I don't need someone's friend of a friend to tell me that, it's pretty obvious by watching him play. And it's great! If he can harness that emotion and use it to his advantage he's going to do just fine. Can you imagine if Kassian had that fire inside every time he hit the ice?

pretty much exactly. Bo fits a bottom nine role better than any of our other prospects right now. It's like Bur said in the article, you adapt to what types of holes the team needs filled if you want to stay up. While Jensen has probably earned his due more than Bo, he is not that great defensively, and is more suited to a top six role. Also if Bo can hone his face off skills (continuing like he did in his game against Anaheim) that is just another positive reason for keeping him around. Management has said they want a puck possession team, and one way to get the upper hand on puck possession is to win key face offs.

Exactly. I saw Bo being trusted out there with key defensive zone faceoffs and he was given minutes towards the last part of the third period when the game was all tied up, This is much more important to his development, in my opinion, than him going back and lighting up the scoresheet in junior. Bo was drafted for his two-way abilities, the offense will come.

Surprise surprise, one day it's send him back to junior he's not doing anything, then he has a great game and everyone changes their tune. Most young kids take a while to get their footing in the NHL, whether or not they go to the AHL first. Bo is a perfect fit for a fourth line role, playing low minutes while adjusting to being a professional hockey player. Does anyone have his faceoff stats from last night? Seemed like he dominated! Can't wait to see if Bo continues this trend against Chicago on Sunday.

The only way that is happening is if someone in the top nine gets injured or stops playing. All our call-ups so far from Utica have played sheltered minutes, barring maybe Jensen but he already has NHL experience, so I don't know where you get that idea. What I'm getting at is that people are saying "he gets 20 minutes in Junior, and 8 minutes in NHL, so junior is the better place for him". It is not that simple, and you basically support my statement afterwards anyways. He is being put around NHL pros, practices, training etc.... all very important to his development. He will be loaned to a junior program? Is that you Jim Benning?

I agree with most of what you said, except your statement on his value to the team. I don't think it's fair to say what his value to the team is or isn't quite yet. And back to my original point, everyone always focuses on quantity of minutes, being he'll get 20 in junior and less than 8 in the NHL. The 8 he gets in the NHL are very different than the 20 in junior. I'm happy either way.

No I really don't. The guy is getting a shot in the NHL at 18 years old... he shouldn't be playing 19 minutes a game. He is learning a ton from being around pros, practicing with them, and getting used to the speed of the game. We need to stop focusing so much on his number of minutes in his first six NHL games.

What's wrong with a rookie getting sheltered minutes on the 4th line, I seriously don't get that argument at all? He's only going to get better over time. I support whatever decision JB decides to make, keeping or sending down Bo will not change our season drastically. Plus, if they do send down Bo it only means a greater chance for Jensen, Gaunce or Shinkaruk to get a shot on the team when there are injuries.

I'm with J.R., Bo has been solid defensively, one of the main things Jim Benning has praised about him. Once he is with regular linemates I would expect to see some points from him.

The biggest difference I would say with Virtanen is his speed. We have lots of big bodies, you are correct there, but lots are lacking NHL speed. Virtanen has speed and size and a scoring touch. What isn't there to like? Also, we have Shinkaruk to develop into a pure goal scorer, that guy thrives on putting the puck in the net.

If his shoulder was bothering him he would not be throwing hits like that. Good to see!

I checked right after I posted this, and you're right. Wonder why that is, it's not like Calgary is very far away.

I hope he just tears it up in the WHL this year. I'll have to make sure to check out the Royals games when the Hitmen are visiting.
