Man you are so salty. Your negativity around here has risen to the level of troll. If the canucks suck, and the comets suck, and you don't get along with any one here why do you keep coming back?

There's lots of other internet for you to get your jollies.

Have you seriously looked at the comets roster??  Sorry if some people are super sensitive and can not handle the truth.......  We are not gonna tell you how great management has been due to the fact that the comets have been mismanaged since Henning was canned.......

So 19 forwards. 10 Defensemen and 2 goalies with Kulbakov waiting in the wings.

WTF are you expecting? 6 1st year rookies, who can be rotated into the lineup. Just curious. What did you expect? Oh and by the way. You already bought your tickets. Nobody needs to sell you anything. Suck it up and enjoy the ride you whining ass pansies...

Unfortunately 1/3 of these players ever should have been signed to contracts.

And I won't even get into the slew of garbage Johnson signed for depth that are stuck in the ECHL until they decide to get real jobs..

The team is very poorly constructed and has had the same problems in their lineup for 3 seasons.

No matter.. eventually the Canucks fans will figure it out as these young prospects wallowing mediocrity which eventually will flow all the way to Vancouver.

The Canucks will be a sub 500 team for years........

I'm glad EP didn't get one whiff of that league. Neither will Hughes. OJ I trust Mgt will take all aspects into consideration.

The league is not a goon league, far from it... But there are always  two or three teams each season that will lean towards intimdation and rough housing.

The goon player is gone when Sestito retired last year. Teams employ players that can skate a regular shift and kick ass too.

The problem with the comets is all they came up with is ECHL guys in Arsenau and woods who both contribute little. Same for former comet Joe Labate...

The days of knuckle dragging goons are over......

The key is to have a couple of sizeable wingers and Defensman to keep teams in check. The comets defense is way too soft.....

That doesn't entitle anyone to speak so disrespectfully about Van's Mgt hierarchy. Hell, even someone like Gretzky wouldn't go there.

Van moving their AHL gig to Utica helped out their market tremendously. Even if both sides move on(down the road), show a lil' respect!

I am sure no Canuck fan has ever had anything negative to say about Benning.......

Might help if Benning actually did something about the gaping holes in the comets lineup that would actually help in the development of their young talent.

Benning preached 4 seasons ago about having a "winning environment" for their talent.

3 years ago he stated that Utica had "no centers"to get Virtanen the puck.

Last season they watched as player after player got run and injured due to a lineup full if smallish checking type forwards with no pushback.

Guess what... Still no centers, still a small team with little push back and not a winning environment.

As another poster stated it's easier to blow smoke up people's butts about how great of job they are doing in Utica vrs addressing the problems.........

Any/every/some/one is free to relax, of course. Regarding our top prospects, I'd prefer NO concussions before they make the show. Heck I'd rather none of our prospects are subjected to that garbage.

I'd like to see both teams(parent/farm) play hard, honest hockey. If there's cheap shot garbage going on, always protect your top youth(as an org).

Call up more ECHL big blokes if injuries abound. Tough luck for them fans..but if that's how this league rolls...

This is probably more about the fact that bingamton plays the comets in Utica 3 times later this month........ The Devils definitely set the tone against the soft comets...

No. I have no account at hf. Used to go there for info until I realized what a cesspool it is. I had no account here for years either, I just read the forums getting good info on the Canucks.

Not sure why hfcanucks exist when it seems most posters there hate the team. Whatever.  And as for goofgoalie, the guy is insufferable.

Lol..... Comets fans do not hate the Comets..... We hate inept management whom year after year fail to address obvious problems with their AHL team and then run around telling everyone that will listen about how great of job they are doing in Utica.

We are not stupid..... We can see the inept management in Vancouver all the way across the country!!!!!

Best thing to do with BG is don't respond..... He can be a hand full but he sure isn't gonna sugar coat what he is seeing......

It sounds like a really dirty, outa' control league. Apparently 2nd night in a row opponents were getting rough w/linesmen. On HFBoards, heard Comets were down to 3D, as many of our guys were being run.

Don't really want to see Juolevi thrown back into that AHL-cesspool. When the kid's healthy, send Pouliot to them. Don't send Gaudette down again!

No surprise at all, that our franchise seems to get this kind of behaviour coming their way. Do other(league darlings) ever get this intent to injure, game after game?

    *************************************************************************************

I hope the Org/Benning/RJ take this up with the league(s). Absolute bulls***.

Comets have the same problem as last season. Not enough size, push back, or physical players to deter the opposition....

The Canucks are as usual failing to address the same problems season after season......

The comets last year didn't turn the corner till some size was brought in from the ECHL....

The Athletic put together a "Future Power Ranking," of how teams will rank in the 2021-2022 season:

    https://theathletic.com/686629/2018/12/03/future-power-rankings-our-panel-projects-how-all-nhl-teams-will-slot-in-2021-22-season/

It's behind a paywall, but the factors are U25 core/ prospects (this factor is weighted twice), management and coaching, ownership and market, and the salary cap situation.

