  1. Lind would have been better off playing for the Giants where he could have dominated than he would have transitioned better to the AHL sitting on the bench being scratched, showed him nothing time to clean house in Utica . Once again this shows how JB fails at prospect development.

A lot of games I’ve watched from Juolevi he gets beaten on the outside and doesn’t have the quickest feet. No denying his offensive and puck moving ability, but he still needs work on his defensive game. His coaches and people who watch him have said the same.

Maybe try reading the post I replied to? I was talking about Bouchard...

    Highjacked thread, Madden only :picard:

your not wrong, but considering Benning often goes off the boards or the unexpected route with picks I think theres a high chance he likes a player ranked lower in most draft rankings. Like a Seider, Newhook or Soderstrom type

One word Kaliyev pure sniper just like Brock

  4. Hanging on to the past at the expense of future. Sedin's  cost us lots but was it worth it I say yes get over it . Now we are moving in the right direction, move a couple of players for picks and move on manage your assets. Trade for picks. Out Virtanen, Markstrom, Goldobin, Hutton, Granlund, Sutter, Stecher Spooner, Pouliot, Schaller Tanev. Some of these should get a second ,third, maybe a first. Package for a young D man if you can.

When you have watched hockey as long as I have and you don’t know that a lot of games are fixed then you have not really been watching.

Boy you need to watch another sport . Any team can win you need to be able to play anyway. The Sedin's needed to grow a set and punch back .

For example if a player puts up just 3 goals in his rookie AHL season his probability of success goes down, that's just how it works, of course anything can happen but that doesn't mean we can't rely on odds and probabilities.  Someone like Gadjovich could turn in to a Todd Bertuzzi but I'm not going to project that because its highly unlikely at this point.

Anything can always happen. A player like Kole Lind is at this point, more likely to become a Cole Cassels than a Tyler Toffoli.  Point being, it's realistic to look at the farm system right now and say we don't have much coming.  Our college guys could prove a higher possibility once they finish their first pro seasons but that is still 2 years away, when referring to the likes of Lockwood, Madden and Rathbone.

If it wasn't for an influx of college signings at the end of the year, we would be stuck with pretty much zilch coming to our AHL club next season in terms of prospects.  5 years in and still struggling to fill our farm system with our own draft picks.  More attention needs to be paid to Utica and the lack of picks attained will begin to hurt us as our NHL youth develops and need an inexpensive supporting cast coming up to help.  It can be saved with a good FA signing or two, or it could come crashing down if we sign the wrong guy (again). Can't swing and miss on July 1st

Holly cow the sky is falling , If Benning wants to improve his prospect pool he should concentrate on picking better players after the 3 round clearly drafting a small Fin and Russian where   a waste of picks. He needs to acquire more picks in the first and second round . Scout every league abroad and sign free agents that he can turn around at the dead line and sell. you look at Montreal . Just about a playoff team this year and last year they were worse than us. Make trades don't sit on your hands and hope and wish.

Some how, knowing Bennings MO, if we are doing better, which I believe we will, then he will be reluctant to be moving Markstrom mid-season.

Personally....I love Benning, but he doesn't exactly show nerves of steel...……...

Personally, I am mixed as to when to move Markstrom….sooner than later, but I do not think that is happening.

Move him at the draft get a top 10 pick it would be defining in the Canucks future.

  8. This teams drafting has been fine.THE HANDLING of prospects maybe could be done better. More help for Utica is needed. JBs problem is he doesn't acquire enough first or second round picks.THIS IS DONE BUY TURNING OVER your roster. Not hanging on to them  until they skate off into the sunset. Trading a Goalie right now would be one of the times that could be a franchise turning moment.

  9. Long Grind trying to do too much over thinking is the problem. He is playing like he is unsure  and makes way more mistakes  Greens system seems to coach the offense out of players. You can see that when Pettersson's  line is on they get hemmed in their own end a lot. JB can fix this with a better D core.  A Big Skilled forward is what Pettersson and Boeser need added to their left wing to excel going forward. Kakko anyone

Tom Wilson 6' 4" 220 lb.  Jake is 6' 1" 212 or 215 lb.  I'd say there is a bit of a difference in size.  Also, I wouldn't want Wilson on my team.

Why not Wilson on EPs wing, I would say you would want him!!!!!!

    Just a question...………..

What would Virtanen and Hutton bring in the form a young 2nd line RWer for Horvat's line?

Maybe trade him to Tampa for one of their forwards that they cant aford

Pretty rare for a centre to have a hard time shifting to being a winger. Madden has the drive and offensive tools this team needs. 1 more year in the NCAA and then fighting for a spot in the NHL.

Love how Benning has been drafting high character guys. Love the way this team is shaping up going forward.

    _(Zegras)_-Pettersson-Boeser

    Leivo-Horvat-Madden

    Virtanen-Gaudette-Lind

    Lockwood-Sturm-MacEwen

    Hughes-Woo

    Juolevi-__(Seider)_

    Tryamkin-Stecher

This team would run over in the playoffs

  13. JB drafting is suspect at best lets take a look at his first round hits and misses

Draft 1 , 2014,Pick #6  Jake Virtanen , consensus  pick average 13th, on the board BPA (Fleury, Ehlers, Nylander, Ritchie) Miss

Pick # 24 Jared McCnan , consensus pick average 11th on the board BPA ( Pastrnak ,Scherbak) both rated in the 20 to 25 range HIT

Draft 2, 2015 Pick # 23 Brock Boeser, consensus pick 23 on the board BPA (nailed it took who he should have.)

Draft 3, 2016 Pick # 5 Olli Joulevi, consensus pick 7 , on the board BPA ( Matthew Tkackuk) a big mistake

Draft 4, 2017 Pick # 5 Elis Pettersson consensus pick 12th on the board BPA ( none) Big win

Not to bad after all , Joulevi may pan out , Virtanen is a 3rd line player at best

True enough.  This guy is not a kid, who will get physically more mature.  He’s 24!  What we see now, is what he is.  Sure, he will adapt and learn, but he’s at his physical peak right now.  Play the guy, and then dump him.  I’m not at all hopeful this guy is going to be a player.  Seriously, he’s 24!

Alf you forgot to take your meds
