    One of my new faves.

Favouring him over Virt for that illustrious 2RW spot as it stands.

    Cheap and entertaining.

We know he’s a fringe player, but he’s easy to cheer for.

His first goal and celebration and the camera catching his loved ones is one of my fav memories from recent Canuck times.

If they can sign Virtanen under 2.3 million, then I agree and it's not impossible given JB's RFA signings. I'm not banking on Ferland being out as all signs seem to indicate he wants to play, but I guess the question is for how long can he last. I just think it's the simplest solution, but of course it's not the only solution.

Can they sign him for any term at this point?

I will honestly say I haven't seen him enough to know for sure, but all official descriptors have called him a pain in the ass to play against. He may not be much of a fighter, but he has hit those high PIMs as well to suggest that he's doing something other than constantly hooking/tripping players.

... so, potentially an inexpensive upgrade on Rousell, like I think you also mention, elsewhere?! Agreed.
    Cheers.

I think Riussel has played his last game in blue and green

    Probably. And good.
Enough of the Burrows-esque circus antics here, please!

No more. There’s agitating and then there’s biting and all that stuff. Gross.

If he is done here, then this can be called a terrible signing in the first place.

JB will now have to pay to trade that contract because like all of us, the rest of the GMs know he’s a liability and an expensive one at that.

It’s not too early to call this one, IMO.

This was not a (another) good move/signing by JB.

    Edit

    Love the confused faces.
Burrows was a clown, deal with it.

it's got nothing to do with learning.  The young core is starting to emerge as leaders and don't need the veteran leadership from the bottom 6 as much as they did 2-3 years ago when most of the bottom 6 vets were signed..........they were absolutely needed then

    Subjective.

It will never be known if Ruutu and the other PTOs etc would have provided that for cheap. Plenty of AHL vets can win draws and lead kids too.

I don’t like hearing how there was only one option and one option that was so expensive that it’s still expensive today.

Obviously, like totally obviously, there were other options that might have yielded at least similar results to fend off a “losing culture” while providing professionalism and quality leadership with production similar to what those players have produced to date.

I just don’t think the conviction behind the claim is warranted. Plenty will disagree and since there is no alternative (option) ending, there’s nothing else to measure or judge except the result, so there’s nothing to argue, except the conviction these opinions are claimed with.

Benning was not blind during the playoff... I expect more like his over the next year or two.
I applaud any signing that adds a bit of spice.

It’s been a great, errr summer... man, I just can’t get used to this hockey in the summer and October is the offseason stuff.

I feel totally out of sorts without hockey being on and available right now. My seasons tickets to the Blazers, etc... I am in full withdrawal.

Fall meant only a few things to me as a human - hunting, spawning salmon and hockey. All three are sucking at the same time here right now!

    i like that 4th line.

young, can skate, hit and can contribute offensively.

Would rather it was bigger and legitimately tougher to respond for momentum changes, like how Vegas would come and mandle QH and co. to regain momentum.

A 5’11 studded 4th line is NOT my preference lol.

Only on CDC does a minor depth move signing result in trashing LOL..

Well, you’ll have to admit that there was a phase where’s that literally all JB was doing and it wasn’t exactly a success, with the jury still out on what’s left of it all.

I say we allow the skeptics to come around on their own if/once they are satisfied these latest moves won’t be futile or expensive “minor” moves as well. This move should be another step to accepting that the team is on solid ground for even the most bitter of us.

Look at the character and desire being brought in. I don’t miss the pre EP Canucks’ previous 10 years at all. This has been an awesome turnaround for my tastes. Fun.

7 rounds @ 6 years to fill holes present and future.
He’s a fringe nhler we have those

5’11 196. Good depth for Utica I guess.

hope it means JB has a plan to get rid of the Sutter and his past plug signings atleast this ones cheap.

If all our Cs stay put, then I’d agree it’s a redundant move, but even for Utica, JB could have plans that impact the depth chart enough to buy this insurance policy.

I’m optimistic for the first time in years that this offseason-story Will have a happy ending. I will kick Kim in his old but if he lets me down

He's not a fighter.  Think Motte with better skills.

He’s just as relentless from what I recall.

There were only a few posters who mentioned his name this offseason.
I think one of them was @oldnews, who must be pleased with the signing, much like he was when we had acquired Motte.

To those few posters who referenced this guy, searchable info on here I’m sure, props.

I didn’t think JB would have room, which I now believe he must be making if he’s adding capable depth, unless he has plans to move out the players already under Beagle?

As far as the move goes, it’s an upgrade in desire on anybody’s score card. Hard to bitch about a move that makes us a harder checking team, even if he isn’t Lowry or something tougher.

    Keep going, JB.
Remove the passengers from the bus.

Where do I talk about Beagle...of course he is the #4C and of course Motte is the 4th LW with macEwen likely the 4th RW...

There is lots of time left for JB to sculpt that bottom 6, plus the depth that follows.

I’m hoping it’s Sutter who is gone.

I’m also still optimistic for a package trade consisting of players like Virtanen or Gawd + to fill that 3rd line spot with Adam Lowry.

If we get Lowry and Savard, I’ll be in fan heaven.
