  1. LoL. Burrows go? I agree but who the hell is gonna take him right now with his contract? thanks Gillis. I just don't know whose contract is worse going forward. Burrows or Daniel Sedin?
  2. Ok. First of all, This is the NHL. Any team can beat any team on a given night. Saying the Canucks lost to Anaheim 9-1 and then the Jets beat Anaheim means nothing. That is the only game the Ducks have lost at home in regulation all season! And the Jets have been on fire since they fired their coach. They just beat Chicago too. The Canucks also lost to the Ducks in Anaheim in overtime just two weeks prior and were just a minute away from being the first team to beat them in regulation. Secondly, the Canucks just aren't that good right now. They are better than no one( Calgary and Edmonton included) without Henrik in the lineup. I think Henrik's absence proves one big thing. At this point in their respective careers Henrik is vastly superior to Daniel. Daniel is just playing really bad right now and looks completely lost without his brother.
  3. Well he is not a good GM and never was. Don't forget the year he won GM of the year he traded a 1st Round Pick and Grabner for Keith Ballard and he let Willie Mitchell go despite the fact he wanted to stay here. If the Canucks have Willie Mitchell in the Stanley Cup Final instead of Ballard IMO they win. Btw, I am consistent. Right after he won the award I came on these boards and said it was a joke. Btw, do you know who won the GM of the year last season? Bet you don't. It actually was Ray Shero from Pittsburgh. Dude has the best player in the world playing for him and yet his team faceplanted in the playoffs once again and he was the GM of the year last year. It is a meaningless award.
  4. They obviously don't care who they give it to. They gave it Gillis not because of any shrewd moves he did or because they liked him. They gave it to him because the Canucks were the best regular season team in the league that year. End of story.
  5. No he is hated by other Gm's. Because he is a former player agent and a cocky one to boot.
  6. I can't think of more than two players that have been asked to. Can you?
  7. Part of the problem about the refs is on Gillis. HE basically blamed the refs for losing the Cup in 2011 and ever since they have been against us. It certainly doesn't help that no one in the NHL office likes Gillis at all. Gillis is hated around the league from his days as a player agent. Agents are hated by most managment types because they are suppose to be. Hiring a player agent as a GM was a bad move from the get go and it is really hurting this organization now and will in the future.
  8. A few more games like tonight and I'm sure he'll be happy to leave.
  9. IT doesn't get asked of players that often. But a no trade clause in its nature is designed to respect the wishes of a veteran player. By including a no trade clause a player just wants the right to veto a trade it but doesn't necessarily mean a player would veto it. Edler may very well be willing to move to another team after all he has to know the future isn't too bright in Vancouver. In other words, Edler having a no trade clause doesn't necessarily mean he WANTS to play out his contract in Vancouver. At some point he may very well WANT to leave, he just WANTS to be able to have say in the manner.
  10. LOL. He would never get hired. He likely would just go back to being a player agent. He has no respect/rapport whatsover from the other GM's in the league. No wants to deal with him unless they have to or think they can fleece him.
  11. That's fine Deb. I know your intentions aren't evil or anything. But If I hadn't called you out on this thread it would have been locked by you too. Btw, not all my threads were redundant. Actually some of my threads were really well thought out and were not being discussed on this site at all. But you locked them with no justification whatsoever. You are calling my threads redundant but in truth you don't even remember them at this time. You are a Gillis defender whether you admit it or not and the posts you lock usually show that. If it is a positive thread about Gillis it survives. If it is a well thought critical post about Gillis it usually gets locked and usually by you.
  12. On a postiive light I had Anaheim to win in regulation or OT on a Sports Action Ticket combined with a tie in the GB/SF NFL game(tie = 3 points or less). So I won $49.50 with 0.6secs left and the Canucks managed one point despite the fact they were completely dominated in this game.
  13. Ok I guess so. But then again that is like the which came first, the chicken or the egg argument. Two things I know for certain though. 1. Deb is a Gillis defender. 2. Deb locks a lot of negative threads about Gillis.
  14. Other than the trade deadline when is the last move of any significant kind(significant means NHL calibre players) the Canucks pulled off? Booth? Schneider for the first round pick doesn't count because he was absolutely forced into that move
  15. O don't kid yourself. Deb is the ultimate Gillis fanboy. I have had quite a few topics locked on gillis by her simply because she is a fan of his. she called my threads redundant when they weren't or made up some other excuse. The bottom line is any thread that is negative about Gillis is usually locked by Deb whether that thread is with merit or without it. I have nothing against her personally, she just seems to much of a homer in terms of objective thinking. This thread will be locked or disappear because of her too.
  16. Just for the record Deniro. When did we actually start agreeing on Gillis? I know I beat you to it but welcome to the darkside.
  17. And he laughed at the bench because it actually worked to some extent making him look like a genius.
  18. Btw, Gilman is just as big of a moron as Gillis is. Gillis leans heavily on Gilman for most of his decisions so a lot of the recent moves by the Canucks are just as much Gilman's doings as Gillis'. I know for a fact the Edler re-signing was mostly based on Gilman's opinion of him. Just ask Botchford whose only friend in the Canucks organization is Gilman. That is why Botchford keeps insisting that the Edler contract was a great value contract.
  19. I agree he struggled to his feet. He has a concussion. It is possible he has a more serious injury as well but he does have a concussion and with the NHL very sensitive about concussions these days that means he is likely to miss a week at minimum.
  20. Your post is likely to be locked by Deb though because she is a Gillis lover. Really he is in over his head. His Gm counterparts around the league don't view him as a equal and will only deal with him if that have to just like his days as a player agent. The Canucks really need to get a real Gm in here. He got lucky on Santorelli and yes it was pure luck. But ultimately Gillis has done little to contribute to the core he inherited. The hire of Torts actually is looking good as he is a good NHL coach. If I was the Aqulini's I would hire a new GM and keep Torts. Right now, Gillis keeps making excuses for himself by proclaiming that it is really hard to makedeals giving today's realities. However, that doesn't stop other Gm's around the league from making deals.(like Nonis on the Liles trade). However, Gillis simply doesn't have a big network of Gm's to deal with because he really isn't very well liked amongst fellow GM's other than Florida.
  21. I have actually. Blanked out for like one hour. Remember nothing that happened during that time. I recovered ok but I had brains to start with so I'm ok.(Some might dispute that though). Seriously though, I hope Kass is ok he seems like a decent guy but it is not like he is starting at genius level.
  22. Concussion protocol, I'm sure. If it is a concussion he likely will only miss a week or so. Really you have to have brains to start with to damage them so he should be ok if it is that. The bigger worry is if he broke his jaw.
  23. That was right after Screivens of all people kept his team in it by saving 4 shots in a row all of them glorious opportunites. No big save from Luongo moments later though. Was the tying goal Luongo's fault? No it was Edler's fault but it could have been saved. It would have been a great save but it could have been saved. Those are the type of saves in clutch situations we don't get from Luongo these days. He is solid in a mediocre type way. The stats say Luongo is a average goalie and in this case the stats are right, enough of the elite talk when it comes to Luongo. Luongo is not elite anymore.
