Their forwards are not the problem.

Thinking Makar or Byram can step into Barries role seriously underrates what Barrie did for that team.

They’re going to score lots no doubt. That doesn’t always equaL playoffs though. Gotta keep the puck outta the net too.

Isn't Barrie not very good at doing that?

I'd like someone who's talented but I haven't heard of, somone not part of the old boy's club.

What do I want them to do different?  Well what I wanted to happen differently was I wanted Vancouver to load up on picks for the last few years.  It's too late, that's over.  He "went for it" instead of embracing the rebuild which is mostly why I want him fired.  Had no foresight that this team would be bad when it was obvious to everyone else.

So what needs to be done now?  Vancouver needs to win some trades, needs to spend wisely on signing and resigning players.  So at this point it's not doing something different, it's doing it better.  I don't think Benning is good at trades or contracts.  It's the scouts, not the GM that drafts players out of the top 10 for the most part so at this point what is Benning bringing to the table?  I guess it depends on your opinion of his trades and contracts.

And these types of people are readily available? If people are calling for Benning to be fired and replaced, shouldn't they have a name in mind for who they want to take over? Not just a vague idea of the type of person they would like; because right now that person is imaginary.

Things probably should've been done differently in the first 2 years Benning was here, but they weren't and it's time to let that go. Benning and Co are doing what needs to be done right now; yet people are overacting at every single move he makes.

Most of the negative is about the one trade.

Here's my take on the trade:

If Miller was a RFA, and we signed him to a offer sheet for 5.25 million, the compensation would be, oddly enough, a 1st and a 3rd. This is as per Capfriendly: https://www.capfriendly.com/offer-sheet-calculator

So, we got a guy that we value, who is under contract at a reasonable rate for the next 4 years, with cap certainty, for pretty much EXACTLY what it would have cost us to Offer sheet him. I believe putting a goalie in was to make contracts match and to give us more room to work through to free agency, in case additional opportunities arise.

So, I would say that this trade, regardless of all the bellyaching, at the end of the day, is fair, established value, and considering the low cap, its the type of player and cost certainty, that other teams at the draft would have also been looking for.

I've yet to hear ONE person who would be qualified to ACTUALLY run an NHL team, give him negative feedback on the move. All the negative press has been from guys who get paid if they can get more people reading their stories, and bad press gets them more of that!

People are now losing their minds over Hutton possibly walking. Hutton at 4.5m is disgusting. Can't &^@#ing win with these people

CDC and meltdowns is the status quo, no?

No one wants to give up a 1st rdr but the deal answers a need. Gaining some size on the LW was a big need. Baer's future healthwise is one hit away IMHO. The d-core does need help as well so I do not think Benning is thru. IMO Vancouver will have at least 2 rookie 'd'in the lineup with Hughes and Joulevi. Maybe a UFA signing or hopefully a trade pf Tanev with a solid return.

IMHO the core is here and the fine tuning begins as the core evolves.

Hopefully we can ship out Tanev and replace him with a bonafide top 4 D-man. I just thought that's what we would've used a 1st on

Never have too much of a good thing.  We were weak in winger prospects and Podkolzin won’t be here for two years.  We’re upgrading really well at forward looking to be one of the better offences next year.  Now we just need some defence changes and with what benning has been saying and done so far, you bet it’s gonna happen and we might be making some noise next year.  Yes it is a bit of an overpayment in my opinion but just think, this guy is similar to horvat who was 9th overall...we’re giving up a worse pick to get Miller.

I don't hate it. Just seems like a lot to give up for the wrong need. Does he play LW or RW? We couldve gotten by next year with our forward group and potentially have Podkolzen join us next year. I don't think we can get by with our current D next year

  6. it was really entertaining reading this meltdown happen. All roses and daisies for the first 5 pages, people calling JB amazing.. Then the trade derails get announced. Peoples minds explode over a 1st hahah

Its not perfect, and he spent too much to upgrade the wrong position. But it makes our team better. If Tampa wasn't in a cap situation, I don't think people would be complaining as much
