  1. I listened to the interview and heard aqualina ask someone else in the room and then said it's " one and three" which to me means one year left and a 3 year renewal.

Also nothing has been announced so apparently the contract is not done, probably holding out for more $$$ but from that I also get Vancouver has decided to stay ......

  2. Boucher getting top minutes is not an issue. He needs to play so he is ready in case called up to Vancouver.

I'm sure some of these younger guys will start some games soon, the Comets have only played 2 games. Got their butts handed to them vrs the marlies, how do you think they would fare with all young

and inexperienced players in the lineup??

Game 2 was a 3-1 win against a weak team.

I think it's the woods, Darcy's And the like that will need to sit out.

  3. Comets looked much better against what should be one of the bottom teams in the division.

Only lineup change was Palmu in for Lind.

Gaudette and juolevi continue to impress.

Brisbrois will be a welcomed addition on the backend once he returns, sifers and Graham look like the keystone cops at times.

Looks like the kids are gonna get spoon fed ice time as they work their way into the lineup.  I would imagine they will be spotted against weaker teams as the season unfolds.

Charlotte next Friday will be a test, they are a big strong team and should be one of the league's top teams. Carolina has stockpiled a ton of prospects on that roster.....

Chlapik was trash talking to Woods several minutes earlier at the Ottawa net...

Woods is the son of former Utica Devil Bob Woods.  Brings some toughness, but apparently not much for brains....

Bob Woods has some Calder cups as a coach in Hershey and has been in the NHL coaching....

Cull brings it upon himself. Gaunce can play center, MacMaster is a center, Macewan is a center. Don't feed me anti benning crap when there is no story there.

Macewen, i dont see ever playing Center at this level. His stickhandling and puck control are simply not good enough to play center at this level. Macmaster did see time at center as well as Gaunce taking some faceoffs. Apparently your of mind that anyone can play center at this level, It simply is not true... This is one tough league. Canuck fans as a whole completely underestimate what it takes to play in this league.

IMO; there are  nine potential centers on the Comets: Kero, Darcy, Hamilton, Gaudette, Gaunce, Mac Master, Mac Ewen, Dahlen and Woods. They have all played center at some point in their careers. How Vancouver and the Comets choose to use them is what is up for discussion in this thread. Are they all high end C's; not by a long shot but as Vannuck59 stated: The AHL is a developmental league.

Let's face the facts, the top 2 Playmaking Centers on this team right now are Gaudette and Mac Master whom between them have about a dozen games between them of AHL  experience ???  Hell if we go back to PEE Wee or Atoms, I'm sure almost every player in the league saw time at Center. That does not mean the can do it at this level.  I think the statement is more about the lack of AHL centers and having 79 guys that are wingers...... The wild Card for me is Kero, who should be this teams #1 Center at this point. but apparently, the coach doesn't see it that way..... I just thought it was an Odd statement to make from an AHL coach.  We knew from day 1 this group needs 20 games before coming together... tonight's game should get some new guys in and we will see whom Cull elects to pull out....  and whom will be in goal....

We don't have a ton of depth down the middle....

Benning strikes again.... If that is not a jab from Cull toward Canuck management. I don't know what is...... Darcy and Woods as your #3 and 4 centers... What a joke.....

Gaudette will be there #1 centre in Utica never #3 guy..He will play over 19 mins a game PP, PK and reg shifts..

He will be playing in NHL by Xmas..

Well he has a ways to go.. pretty unnoticeable in his one game I saw. It will probably take 10-20 games to get up to speed. And if Gaudette is in the NHL by Xmas, it really makes loaning out Gagner even more stupid.....

Nice job. Hamilton and Laplante are also injured and can be taken out of the near term equation. I can see Cull keeping about 25 players initially. They have a three game weekend coming up in the second week followed by two straight 3 games in 4 days after that.  They could use a few extra bodies around for a few weeks.

Hopefully they can flip a forward or two for another defenseman. It would be the best move in my opinion.....

GM Ryan Johnson did an amazing job finding players in the ECHL that could plug all the holes the Comets had due to all the injuries they incurred.

Even Johnson praised Pat Conacher who is the one that found the ECHL players for the Comets......

IMO The Comets will be one of the top teams in the AHL this year and should be challenging for the Calder Cup at seasons end. Great environment for out future young stars to develop in!

I doubt the Comets will be a serious Calder cup contender. The AHL is one tough league, lots of young talent. The problem is it's inexperienced young talent at this level.  Some will struggle to make the transition to the pro game, others will catch on quickly.

The playoffs bring a whole new level and intensity.. and the Comets as a see them now totally lack any physical defenseman needed to be a serious playoff team.

They will struggle in the first month or two, until they find their chemistry and line combinations. They should improve as the season continues. But without some big and ugly type defenseman  really do not see a long playoff run.
