Needless to say, there are likely a number of players who are playing in their very last game in a Canucks uniform.   Aside from a half dozen players who are relatively secure, it's anyone guess who will be here or not next year, as JR is backed into a corner on the cap front and the pressing need to plug several holes all over the roster, so it will be interesting to see how different this team looks in a half year from now.

Who do you speculate is playing in their last Canucks game tonight?

(My guess is; BB6, Myers, Garland, Aman, Kravtsov, Studnika, Burroughs, Juulson, Dries and very possibly Beauvillier and maybe even JTM - if JR decides to "cash out" on either of them.

Too much change and we risk another slow start/chemistry gap. My prediction is Dries, and Studnika, Burroughs. I think we are stuck with BB and Garland for a bit.

Some stronger, bigger forwards with some tenacity are needed. They are both redundant. This team needs to be feared to play against. At times, I feel like teams just don't fear our lineup. I would love there to be a tougher element added throughout the lineup.

Understatement: "at times". More like" for more than a decade".

I think that’s a very narrow minded point of view. Players want to win. Players want to earn spots for next season. People want to play for pride. Fans want a reason to cheer. Look at a guy like Wolanin. 3 weeks ago he probably had no shot at an NHL contract next year. He’s been awesome since his call up and maybe be proving he belongs. Briesbois just earned an extension and is proving his worth. Kravtsov has been really solid since the trade and probably has a strong chance at being on the team next year if he keeps it up. We’re building a team for next year with every game, whether it seems like it or not. Bedard was a nice pipe dream but was never going to be realistic. Having a losing culture and wanting a losing culture are very different. Team tank fans want a losing culture. Most of this season has felt like a losing culture. The past 10ish games have been the most excited I’ve been about this team and the future in a year. Even if we aren’t making the playoffs this year, this is extremely meaningful hockey.

About as meaningful as your ability to post independently.

Another game where special teams let the team down.

PK was lousy and PP was 1 for 5.

Still there was decent effort in the third period... but too little too late.

Can expect a goalie with the quality of Bobrovsky is going to give up a two goal lead without a fight.

This roadtrip was the one the Canucks HAD to win to be assured of a playoff berth... at this point I don't think much of their chances.

Yeah, they might put on a season ending push, but it probably won't be enough.

Time for management to line up the trades for deadline.  (not Horvat)

Play-offs. Are you still mentioning play-offs?

I understand what you're saying, I'm just disagreeing with you.  There's nothing more important than the two points, that's why they play the games and every player knows that.  I just watched the movie "Ice Guardians" and to a man, every player interviewed said the toughest thing for them to learn, after the instigator rule was put in, is when to fight and when not to fight because you never, ever put your team down a man and risk losing the two points.  There is nothing more important than the W.

Perhaps when you are vying for a play-off berth. Even then the risk is great that the players become solo. The Nucks don't need the points, they need a new, tougher, identity.

You and I look at it as the 2 points doesn’t matter, but I guarantee you that for every player on that team, they want to win more than anything else. And that’s how it should be. These are professionals being paid to play a sport, and the objective is to win.

Retaliation of any substance (shoving him back, etc) would likely result in a roughing penalty

In this situation it should be obvious, you take a chance on a one sided penalty. You have cameras and media to back you up along with your team mates.

You may do this but I don't think a professional hockey player does. They haven't given up yet nor should they. The players are not looking at it like that at all and they would be poor, poor hockey players if they did.

Playing the game the right way is the proper thing to do. In your opinion we should just go Brawl Street Bullies?

If you think establishing a team toughness identity is synonymous with how Philly once was, you are mistaken. Enough with the turning the other cheek and I don't think they would become poor hockey players. It's all about doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons. It's not game 7 we are talking about...