Canucks ranked 6th overall, behind the Leafs, Jets, Avs, Bruins and Sabres.  Our U25 core ranked 3rd, but our salary cap situation ranked 22nd -- due to contracts like Eriksson's.

But Eriksson, Roussel and Beagle's contracts all expire after 2021-2022, and even Luongo's retained salary hit is done after 2021-2022.  The only other contract we'll have on the books is Horvat's, which is obviously a very good deal.  Guys like Boeser will be re-signed, but looking forward three years we're in a pretty nice spot.  If our core will already be top 3, add in this year's draft, and we could be legitimate contenders in just two more seasons.

In other news, some interesting tidbits about Seattle from AHL president Dave Andrews:

If Seattle owns its own team, that significantly ups the chance that it'll be located in the Pacific Northwest.  The Tacoma Dome just underwent a $30m renovation this past summer... could be a good fit.

Strangly I just read tonight that Seattle is looking at California for it's AHL teams home.....

I don't know. I do know that the comet guys around here will find a way to pin it on the canucks.

Boucher has not been playing well, so I take it he was sent a message tonight.... That's All I got for you on that...

Springfield started the season the hottest team in the league and was the last team to lose a regulation game. Looked very frustrated with around a 500 record since......

Dahlens best game that I have seen... Also thought Palmu and Gadjovich were more involved....

Can we renew after that date?  Do the Canucks have to choose another AHL city before the 31st too, or is it just with Utica?  I don't get this.  :picard:

i doubt it is a big deal. Utica has no viable option. more than likely Utica wants 3 years or more which will not happen and the Canucks will want 1-2 seasons with a lot of outs.

The question is does the AHL want Seattle and the Canucks to establish teams at the same time, or will they be ok with the Canucks having a team all alone in the North West for a season or two?????

There's no doubt Utica's days are numbered.....

Bang on. Yes the Comets are struggling. Last I looked the Canucks are in the bottom 5 of the NHL. Fans have to take a honest look at the depth in the org. The Canucks biggest weakness is on defense IMHO. The Comets have Brisbois, Chatfield and Sauntner as 2nd year pros. Joulevi is a 1st year AHLer. Many fans would like these 4 rotated thru Vancouver and yet the Canucks have left them to get the TOI they have to have.

The Canucks have had a long history of rushing players to the NHL and not having a very deep pool of prospects. Under the current regime this has been slowly changing as they develop and assess those prospects. This is not a lot of fun for many fans but it is unavoidable.

Sautner is in his 4th season with the comets...

  12. Most of the comets fans from the beginning of the season said it would be somewhere between Thanksgiving and Xmas before the comets turn the corner.... It just takes time for the youngsters to figure it out... Hopefully some of them pick it up. If they don't it will be a very painful season in Utica.

That being said, the Canucks did themselves no favors basically surrounding their young wingers with a very weak offensive support in the form of a bunch of checking 4th liners.

Canuck management strikes yet again......for some reason they assumed the young players would carry the load, which buy the way no other AHL team expect from their rookies.

  13. Another uninspired game from the comets. The game was telivised on local cable and DirecTV and was nearly unwatchable.

At times the comets had all they could do to clear their zone, only to turn it over and have it brought right back into their zone.

Players just going through the motions, rookies just lost and uninvolved.

Still have no clue why anyone in management thought putting raw rookies without proper centers and a bunch of checking forwards was going to result in anything other than the mess they now have.

But then again they did nearly  the same exact plan  with the Canucks...  No offensive talent and inept checking forwards all over the place.

Canucks management has managed to do the unthinkable.. two teams that are unwatchable and headed to last place......

  14. I have never figured out why anyone thinks the Islanders have any interest in Utica. Never going to happen.

We do know that the rangers were reportedly interested in Albany but were blocked by the devils. Also I had heard that the Rangers were reaching out to Binghamton but were too late as they got the Devils.

So it's apparently true that the Rangers are looking around. At best Utica has a very small chance (10%or less) of getting anyone to replace the Canucks.

Most do not see the ECHL as an option here.

I agree so do you have centers in mind that would help? And how many centers would you like? , how would you acquire them now?

that should have been done over the summer like every other team in the league does...... instead it was hamilton/ Woods and echl players.....

Then I don’t understand the point you’re making.  You want the young guys to play, but ahead of the core, and then supported by Ahlers?  Correct me if I’m wrong.

Correct. Problem is half these prospects are not AHL players and the other half are lost due to no solid AHL depth. Dahlen is completely lost, Lind and Jasek struggling without proper line mates....

Putting checking forwards with skilled youngsters just is not working.....

Kero, Carcone, McMaster, Biega, Bachmann, Sautner= ECHL scraps?  Aside from Dahlen and Juolevi, the other prospects haven't played regularly, because they haven't been good enough.

Johnson did not sign a single one of those players. they were already on contracts................... try again......
