  1. Lots of athletes are playing largely for the biggest payday. They just won't tell you that publicly.
  2. The Canucks weren't exactly trending up with either of them.
  3. Just pointing out that Long Island is not a 'cesspool'.
  4. Always an important factor. He was our boy. In NYI, he's just their newest piece of meat.
  5. Dude, it's not NYC ... it's Long Island. Pretty damn nice place to live.
  6. Three years ago ... when he was relatively new around here. Won anything since?
  7. His behaviour on the ice and probably in the room. Not a happy camper, and can't control how he lets it out. The plunging scoring and atrocious defensive play is just the icing on a poison cake.
  8. And if he chose that rather than seeing July 1, well ... at least he chose his metric if importance.
  9. He could have stayed here and continued to lose. Then he would have had his sanity questioned, too.
  10. Hmm ...loaded question. Miller has turned out to be cancer, so yes.
  11. I thought the return was pretty good right off the bat.
  12. It's becoming difficult to reconcile with what $8M buys these days. I'm probably falling behind on that myself.
  13. When Horvat is back down to 25 goals/year in two years, that contract isn't going to look very good. Islander fans will immediately see that he is a very good player and then will come to realize he is not a difference-maker.
  14. The main thing I'm grateful for is the Canucks didn't sign that contract. Time to move on indeed.
  15. Gotcha. I still would have waited it out. A little less jack to wind up in a better place would have been my thinking. He's already spent 9 years of his career largely in a losing situation .
  16. Agreed. But I'm perplexed why he didn't wait to see July 1 as a FA. He would he have received some other similar offers in better situations than Long Island. Why give up the hammer to sign there?
  17. The Canucks were not dealing from a position of strength, Horvat was not re-signing here. Another thought is that it's tough to trade for a top-4 defenseman or a strong D prospect, which I will assume the Canucks were angling for out of necessity. I think this deal could go either way, it's all about development now. On paper, it's not that bad. Beauvilier's cap hit doesn't exactly thrill me, but that's a fairly minor gripe.
