Cool, so if someone has a $10m AHL salary budget, then they are likely to only be able to afford 5-12 players. Got it. Cheers.

@Gator A question please...regarding ELC contracts which will impact quite a few people... For example, a player you have drafted has an ELC with an AAV of $1.5m made up of $950k salary and $550k bonus. I understand that if they are on the NHL roster they will be counted as $1.5m AAV. But if they are waived to the AHL roster then it will just be the $950k salary that counts towards the AHL/minors salary cap budget? Thanks

[Proposal] Trade with PIT and finish off roster
BigTramFan replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
They might also be interested in Beauvillier, who has only 1 year left and hence could be flipped for a pick at the TDL. Maybe just Beau for Rutta. Then sign UFA Suter for $2m x 1 instead of paying SJS for Sturm. -
The cap hit used is the AAV, which includes all bonuses (whether they earn them or not)

[Proposal] Trade with PIT and finish off roster

I'd imagine SJS are interested in prospects and picks. Both Rutta and Sturm are serviceable players, with only 2 years left on their contracts and SJS not competing in the next 2 years, don't see why they'd turn down a trade if they get something decent in return and are able to ice a full roster. Don't think they'd want Myers, but not an issue with them taking Myers to make the cap work in a deal. Myers probably has SJS on his no trade list though... -
