So predictable at home. They care more about their belly buttons than playing for their fans. Shows a lack of character. Is it too late to tank again....

I just love how hard the Nucks play at home.

OK Nucks, now is the time to make hay. Stay above 500 and give the media some new material. The Nucks home record should not be this bad. I feel for the live fans...and hope tonight turns the page.

The Nucks are not wanting to throw in the towel and management is not further crippling the team, so my tanking dreams are spoiled. Hopefully they get back to 500 tonight and keep climbing. Those Edmonton and Calgary games will be extra special. Perhaps they can trade Demko and Miller to Chicago for a first and we may still end up with Bedard....

To be fair when management failed to significantly adjust the D and burned any cap flexibility on more wingers this was the expected outcome. Short sited and frustrating after a decade of short sided and frustrating management.
Or a stealth tank...Let's face it, this new MGMT group has at least a three-year window. to

So the team was just back from a tough road trip, had to contend with the wife, kids, dog and probably start Christmas shopping--so many distractions.
My biggest beef with this team is it's inability to make their home rink their own. Every team must love coming to Vancouver because they get to play their style and push the Nucks around. Washington intimidated/played the Nucks perfectly.
If the team still behaves like minor leaguers, put them in a Hotel in Surrey until they change their lackadaisical ways at home. And please, get some fast muscle to balance the line-up and get a good draft position. Make a 2 year plan to fix the D. Less than 500 at home is brutal.

Maybe they ought to change the playoffs to a top 20 team format? There are too many teams to battle to get in now. Be great for fans, bump up the playoff revenue as well. Potential for upsets and dark horse teams generating more interest in the league as well.
Sounds interesting. First 12 play 4 rounds and last 8 play a qualifying round.
But perhaps there would be issues with scheduling and game shape.
I also like the idea of allowing the higher placed team decide who they wish to play--increase the advantage to those who don't hold back at the end of the season.

Even though you’re partially correct, I think we are not supposed to post stuff like that in the GDT. There’s lots of threads about how we only have one top four D (Hughes) and a couple very overpaid guys, who we pretend are top four, and a collection of AHL tweeter types.
Now let’s go out and win this one! Beat those stinky fish and send their smelly fans home crying.
OK, I withdraw the negativity. I have the flu so that isn't helping my mood here. Also, I was really happy about the Vegas win, it was my birthday and a nice surprise with a new bottle of Scotch.

Troll.
Exhibit A: Cue last night's D core please and thank you.
Not trolling, there are countless posts from fans and commentators about the state of the Nucks D. Your are right, it can get it done at times and perhaps it's not as bad as many here suggest but I honestly think we have a couple of anchor contracts and are disadvantaged compared to the contenders.

Players will not tank either. Nor would coaches. They are among the best in the world and got to the NHL through ultra competitiveness and training.
The only way to intentionally tank is GM putting together a weak roster.
Yup.
Cue the D core.

I think a lot of people would be fine with tanking this year, at the very least.
But there’s 7 teams below us (somehow) and looks like we’re starting to right the ship. With Martin giving us average goaltending it’ll be hard to really tank.
Agreed, It would take selling many assets and it's doubtful there are any deals to be made at this time. Mind you, this is still a sub 500 club.

Sorry for bing contrary but I'd rather tank for two years, assuming our desirable core is on side, so we can blossom with fewer anchors and more prospects. Stanley cup in 2026 sound like a good plan. I know the players won't let up but management can make more questionable decisions to inflate the final reset.

Well, that was a surprise. Nucks win and invisible BB get another point...

I'll be on team tank until the D is fixed. The D won't be fixed this year so I'll be on team tank until next October.

