Yes, I 100% understand. People like ConnorComet (or whatever his name is/was) are nothing like 99.9% of the Comet population. Sadly, if you served up crow, they'd probably not understand why you're giving it to them.

I commented back on the 19th that the turning point for the comets was Gaudette and Gaunce being sent down. Otherwise we would still be playing with ECHL level centers.

Guess some people can not see the obvious.

The Comets have not played at home since that weekend, so there is not really much to comment on........

  2. Still surprising to me that this team is doing as well as it is. Kubalkov is holding his own, but seems a little bit if a hot head and teams are blantently running him in an attempt to get him off his game.

Turning point of the season seems to be Gaunce and Gaudette returning which has bolstered the offence and playmaking ability of this team. Pyatt has been a nice addition and a difference maker unlike the sometimes nearly invisible Archie  he replaced...

The kids continue to improve, Lind, Dahlen, and Gadjovich setteling in and finding their way.

Not sure if the goaltending will continue at this level of play.

The defense should be bolstered by Schen, and eventually by the returns of Sautner and Chatfield... At least one would think....but chemistry is a weird thing..

Comets are scoring goals much easier than any of the teams from. Previous seasons, even on the Calder cup run the comets struggled to score....

Today's game has been moved up to 2pm our time due to a snowstorm tonight.....

They have lots of size; trouble is that a number of them don't skate all that well and three are basically ECHL call ups. Players with size of note: MacEwen, 6'4 - 211; Gaunce, 6'2 - 214; both bonafide AHL or better then you have Arseneau 6'2 - 231, Woods 6'3 - 222 and newcomer Wyszomirki 6'4 - 230. The Canucks do not even have a roster that has that much size to it.

Gaunce is not a physical player , can't even remember the last time Woods has played. Arsenau was injured for a period and the new guy has yet to suit up.

That leaves Mac and Archie for most games......Archie now gone. So Mac and Vinny......

  4. JG had his best game as a comet a couple of weeks ago, then I think he got hurt. Has not played since. Really expected him to have increased playing time. Archie is gone, it's not like the comets couldn't use some size.

But then again the team is on a roll so maybe it's the " if it's not broke , don't fix it" ....

My understanding is that if nothing is done by 12/31/18 - it becomes an automatic 6-year extension with 3 years guarenteed.

That makes no sense. They were negotiating an extension last year. If there was an automatic renewal there is nothing to negotiate... They will let it pass and work out something later....

  6. Entertaining game that the comets just fell short in. Had Good chances to tie it up late and Gaunce hit a post on a breakaway...

The game came down to a Cameranisi delflection past Demko and a weak goal later on.

Dahlen was back and looked pretty good but was paired with Arsenau and the putrid Cameranisi who was easily the worst player tonight. Multiple plays died on Cameranisi stick tonight. They need to find someone better than this guy, hopefully through a demotion from the Canucks.

Both teams had several ECHL call ups in their lineups. Gadjovich and Macmaster were healthy scratches.

Jostling for positioning in front of him, a Syracuse player "accidentally" fell on him, and his leg bent back with the full 200 lbs of the player on it.

No penalty called on the play.

Wasn't Farnham, at least, although he had been cheap-shotting everyone in sight.

(At least the coach didn't fist-bump when he returned to the bench  --  what a classless act by Cooper the other night)

    Springfield not Syracuse....

Sounds like Bachman is really shutting down evry attempt.

& that idiot Farmhand..is up to his roughhousing tactics. Hope he gets legally run over!

Bobby Farnham..... Comets fans would love this guy in a comets uniform. Something the comets have lacked for a few seasons....

I just wish we signed a long term deal with your city, and stayed there.  There is a real tradition and love of hockey there.  That’s a way better place for our young players to learn to be pros than a western (California) market that doesn’t even understand our game.

I don't think it matters as far as the fans go. People in the states move all over and the game is known coast to coast.

The internet and cell phones allow anyone to learn the game and stay informed.

The main difference is their are a lot more entertainment options for fans in California vrs the cold snowy northeast where hockey is the main focus.

Is there any worry back in Utica (with the fans) about losing the Vancouver connection?  Or, do fans know there that Utica is such a great market, that they will have another team signed up for next season no matter what the Canuck’s do?

No one really knows, nothing we can do about it. I doubt the Canucks extend as it will be a 3 year minimum commitment.

I see them hammering out a 1-2 year extension sometime in January as the AHL wants to know by all star weekend where each team is playing next season.

That you believe that would account for your negativity and stone-throwing here.

