfavourable. So start by cleaning up your own back yard and not assuming that all "Canadian white people" hate and are sensitive.

I'll comment after work, when I have more time.

It's just reality weather you like it or not. You are just speaking for yourself, but lets get real. Every time there is a story about minorities, certain people always take the chance to bash them. and turn it into a "this is our country" discussion just like Warhippy, the person I was responded to did.

Reading his post, why does it sound like he has so much anger and hate? Why does it bother him so much? i'm not Chinese I could never read that advertisement but I could care less. Yet again he took this chance to bash virtually every other race living in Canada.

  3. Nope

Because of Canada's language laws ALL advertising and store frontage needs to be recognizable in english. This is a serious source of issue in central and Eastern Quebec where the predominant language is french but they ALL have to be in english as well.

Honestly, we give up WAY to frigging much kow towing to every single frigging special interest or minority group out there.

My kid almost couldn't say Merry Christmas or Happy Halloween. Now no english speaking signs, single religion schools, exclusive stores that cater only to specific and recognized minority.

This is kind of frigging offensive really.

I refuse to be more "sensitive" to the issue

If you want to be Canadian, be Canadian. This includes our holidays our values or laws and our language laws.

Funny how much "Canadian white people" just hate every other minority and are so sensitive.

On one hand you guys want your freedom that includes freedom of speech, religion and all of that, but only for you guys. When someone else uses their freedom, you guys bitch and complain expect them to change for you...

  4. well now that gillis is gone i bet young guys get a better shot of filling out the roster over guys like hansen tostitos richards dalpe shroader ect.... ........at the end of the day 1 team didnt make the playoffs and has their draft pick playing in the minors and the other team got 14g 20a +20 out of their draft pick and are in the playoffs.... 1 guy has an enitre year of NHL experience under his belt that can do nothing but jump start his developement and the other guy is toiling in the league he cant learn anything else in. 5-10 minutes a night in the NHL for a 18 year old is far better than 15+ minutes a night playing against kids.

Have to agree. That's the thing, we didn't make the playoffs anyways with our experienced core and surrounding players. It was a write off season entirely. But it could have been 1 year of NHL experience for Horvat and others. And the players you mentioned, I don't care how young Horvat is, I think he his better than all of them.

It was an a wasted year in all aspects.

  5. Here's a long list of players drafted in 2003 who made their NHL debut after Nikolai Zherdev (who had 34 points in 57 games in his rookie season, by the way):

    Thomas Vanek

    Milan Michalek

    Dion Phaneuf

    Ryan Suter

    Braydon Coburn

    Jeff Carter

    Brent Seabrook

    Zach Parise

    Ryan Getzlaf

    Corey Perry

    Mike Richards

    Loui Eriksson

    Matt Carle

    Shea Weber

    David Backes

    Clarke MacArthur

    Tobias Enstrom

    Dustin Byfuglien

    Joe Pavelski

Would you honestly want Zherdev over any of these players simply because he played in the NHL first? Don't blame Horvat for not being on the roster, blame the management.

Enough with this instant gratification sh!t. It doesn't always work.

That's exactly who I blame. Again sorry I should not have started the whose better debated, that's not what I meant. I think Horvat will be great, I am happy with the pick. My real argument is of Horvat playing this season.

But this year is done, and now again I am saying Horvat better be a regular in the lineup next season. Give him the initial chance, just like most teams do.
