So, in light of there being no Hockey, Basketball, Baseball and now no Disneyland either, I've decided to try taking up knitting with my own back hair.

Anyone have any other weird hobbies they are hoping to cultivate???

    :)

I have a feeling that job jar in the kitchen is going to be front and center for the next while..

Primary transfer is respiratory droplets. Vapour. Typical lung vapour is heavier than air so it falls to the ground before reaching 6 ft of distance. This is why cafes and such in Italy have been papering over every 2nd of their tables; it mimics 6 ft of seperation.

Dickbags who cough or sneeze may project a bit farther, but it is society's duty to kick their groins into observing what we would call "good manners".

Is it airborne? It always has been, but it doesn't float around freely like dust or pollen, it's attached to vapour expelled from lungs.

ok yah, that's what I thought - not truly airborne, like you could walk into an invisible covid19 cloud

There's no way.  The Cup needs to be won, not awarded.

I have a feeling we have seen the last of NHL hockey until next season.  This isn't like bad weather that you can wait out for a while and then things go back to normal.  With how things are escalating, I can't see there being any way to return to play before it would be too late.  It may be months.

yah they can have the Presidents Trophy, but points don't guarantee a cup, just ask Tampa

On % we're tied with NSH, we lose on 2nd tie break being ROW. We'd miss the play-offs if the cancel tomorrow.

which in all honesty wouldn't be all bad..

we'd keep our first round pick in a draft that is apparently pretty deep.. instead of giving it away while limping into the playoffs under strange circumstances..

takes Green & Benning off the hot seat.. try again next year

their health care system is collapsing because people are overwhelming ER's and ICU's to the point that they are turning infected people away because they are less "saveable" than others.  Now their Dr's and nurses are becoming infected........when they are unable to perform their duties, it's game over for an awful lot of people there.

that's friggin brutal.. I thought most infected people could self isolate & ride it out at home.. does every patient in Italy actually need to be in a hospital? what happens if someone comes in with a legit problem (heart attack, industrial accident)?

They didn't know crap about SARS, or swine flu, or chicken flu, and this has all the same hallmarks. Ridiculous hype and fear. This has more to do with control than anything, in the end.

this is what bugs me.. fear mongering to generate more control

hype and fear to such a degree that people have stopped thinking rationally and there's widespread panic..

obviously I don't want to catch this bug (or anyone to catch it) but I'm far more concerned with the economic impacts coming down the pipeline.. at first I was mostly annoyed by it all - not worried about it, but it felt like a senseless disruption.. now I feel like we're all lambs being led to the slaughter, whether a viral slaughter or an economic one..

Motte is a LW and Lind is a LW.... it would be Hoglander replacing Motte.  Actually it would be Hoglander replacing Roussel and Roussel replacing Motte, which is a big upgrade.

I like Motte, but he is the forward version of Biega.  Totally replaceable.  He is probably a 13th/14th forward next year depending on who we can get rid of.

hmm.. agree to disagree on that.

not that Motte isn't replaceable, but I'll take him over Roussel at this point, especially for the salary. I don't see that as an upgrade (although I will concede that I haven't seen what Roo can do in the playoffs)

I would assume Hoglander will be a nice 3rd, maybe even 2nd liner.. Lind, at this point, my guess would be 3rd/4th line.. who knows where either peaks out.. but either way, I think Motte is an ideal 4th liner who has earned a spot, and we can't assume the youngbloods can automatically replace him just yet

One of my top 5 movies growing up as a kid.  The slow -mow shotgun scene in the hallway of the mall, then the Motorcyle/semi chase down the L.A river.....just legendary

a couple years back I found myself at the bottom of a bottle of dark rum and in a spirited argument, insisting T2 was in the top 25 movies ever made..

If next year we add Hoglander and Lind up front, and then the year after we add Podkolzin... we have the capacity to trade away other good players for assets.  I really think you want to insert Hoglander next year to get experience instead of both him and Podkolzin the same year (and probably both on the 3rd line).

    Next year:

    Miller-Petterson-Toffoli

    Pearson-Horvat-Boeser

    Hoglander-Gaudette-MacEwan

    Roussel-Beagle-Lind/defensive veteran

That allows you to trade a guy like Virtanen for a really good return and/or shed salary cap.

can't see Lind replacing Motte at this point.. sure hope Benning can resign Toffoli..

SAN JOSE, CA - Sharks Sports & Entertainment is today announcing an update to events scheduled at SAP Center at San Jose through April 1, 2020.

All three San Jose Sharks games (March 19 vs. Montreal, March 21 vs. Boston and March 29 vs. Arizona) will be played as scheduled at SAP Center but will be closed to the general public.

Admission to games will be limited to home and visiting club personnel, approved credentialed media and broadcast partners, essential club and arena staff, and NHL officials.

All three Sharks games will be broadcast on television on NBC Sports California and via audio feed on the Sharks+SAP Center app, 98.5 FM KFOX and the Sharks Radio Network.

The same policy will apply for the San Jose Barracuda games scheduled for March 17 vs. Colorado and March 22 vs. Bakersfield.

All the NHL/NBA teams will follow this policy for the rest of March/season. Its only a matter of time before its decided/announced. By the weekend is my guess.

    well that's just f-ing fantastic.

  11. Ok.. this stupid coronavirus thing is getting out of hand.. I'm booked on a family cruise in May - looks like that might be off the table.. I've got tickets to the Canucks game in Vegas on the 23rd - will that even happen?

I realize that the virus is real and dangerous to some people, but now different leagues are contemplating playing games for an empty house.. Bo Horvat says that's not cool.. Lebron James says no thanks.. but it's a real possibility, now that it's officially a pandemic..

so what would this mean for the playoffs? how would FA feel if the Canucks finally make the post season and the seats are empty? wouldn't it totally ruin the playoff vibe if the were no fans present? collective team energy probably wouldn't be very high, the games would likely suck.

could the games be pushed back? would it be better to just tank and try again next year?

most importantly, can't people just wash their friggin hands, and stay home if they're sick? I don't want to go to Vegas, find the game is cancelled, and get quarantined on the way home..

Boeser is skating with the team today and could be back before the end of the season.  They have 6M in LTIR cap space which they will no longer have once he is ready to return.

wouldn't NT's cap hit be pro rated to the number of regular season games remaining? like 10 games left or whatever, so 1/8th of a season's cap hit.. 3.2 mill would only be 400,000 ish..

    who would know these things?

edit: nvm, looks like this has been covered

Craig Button is right maybe they are holding Rafferty back this year so he doesn't loose his rooky status next year, Like Quinn Hughes Rafferty has a lot upside.

would Raff need to be protected for the ED?

Madden as well as Lockwood are great collage players but I see little room for them coming up .Probably why Madden was moved.  Gaudette  and Horvat will slot down as more skilled guys are developed . Beagle will be gone before his contract is up. We have more centers in the pipe line coming .

at this point, fully agree on Madden & Lockwood..

at this point, I'm unsure on Gaudette, will he end up a 3rd center or 3rd line wing, who knows..

Beagle has 2 years left after this? I could see trying to move his contract, but who would take it and who would replace him? he's a keeper imo..

and BoHo.... that was a joke right? he's the quintessential 2C.. 60ish points, 200 ft game, face off champ.. game still needs to grow, but he ain't moving down.. unless the cap is suddenly over 100 mill..