The comets are starting to play with heart and passion again, after a period of very lackluster games.

Most can be attributed to guys like Archie and Keep starting to put there games together.

Gaunce to center has helped and Demko has been a rock.

Not sure how long this defense can hold up in the shape it is in.

Springfield tonight and at home Saturday vrs the Devils again whom have taken out two comets in their last two meetings.

At this point, it might be better closer to home. All fans(of org) mostly on the same page. Next, drop a nuclear bomb on HFBoards!

HF boards are not that bad.

Utica humor is very sarcastic and over the top humor. A lot of people don't get it or care for it. Just the way it is here in upstate NY......

A second penalty was being called, but first had just ended on same time.  Not sure what they call that.

Score now 2 - 0. MacEneny(sp?) from Gaunce and MacEwen

It's an even strength goal, guy was out of the box and the delayed penalty was not called yet.

Not sure if this has been posted before... an Abbotsford mayoral candidate, Eric Nyvall wrote this in October:

Nyvall basically proposes a season ticket drive like Seattle/ Las Vegas did to make sure the financials work.  His full post: https://www.facebook.com/NyvallForMayor/photos/a.1908839562487943/1970074939697738/?type=3&theater

Though Nyvall lost the election to incumbent Henry Braun, it's an interesting concept.  If it only takes 4,000 tickets/ game to make the numbers work, that's a pretty low bar to clear considering there were only 6 teams in the AHL that averaged fewer than 4,000 per game last season.  Even the Heat drew ~3800 per game for 3 of their 5 years, and regularly sold out (7,000+) when the baby Canucks visited.  Don't know what Braun is willing to do, but he admitted in May he's been trying to make a deal with the Canucks:

sooner or later......But I think they wait for Seattle to locate their AHL team.

Actually, you mean, "shouldn't be his role". Your spelling might imply a dinner roll he enjoys as post game treat.

Normally I wouldn't point out such a typical misspell. But you've defined this team(you supposedly cheer for) with a pretty nasty adjective. Then IF they'd brought in a host of goons to please your thirst for blood, you'd be complaining about the lack of offense, as the 3-2 losses pile up.

Welcome to the world of two rulebooks(to all Comet fans) that our franchise has become so well acquainted with. It's how these leagues ROLL.

Roger Neilson hit the nail on the head, back in '82...

we don't need goons, just some muscle... Archie seems disinterested most nights.  Vinny and woods both out.

comets had the same issues last year and waited till guys got hurt to bring in Arseneau and Dzurinski.

That is when the team took off last winter and went on an extended streak.

Its not Rocket science, but if the Canucks want all their young players in intensive care, that is their decision..... after all they are the Professionals.

That is the Vancouver Canuck organization way. Watch our younger skilled players get hit, run, slashed etc and have 0 response. The plan is to hope we get a PP out of it and that is how we get back at the opposing team...

well, the Comets play the devils 2 more times at home in the next two weeks.....  They can not continue to put up with this stuff or they will be missing even more players.....

The Devils pushback, there was a Comet that half swatted at the Devils Goalie late in the 2nd period and he got an immediate face wash and unpleasant comments....

They comets probably sent Xmas cards over to the guy that put Dahlen and Sautner out..........

The same issue as last year and management still doesn't learn......

At least the team has come together offensively. but two games in Charlotte against a loaded Checkers team will be a test.

Sundays game is a 1pm east coast time so 10 am for the west coast........

  17. The lack of response to the Dahlen hit is typical of the ultra soft comets. It was in fact the same Devil that put Sautner out last week. The team is gutless.....

Some of the vets playing much better and has put the team on a win streak. Also Gaunce was moved into the #2 center spot and has settled down all the lines.

Really perplexed that Gadjovich has not dresses, but with Dahlen out should get some time.

Team needs to find some players with some size, grit and a set of balls, this team is gutless and  the only pushback comes from big Mac and that should not be his roll.

  18. Unexpected win against what should be a strong team in a strong division.

Comets whom started their home record at 1-6 are now 6-7 and scoring in bunches.

Boucher certainly got the message after being a scratch last weekend.

Surprisingly solid game despite 3 ECHL Defensman in the lineup. Demko with a solid game and 1st star.

Gadjovich and Palmu both did not dress.

Binghamton on Friday at home, they trounced the Amerks in Rochester tonight 5-1

  19. 2-1 after 2 periods. Game was even until the comets got into penalty trouble raking up 12 minutes worth.

Cull still using the top offensive players on the pk which is adding up to a ton of minutes for those guys. Bancks is really the only forward on pk that is not on the pp.
