On D but season done.      BTW, this guy needs to be on the LEFT side in NHL.

It was interesting that the announcer said that Jake has been playing exceptionally well for the last month.  Encouraging to here.  And I totally agree that he belongs on the left side.

  2. The coaches must see something in Lind.  He played but Inspector Gadget did't. ::D  I don't mean to say Jonah is no good.  I really like him as a prospect and think he could Make the nucks down the road.  Just trying to pump his tires a bit (Roberto Luongo words :))

I'm hoping as well he will make the most out of his opportunity when he gets it.

Like most on here, I believe that he'll start the season down in Utica; create an even hungrier Virtanen to make it to the big show. If he's got drive along with his work ethic, and his set of tools, can't imagine what kind of player he'd become in the NHL. alas, players like him are seem to always be missing something - attitude, drive, work ethic, toolbox, etc, etc. He seems to have it all - with the exception of his attitude (dealings with media and Desjardins), question marks with respect to his work ethic and drive (last on to the ice, first off of it). I'm curious to see if any of those things have changed.

It seems according to Trevor, Jim and Travis, he has improved.  I thought that this was common knowledge.  All communications from the Canucks have been positive.  I think the Canucks are a lot higher on him than a lot of people on this list. :) I am choosing to believe that a kid with that much talent will be a good middle 6 forward (hopefully on left wing :)).  Now I don't know if he is going to make the team this year right a way but I am hoping he shows up and takes a spot.  He will shock everyone B).

Jonah is actually only 4 days older than Kole - both born in October. So they're both old for the 2017 draft.

    Thanks for the info. :)

You still haven't answered where the "he can't skate" from. That is just your opinion and you are clearly neither a scout nor a coach.

I'm pretty sure we have no NHL scouts or coaches.  Some guys that seem like they know quite a bit and may have played college or CHL or even some pro hockey but I don't think NHL guys are taking time to comment on our forum. :)

  6. I would think that he is worth about 4.8 to 5 mill. for 6 or 7 years.  As a center who could be your "C" worth a bit more than JD got from the Canadians (or from TB).  I don't think Bo is a 1st line center.  He is a good 2nd line center that won't score more than 30 goals a season & 65 or 70 points.  I love Bo and hope he plays his whole career here but that is just how I see him progressing.

His time in the AHL was definitely well spent and a big part of that, from what I've read, was getting His 200ft game to the point where its, at least, passable at the NHL level.

Thats why I don't get why people automatically go on the attack at the mere mention of Boeser starting the year in Utica developing his overall game.  For a young player, the AHL should be seen as a positive step toward a long NHL career, not a demotion.

I totally agree.  Thinking that BB or NG would benifit from time in Utica isn't a put down.  Just wanting the very best for their development so they can be even better than they are now.  Utica looks like they could have a better team than ever.  Making for a real positive experience for the guys playing there.  I know if asked, they would say they would rather be on a poor team in the NHL than a good one in the AHL but would it not be better for them in the long run to be in the AHL on a good team when they are younger?  I know when I was that age I would have said the NHL but I would have been wrong.  The AHL would have been the right choice.  Its just harder to make the right choice with out the benifit of experience.

Wasn't that the whole reason why Calgary traded him in the first place? The defense part of his game can be worked on in the AHL. It's his elite playmaking ability and goal scoring that makes him such a promising player, similar to Baertschi when he got traded to Vancouver.

Yes, and that is why his time in the AHL was well spent.  Just like some specific time spent on working on NG's defensive game would be of benifit.  just like it was for SB.  I wonder if NG time in the A was spent targeting his defensive game instead of just reafirming his offensive skills.

at the same age, I'd say goldobin is ahead of baertschi offensively. If goldobin can become a better scoring baertschi I'd be more than satisfied

The thing with Baertchi is that he isn't a liability defensively.

  10. If NG doesn't improve his puck pursuit and be harder on coming back on defence all his offencive skills will be cancelled out by a horrible plus minus.  If he gets sent down to Utica it will be to work on that.  I don't think you can be a top 6 forward without atleast an average defensive game as well.

  11. The Canucks have put Bo back on the web site as their leading goal scorer.  Could this mean they are close to signing him?  Or is it just the Canucks are just correcting a mistake? ::D

  12. Something I have noticed over the years of watching hockey is that it is common to see a player after a trade that it can take a season for some players to get comfortable in a new city and hocley team.  Add the fact that EG had wrist surgery and missed most of the season, we have not seen the best of EG.  I think with a season here in Vancouver to settle in with the team and the city along with his wrist fully healed, he is going to have a real bounce back season this year and be the player we all expected when we traded for him last summer.  He is a big strong guy who plays with an edge; the exact kind of player we need.

  13. I don't understand why he isn't listed as a left winger when so many here seem to believe he plays better on his off wing.  I am pretty sure he only played on the left in the WHL. Is it just because he is right handed or are they seeing something we don't.  I may be wrong but are left wingers harder to come by?  Is it like trying to find that hard to come by right handed d-man?

  14. So each team has the control to post or not to post.  It doesn't mean there is a problem, just more time to work it all out.  Is it centrally managed through New York (the owners) or is it the NHLPA that monitors the info we see?  Thanks for the clarification

  15. Is anyone concerned that Bo is not listed on the Canucks site as their leading scorer?  I know I mentioned this before but it seems strange to me.  Is there a chance they trade him (please don't crucify me for mentioning the dreded TRADE word:rolleyes:)?  I've always thought of him as a player they wouldn't consider trading.  Does it have anything to do with not being allowed to use his name unless he is actually under contract?  I am not that familiar with the legal side of how contracts work.

   You ever skated with NHL players?   These "little guys" are tough as nails men who I doubt very much are as fragile as you seem to think.   There is very little "soft" about someone who has made the NHL.

You are definitly right about the toughness of the smaller players.  I don't think you would last very long if you skated around with your tail between your legs.  I still have memories of the Oilers teams over the last 5 or 10 years having their younger and smaller guys get kicked around but add the size they have now and guys think twice about going after McDavid.  I never played hockey past college but It always amazes me when I see them live and the speed at which the game is played.  I still think they need to get bigger though.  I agree they are not fragile but they are on the smaller side. ::D
