Incredibly, Dubas is 3 times the GM Benning is. Even if that’s not saying much.

For whom?
If you base your premise on the idea that Boeser will never fully recover and a career third liner in Crowse will finally produce like a bonafide second liner (something Arizona’s been waiting 7 years for), sure, they’d be selling low. But I hope JR doesn’t think that way; that’d be the epitome of selling Boeser short and potentially overvaluing Crowse.
No matter. It’s been proven time and time again that the modern NHL rewards speed and skill, but I believe VanCity’s trauma from the Boston series still persists. Look no further than a traumatized MG pulling a 180 and going all-out for brawny less talented players. Didn’t work out for him at all.

Crowse has a far lower ceiling and I’m not really convinced he’s got enough in the tank to become a top-6 player.
I know crash and bangers have a certain allure but trading Boeser now for someone like Crowse would be the epitome of selling low.

I totally understand people laughing at Seattle for trying to inorganically manufacture a rivalry when there really isn’t one.
I just hope people can see this and realize the whole Vancouver-Boston rivalry idea some posters are still pushing is cringe. They don’t even give us a second thought (and why should they?).
-
Can’t believe people still insist on picking based on position/need even after Juolevi and Virtanen.
BPA has always been the way. I hope JR and co. do what needs to be done.

I just realized Jared McCann is almost at 40 goals.
GM Jim Benning: the gift that keeps on giving!

Great news. Hopefully this shows that keeping quiet/being passive in situations like these makes you just as guilty.
If that means Makar can't play for Canada while this investigation runs its course then so be it.

Well.
Not much clicked tonight. JT was doing his part...some of his set ups are so beautiful. Really deceptive because he can totally make it look like he's lining up a shot but then he makes a beautiful pass that catches the goaltender off guard and out of position. His usual half dozen hits or so.
Burroughs blocking shots like a warrior.
Turns out I'm going to all the home games this week...Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
Guess I'll see this thing through. Go Canucks Go.
Your overly-positive fixation on Miller is getting scary, Deb.

Hope they enjoyed their little run. Not like it cost us a high draft pick anyway.
Maybe now Hughes will stop threatening to leave. Or maybe he’ll pick it up again, who knows.

I know he’s a free pickup and all that but does he have a future in the NHL? He turns 24 in a few days.
edit. Also, does anyone know how many roster spots we have left?

Is this guy 22 years old or 22 years into fatherhood? Looks old af.

The most coveted players in the league are superstar centres who can do it all. How many centres in the NHL can score 100 points and also have a chance at winning the Selke trophy?
There are only 7 superstar centres in the NHL. And only Petey is a Selke trophy candidate. So he is in a class all by himself. Hughes on the other hand is in a class with several other players.
Both are superstars but Petey has no rivals. He is the most complete centre in the NHL.
I’d ask you to tell me where you draw the line on superstar center and who those 7 are, but I fear we’d be entering a never-ending subjective discussion.
I repeat: mobile, high-scoring, PP quarterback defensemen have historically been a rare commodity. Many of the posts in this thread tell me people are taking that for granted.
-
Hughes and it’s not even close.
Mobile, offensive defensemen that can quarterback a PP are the most coveted players in the league for a reason. -

From a recent comparable standpoint how would he compare to Jonah Gadjovich
This guy actually has skill. Gadjovich based most of his junior career bullying kids half his size in front of the net.

Let Adan compete with Brock. If that still doesn’t light a fire under Boeser’s ass, we trade him in the off-season.

He’s free. Let’s offer him whatever it takes to get him and the figure where he fits after.
I still second J-23’s question. Is this guy worth getting excited for? Does he project to be a top-4 D or is he just another placeholder until something better comes along?
-
This guy is not an NHL player. It’s only a matter of time before his draft pedigree rubs off completely and he finds himself out of a job in this league.

Jurmo, Klimovich, Hoglander, Bloom, Rathbone, Silovs, Petey D, Johansson, Raty, Lekkerimaki. Not sure how people can say our cupboards are bare…
You can’t just list our prospect cupboard on its own; you have to compare it to the rest of the league’s prospect pools.
I’d say that list you posted is in the bottom third. Definitely comparatively underwhelming to many teams in the league (but then again, the Canucks have never been about stocking up on prospects).

Don't agree with caving into premature trades because the current core is threatening to leave.
It's clear this team is no where ready to compete. "retooling on the fly" again will only lead to us having this very same conversation in 5 years time.
Not a fan of this trade.
-
I’m just happy I no longer get an impending feeling of doom every time the Canucks announce a trade. It used to be a matter of how much we lost the trade by.

What is it about Lockwood, that doesn't give an NHL future ?
He turns 25 in three months and, imo, doesn’t look close to becoming a full-time bottom six NHLer. I’m seeing the word prospect thrown around a lot with Lockwood but I wouldn’t consider him a prospect anymore.
-
Not against this trade for the simple reason that Lockwood doesn’t have an NHL future. But it’s also quite possible Kravtsov flops as well.
It’s a pretty nothing trade imo.

A Brock that doesn’t consistently score is not worth keeping. He’s not a playmaker.
We need to cut our losses while there’s still value.
It is time, JR. Guntrix gives the green light.

When are we going to have an honest conversation about all these misses from this management?
Really want to see the Canucks win in my lifetime but I'm having my doubts.
