He'll be 23 in a 2 months. I really don't think he is developing much at this point. So far he has played at about the same level as last year. Good at times, bad at times but no consistency.

He has played ok but I watched the game last night and I don't think he played "VERY GOOD". He had 3 hits on the night and was noticeable at times but I also noticed he played a lot on the perimeter. He mostly was playing amongst the boards. He really needs to learn to play effectively in front of the net to become a top 6 forward. On most nights he doesn't even try to play there.

Yeah we play in the West though not the East and in the west only Calgary,Edmonton and Nashville have less goals than the Canucks and teams like Chicago,SanJose,Anaheim,Stlouis and even Phoenix have way more Detroit is not very good right now but the other two teams while scoring in the same range as us have let up less goals. One stat that gives you a good idea of how well a team is playing overall is goal differential. Teams high in the standings with a small positive goal differential are probably going to come back down to earth at some point because they can't keep winning close goals. The Canucks are 10th in the West in goal differential with -2. So where they are in the standings is reflective of how they are playing overall IMO. The Canucks are simply mediocre at this point.

I keep seeing posts suggesting he is playing so well but the bottom line is he is not producing and most of hits are happening way behind the play. He was noticeable at times last night which is more than can be said of some forwards but he has prodcued only one assist in the last 4 games despite increased playing time. If he is a standout offensively that is a problem.He had a decent game last night but not "very strong" IMO.

Edler is definitely the guy to traded. The Canucks have depth on defense and need a new look offensively. I keep hearing, mostly from Botchford, that Edler was a great value signing yet all I see is play you should be able to get from a defenseman making half the amount of money Edler does. The AVs need a DMan. Edler and Richardson for O`Reilly.

So the Canucks are playing solid defense but have no secondary scoring. Who could have saw that coming? Deniro you are right on this occassion. The Canucks are playing fundamentally well but they just don`t get a lot of chances from the dirty areas. Puck possession and shots from the outside doesn`t automatically translate into goal scoring. Especially, when you don`t have people who thrive at putting the puck in the net. Booth should have been bought out before this season but the team just couldn`t quite admit that he was a bust yet and the owners didn`t want to use a lot of buyouts. The Canucks have a lot of players who seem to doing ok, like Higgins,Santorelli,Kassian but the botttom line is none of those guys can contribute offensively more than in brief spurts nor will they ever. In the end the Canucks are who we thought they were. A offensively challenged team in a much tougher division and conference this year. There are no moral victories only real ones. It seems the ultimate sign of mediocrity is starting to set in and that is justifying losing by saying they played well enough to win.

Team needs a major shakeup. They have a good defense corp with stanton playing well and Corrardo still down on the farm. IMO, Edler is vastly overrated by some and I don`t like his contract going forward. IF you can get some team to give up a quality forward for him I would do that in a heartbeat.

Canucks are now the last team without a coach and with Tippett staying with the Coyotes there is no reason for the Canucks to wait any longer.

Exactly. I mean of course it takes time to adjust to a new team. Just look at Sami Salo in TB. Sure he could have been had for cheaper but he is really struggling adjusting to play in TB. Look at stats. Through 5 games he only has 5 points and is only a +9.

He may have had a couple of scoring chances in the last game but he also took a lazy penalty in the offensive zone that led to a goal against. That kind of thing gets you in the coaches doghouse quick.