I'm cheering for a win as always, but sadly inside... I have great despair for this team. Thought we had a solid group of players/coaches to finally compete this year and have some optimism... But the same result as always.
The end is nigh for some of these players that I've grown attached to.. Brock... Bo... JT... Garland... Demko...
This team is so depressing ... feels like I'm about to break up with a girlfriend. This could be the last one for some of these guys. Has to happen though. This isn't working.
Go Canucks.
And these guys aren't the problem. It's the overpriced D contracts, lack of sandpaper, and lack of D depth. If we can hang on to Petty, Bo and Demko for 3 more years, a tank this year could really help management reset for years 3 or 4. I think the new management group has an operation-stealth tank, sanctioned by Aqua.

Theres only one makar. Hes generational.
Quinn is fine in a 2 or 3 role, but you cant play him as a 1. The sooner this club realizes it the better.
The team needs to find and draft some Theodores and Petrangelos to build this d around
Agree, and i don't think was coincidental that Colorado sucked that year. Let the stealth tank run its course for a final reset before the scorched earth.

Exactly as a lot of us have been saying. The team needs dmen and forwards that can battle. You cant put hughes out there late when you have the lead. Hes improved a lot in his positioning but hes physically outmuscled consistently. And obviously Boeser, and dries the same. Get these two off the ice when its crunch time.
The team need a shut down pair desperately.
The draft is the only way to fix this mess.
Makes me wonder how in the world did Colorado land Makar? Our QH is very soft in his own. zone. JR must be on the stealth tank this year and planning to sell at the deadline. Hopefully the glut of forwards can help our reset.

I agree somewhat that brock isnt the reason we are losing games. Never said he was,, he is the result of a poor team makeup that has too many of the same type of player. We need players that can do the heavy lifting and are tougher to play against. Our top 9 has nobody that is and with poor D (structure haha), We cant be a consistently good enough team. Yes there is talent that can win a few but unless there is more heavy lifters this team will never win a championship. Brock would be fine if he was one of the few that played that way and not one of the many.. he has a role but too many players on this team want to play that role.. not his fault but makeup of team is problem.
Lazar, Miller, Horvat, Podz, Pearson. Just need 1, maby 2 more and to activate the physicality. The bigger problem is the size and aggressiveness of the D.

Listening to Bieksa!? Lazar hitting when he can without hurting the team. EP scoring some beauts. Demko making key saves. Miller Horvat Garland that's one tough line to defend against...
Could it be this teams turning the corner? Demko and Brock both got their monkey of their back. Something to build on at least right? It's a lot more fun on here when we win. And do have to wonder why there are so many new accounts that simply trash the team when we lose. Hope it's other fans (they do exist on here) just messing with us, and not folks with duplicate accounts whining and crying and acting like Doughty lol.
Thanks for all the laughs with the Giffs, my favourite the Doughty Poughty ones, Bubble Demko too lol. And Brock .... sure he's a guy we should consider trading when we can, but man it's sure nice to see him have a good all around game, and be a difference maker. Some of us, myself included, only want what's best for him, and do remember a solid hockey player in the bubble. That can score.
Doughty is such a jerk. It pains me to recall his frying elbow and resulting slap on the hand. He's a disgrace to the game.

No they won't and again we will be in that mediocre middle ground where no one wants to be and gets you nowhere. The defense is still atrocious and there really is no way to fix it without getting rid of a top forward (Horvat). Teams don't want our garbage. We are just stuck. I really don't see anyway out of it but time when contracts expire. It sucks but is true. I don't know how much more evidence people need that this team isn't close. It's hard to celebrate a win if you know the formula and chemistry isn't good. I just don't want to be tricked anymore or given hope from a team that hasn't shown it can win in a confident and encouraging way.
Why fix the D now. It's too expensive. Sell assets for picks when you can and our D core, with reduced assets up front, will do the rest for team tank. Play the kids, sell the vets, load up on picks and start building with more speed. I just hope some of our upcoming superstars are willing to stick around for another 3 years.

You are a patient fan, I gave up after 20 games and they still remain under 500. At least it's a great draft year--just need to take advantage.
