  1. It seems like this team has slowly transforming into Bo's team. I hope the Canucks can get Bo some consistent talented wingers down the road and hopefully find another scoring center to compliment his game to share some of his workload and make this team a true contending team in a few years!

  2. I see the slump Sven is going through right now similar to the one Bo went through last year. Last year was Sven's real full NHL season and he was pretty much a rookie (tho he did played more than 25 games prior to last year but all in all last year was his actual full year in the league with a team). This year is his sophomore slump and I have notice him every game, making plays, going to the boards to dig out pucks and he wants to be a better player. I think his goals will come once he starts to score.

I've come here to admit Granlund has changed my mind. I was 100% in the "omg JB, what are you doing?!" crowd when we made the trade, and I didn't warm up to it as the season went on. I thought we had basicly done the Vey trade all over again. 16 games into this season, I've got to say I'm impressed by his play. Maybe I was being hard on his last year and it skewed my perception, but he looks miles better in all 3 zones. He's a solid middle 6 forward and still has room to grow, keep it up Markus.

Meanwhile out of the Flames games that I have watched, Shinkaru was recently called up and one of those games I didn't even realize he is playing until the third period when I saw his jersey.

  4. Even Eriksson isn't scoring you still notice him making plays on the ice and he is bound to get going. Comparing him with Vrbata isn't fair because Vrbata was absolutely invisible last year to a point that when he was out of the line up at the end of the year you don't even notice the differences.

  5. Eriksson scored a goal in the exhibition game against Finland. Assisted by Daniel and Victor Hedman. Henrik was on the ice for the goal as well.

Edit: it was assisted by Daniel and Victor Hedman not Ekman-Larsson

  6. Weird phantom question that I have come up myself:

E.g. Vancouver vs Calgary (or any other 2 teams): At the beginning of the first period, the ref drop the puck at the opening faceoff, Hank lost the draw and no part of his or stick or skate or anything had touch the puck so are 5 other Canucks on the ice (including the goalie) and then the Flames Dman screwed up in a D to D passing play and put it into their own net, who on the Canucks gets credited for the goal?

Please don't tell me they're going to try and mold him into a Manny Malhotra type player. He has way too much offensive upside to just be a shutdown center.

Yes he needs to take care of his own end, but if he's capable of creating offense with skilled players let him do it. Willie's assessment of talent isn't very good if all he's sees in Bo is a real good checking center.

I will give Willie benefit of the doubt here. I think Willie wanted Bo to have completely accomplishes his defensive game before he goes out there to get his offence. Because that's what Crow did to Kesler when Kesler first enter to the league. Crow used Kesler as a checking center giving him all the tough assignments and made Kesler a great shut-down before he gets going with his offence later on in his career. Kesler has credited Crow that making him playing perfect defensive hockey early in his career really helped him. Here is hoping Willie is just trying to do that to Bo and let him be good defensively before he gets his offensive game going.

  8. I wouldn't be surprise if Stecher pulls a Hutton this training camp. I was at the scrimmage last night he played good on both ends of the ice and he creates offence with his pass and rushes and made quite a few good defensive plays. He really stood out to me starting at his first shift. Good signing! Larsen and Tryamkin better come to camp prepare!

Didn't the Sedins say they weren't playing the World Cup of Hockey?

That's the World Championship in May that they turned down. But they will play for the World Cup in September.

ahh damn i forgot about that..has Sutter always worn #21? Eriksson could try and buy it off him maybe lol

Sutter always wore #16 but we all know why he can't wear that here then last year he picked #21. It will be interested to see what number Eriksson wears for sure. And I am excited for the World Cup of Hockey, cuz team Sweden is likely gonna put Sedins+Eriksson on a line and we will get our first glance at how that line will jell and also give them extra games before the seasons to familiarize with one another again!

Tkachuk was my #2 choice ( Dubois 1st,Juolevi was 3rd).....and I think he's going to be a great player...EDM/CAL/VAN games should be pretty interesting in the next decade.

    Isn't Jake Virtanen our Tkachuk..?

Don't forget we have Brock Boeser too, if Boeser were to enter this draft some said he would be drafted top 5 as well.

Hmm... well I suppose that would be true if we were looking at goals. I would still say Havlat has been much more consistent throughout his career and has put up bigger points. He's had a 70pt. season (77 to be exact, pretty close to 80.) While Vrbata has only accumulated two 60 pt seasons and a 50 pt season. Hasn't broken 50 ever since. Has multiple 50 pt seasons, one 60 pt season and a 70 pt season. Had he stayed healthy, it would be less debatable.

I will give it to Havlat in this one, as of now Havlat is better point per game in his career than Verby.

  13. Both Sedins are the best players Canucks had ever had in terms of talent (you can argue Bure is better), but they will be in the HOF and it will be a while until the Canucks to find another player to even be close to their calibre again

Yep I corrected myself in the edit. I would even argue that Havlat has had a better career than Vrbata to be honest.

    Perhaps 4 out of 6?

Havlat is better early on but Verby is a late boomer, and he is better later on base on stats. This one is a tough one to pick from, both were once All Stars. This one is a tough one.
