I hope this management team sees he needs time in the AHL.
Thay contract needs to be waived or LTIR though. Can't carry it in the AHL without hurting the team

Assuming no trades/signings.....
Hughes-Schenn
OEL-Myers
I like the idea of having Hughes on the right side with OEL, that gives us 25 mins a night of real solid D. The downside is what the other 35 mins look like. I think we are a few pieces away from being able to do that.
Bottom pair will be a rotation of
Dermott-Poolman
Rathbone-Burroughs
I think Wolanin and Juulsen will get some call up looks as well. DeKeyser will be let go.
I think we will make a deal, or pickup a reasonable D on Waivers that could shake some of this up a bit. Rosters around the league are starting to shake out a little, so we will probably see some movement on our back end..
So you said who the top 4 woukd be and then ruled it out. Lol.
Looks more like
OEL Hughes
Dermot Myers
Rathbone Schenn
Burroughs for 7th
Hopefully poolman is waived or back to LTIR as he was horrible.
Looks like Wolanin might have earned the 8th spot.
Dermott and Burroughs also play both sides so lots of options how to juggle for injuries and rest days.
-
I have watched every preseason game so far.
Team has not looked good.
Not much of anyone down the prospects is ready to challenge for a spot.
Only Wolanin has looked decent past the original projection of d men.
We needed to know this at training camp and get the team firing on all cylinders. Not sure why it was not obvious.
Let's ice an NHL team and get some momentum.

Need to start to put out an attempt at a regular season lineup. Wolanin looked better than poolman. Think that says more about poolman.
Need to play to get some winning habits going. Have not been up to snuff yet.

Signing Miller is nice and I think works out well.
What I see is we still lack a power forward. Amy chance we can swap one of the smurfs for someone big strong fast with decent mitts? Like garland for Alex Tuch or something?
Really think we have all the forward parts then. Goal looks good. Still think dermott has to play the right side, wonder if he can be Hughes new Tanev........
We are close. Maybe two parts away from being a third round playoff team.

Woo seems to have problems just sticking as D in the AHL (forget the NHL) as I seem to recall the coach moving him to forward on occasion (I assume to give him at least some icetime). If you can't begin to dominate at some level in the AHL, you're not going to get 100 games at the NHL level barring a ton of injuries on the Canucks. Even failed longshot ex-Canuck D prospect Subban was an allstar at the AHL level one season (but still lol couldn't play a lick of defense).
Klimovich is the mystery box. Hopefully he can make it.
Woo just needs to get tossed aside by us and he will do well like the others we don't know how to make use of and lose.

At 30 yrs old next summer hope Canucks never offer over 7.5 million X 6 years 45 million...
Yet the Flames just went 8x 10.5m on a comparable.

Why wouldn't we trade a forward for Dumba? Then LTIR or dump Poolman to Arizona or Chicago?
Hughes Dumba
OEL Myers
Rathbone Dermott
Burroughs Schenn
That is a pretty good top 8. A very mobile top pair. And lighter usage on OEL Myers.
If it's Boeser then it's Boeser. Garland would be my preference but got to give to get.
Pearson Horvat Mikheyev
Kuzmenko Miller Garland/Boeser
Hogs Petey Pods
Dickinson Lazar Lockwood
Seems to solve the issues.......
-
Dickinson. Are we really gonna have to waive him at training camp?

I think the question, if we go with the defence we have, is what lefty plays the right side this year.
Can we do
Quinn Dermot
Oel Myers
Rathbone schenn
Burroughs pool man
Or
OEL Hughes
Dermott myers
Rathbone schenn
Burroughs poolman
If one or both those work I see a solid top 4 and a very good top 6 with a very good top 8.
And I don't think the pipeline is that bare anymore.
Woo
Juulsen
Brisebois
Wolanin
Petterssen
All those have top 8 potential to me. Really like how EP32 looked in development camp. He looked fast and big. Still growing and 2 or 3 years away but one like that every year amd the pipeline gets deep in a hurry

Does anyone think maybe Lammikko got let go because they’re expecting Sutter to be healthy enough for fourth line duty by the start of the season? Has there been any news health wise about Sutter?
Lazar.

I get it and my point: they were all top 10 picks or both are top 5 picks, that didn't live up to there draft pedigree - just like OJ. I remember that day when I heard the trade for an unknown Naslund and LUCKILY, IT WORKED OUT...
Naslund was only unknown if you didn't watch international hockey. I was stoked at the Naslund trade.

Juulsen - might still pan out ? Big IF and yeah, it was just like when Quinn drafted Stojanov at #7 or Sandlak at #4.
Not much like Stojanov actually. Remember he was traded for Markus Naslund so that turned out better than okay.

Colin white being bought out by senators. 25 year old right shot center who senators were over paying.
Is this an upgrade on our 4th line?
-
The canucks want proven young players not raw draft prospects for Miller. That is why this was not an ideal draft day trade. It will come.
-
Petey need a good healthy summer to get stronger and faster
-
The goal is this off season on defence should be to push Luke Schenn back to the 7th D spot.
As our 3rd best left d and best right d last year. That is a task. Lol.

Expected to see people happy. Seen several reports Canucks signed Karlsson.

Mentioning Edler it was interesting to note when LA was down 2 players, the coach chose Edler to hold the fort on the PK.
Vcr has to make way for Rathbone next season. I suspect he'll make the roster and then it'll be up to him where he fits. He;s destined to become a good offensive player
Got to either play Rathbone or trade the asset. I feel like we are wasting this kid.

I think Rutherford had a hand in this coaching group and that the group itself has a succession plan. BB will train amd gradually give way to Scotty Walker. Former Canucksplayer that BB keeps telling us how he is so bright and has so many great ideas.

I hope we run next year with BB. Then the next year BB/Walker.
Then the next year Walker.
Nice smooth transition to a former canuck behind the bench again. BB experience and a young guys drive and new ideas.
