Lend him to the Texas Stars and make the best of a bad situation.
Maybe in the future he'll be a bit more reasonable with his NTC because we let him play close to his family

Horvat plays with a bunch of bums, puts up 60+ points, takes 2000+ face-offs, beast on both ends of the ice, shuts down players. What more do people want from him...

As far as this trade goes. No clue why Calgary would go down this road. Neal is a perennial goal scorer who can still play the game. Methinks the flames want lucic to protect johnny hockey...
So glad this horse which has been beaten is finally dead (lucic to van)
Not the hero we wanted, but the hero we needed.

As much as I hated our team playing against him, I love this. A lot.

I think Ferland plays with Petey and Boeser. He’s the deterrent on that line.
fine by me! Best thing is you can mix and match the wingers based on who we're playing

I am confused - Pearson really clicked with Horvat - so why the hell are people putting him on the 3rd line??
Baer has clicked with Horvat since the beginning

Miller - Pettersson - Boeser
Baer - Horvat - Ferland
Virtanen - Gaudette - Pearson
Roussel - Beagle - Motte
Edler - Stetcher
Myers - Hughes
Benn - Tanev
Edit: I forgot Leivo

I think as others have said Baer is the odd man out and honestly I am ok moving Tanev as well
we would need to replace Tanev with someone like Risto

Ferland play center? Think it’s a bit premature to expect anybody on the roster (ie, Gaudette) to be able to handle Sutter’s tough defensive C assignments.
Beagle?

Hopefully Virtanen will learn a thing or two on how to play with size and with an edge.

woah, always kind of wanted Ferland, but was worried what he'd cost. Bit worried about our cap space at the moment

Wouldnt a 3 year deal be better for the Canucks if we're talking bridge?

Had we been able to add Nyquist, it would have been a spectacular day for Benning. However, because of the money tied up in bad contracts and the Luongo recapture penalty, we weren't able to do all we were able to do to improve the club. Still, Benn and Myers signed for less than they could have had, so today is still a pretty significant win. The defense is leaps and bounds improved.

Basically our divisional rivals, with exception to Colorado, didn't improve in any sort of way.
EDM/CAL have the same roster (EDM has Granlund for 1.3 mill), also picked up Mike Smith (formerly with Calgary).
Sharks and Golden Knights are the other two teams that are usually threatening, but SJ signed Karlsson to that overpriced contract and have let go of key players like Pavelski and (soon to be Thornton). Golden Knights remain the same.
Given how many times we play these divisional rivals, most of these should be pretty easy points. We should be at the very least in a playoff position.
There are no easy points in the NHL. Canucks have always struggled against teams "we should beat"

Which previous years did you expect us to make the playoffs? Bennings job is to build a true contender that can compete for years. So far he has done a pretty good job. Sure he's made some mistakes, but any new GM is going to have growing pains. What's important is he's learned and he's much better now
