What do you propose the feds should’ve done?

Been more prepared with a process in place to ensure the billions given away to assist legitimate persons that lost jobs were not being given to fraudulent persons.

There is already tons of evidence showing high levels of fraud to the point where the government is now threatening to jail people or fine them.  The government was completely ill prepared for this huge dispersal of funds.

I agree that CERB was much needed in the beginning.  But it can't continue as it is currently now structured.

Here's an example of what is happening.  My friend runs a business.  He had to let go all of his staff and run it with just his immediate family.  Now that restrictions have lifted and a clearer idea of what is needed, he cannot get back the people he laid off.  Why?? Because all of them are getting CERB and don't have to work for it.  There is absolutely no incentive for them to come back at this time since they are basically getting free money for staying at home.

    Yep.

Good ole justin has opened up my wallet, yours, and every other taxpayers and told those that don't want to work to just reach in as many times as they want.

Lol I mean I lost my job because of the pandemic as did a lot of other people I know so I really appreciate the financial support from the government. And if you didn’t lose your job that’s great but it also makes your opinion on the financial assistance kinda irrelevant.

    Haha sure pal.

Would you rather be less restrictive like the USA?

USA Population is about 330M. They are currently at 2M infected.  So about 0.6% get infected.  Death count of 115,000.  So about a death rate of 5.7% for those that get infected.

Canada population is 37M.  For 0.6% =  222,000 infected.  For 5.7% death rate =  12,540 death count for Canada.  However, the current death % hovers around 8%.  So it could be possibly up to 17,760 death count.  Right now the death count is about 8000.

    Some food for thought.

I know hindsight is 20-20. I am not totally sure of what the answer is. But I do know that if we completely destroy the economy over this, things are going to get a hell of a lot worse for hundreds of thousands of people....not just 167.

Trudeau doesn’t control how BC handles this though, John Horgan and Bonnie Henry do. BC’s handling of this has been great, the rest of Canada got hit a lot harder. Not sure what BC’s low numbers have to do with the whole country.

My comment with respect to turdeau is the 200 billion dollars he continues to give away and he increases it every other day.

  6. Since January, on average about 16,250 people have died from all causes in British Columbia (3000-3500 per month on average).

167, or 1% has been from covid.

Media needs to quit fear mongering and politicians need some common sense. Unfortunately, that turd trudeau will destroy Canada before this is all done.

well while your at it, why not trade Pettersson, Hughes and Boeser and then keep the guys that can't score!!!!!

What a bizarre thing to type.

If you want to trade Petey and Hughes maybe you should find another team.  :picard:

I want to watch both those superstars for years on my Canucks team.

Absolute no to Tanev on a multi-year deal. Unless it's at one hell of a discount.

...YEAH...why would you want to keep your best defensive D man that just had a great season playing with Hughes.....

    lol

Some good talk on Tryamkin and Tanev today on Sportsnet 650..They mention Tryamkin was not happy on his KHL team this year and his "C" was removed from his jersey?? Was that not the same issues here 3 yrs ago??? Like Sportsnet guys were saying he just might have that type of personality??

For sure Tryamkin is not a top 4 D man like so many fans think..At best he is a #5 D man plays between 14 -- 16 mins a game...Need to be on a friendly cap at most 2 yrs X 1.8 million show me more deal..

Tanev_- The guys had mixed feelings..4.5 million is over paying a stay at home D man that might play 60 games- 20 points...His body has been worn down with his serious injuries over the last 4 years??

Stetcher -- He was playing up to 18 mins last 10 games but he is not a # 4 guy...Solid depth guy and # 5 D man? UFA- maybe trade or depth ?

Rafferty  - Should be ready to fill # 5 D spot at $750,000

Save Tanev money and maybe sign a UFA Barrie and have 2 offensive guys on first and second defence units..

Another option sign Taffoli --Then trade either Boeser or Virtanen for that # 3 D man.....Boeser would bring back better return and his salary of 5.9 million..

    Myers - Hughes

    Edler - Barrie

    Rafferty - Benn

I hope Tanev and Toffoli are resigned.

tryamkin....wow...big surprise he didn't like yet another of his teams.  I would only sign him if it was cheap so he can show he can play in the NHL. He is only a 5/6 D man...he won't make the difference. I like what he brings, if he could just have an ego smaller than his body.

This is serious, Its ok to make jokes about it though I dont mind.

I am wondering what I should do with my love life in general. I am 19 and I am very isolated. My whole life i believed I was straight but when I entered high school as a freshman I started to fall in love with an older boy who has occasionally bullied me. I really enjoyed all the attention he would give me even though a lot of times it was negative and humiliating for me. As time went on, we became normal friends but i never told him how I felt and then he graduated.

Ever since then, I feel like my whole being has been messed up and shuffled around. I still feel attracted to girls but romantically nothing is there, and when it comes to guys I want them to treat me like $&!#.

    what should i do??

    My advice:

...don't post this on a hockey blog.

JB will figure it out. I Fully expect JB  to get them (Toffoli, Tanev, Markstrom) signed to reasonable contracts.  JB will need to trade players like, sutter, Roussel, Eriksson, Benn, Myers,(all serviceable players who are worth something) to open up spots for cheaper elc or rfa contracts, players like Mcewen, Hoglander, Tryamkin, Rafferty.

JB won't trade Myers. That would be admitting it was a mistake to sign him.

I hope some of these players start to finally realize they are not an essential service, and how many lives do hockey players save.

When it comes to their contracts they make more in a year than most underpaid front line workers do in their whole life time, so let that sinkin.

Just trying to be real about this.I love this game and don't want it tarnished by greed.

All pro sports have been tarnished by greed for decades, including the NHL.

No #2 D man are valuable and every team needs a strong defence..Buffalo has been talking about trading Risto for a few years..

Boeser would  be a perfect fit for Buffalo who need a winger for Jack Eichel.....

Vancouver needs a young D man under 27 like Risto...

I would make this trade only if Benning can sign Taffoli ...

Boeser would be a steep price for Risto...but I would consider doing it also.

If JB can sign Toffoli we still have a very good top 6 even without Boeser. And Risto would upgrade our D alot....his size and nastiness is sorely needed imo.

Next season won't start before December or even January regardless of whether they finish this season or not.  It's not viable for the league to operate without fans in the stands and they hope by delaying the start to next season there will be a better chance at normalcy.

They project to lose 1 billion if this season isn't completed - it's a 5 billion dollar league.  They estimate they can get back 300M to 500M if they play those games.  It's still a considerable loss.  Players are sharing the losses through the 50/50 split of hockey related revenue.

Poor ole billionaires.  What will they do??!!

Just don't re-sign Toffoli.  Doesn't that solve this pending problem?

Teams don't just let top line players go. If the Canucks can sign Toffoli for a reasonable contract then you do it.

Trade another asset if needed, but you don't give away assets.

If Toffoli walks on July 1st and/or the Canucks don't make a deep run in the playoffs, this is an absolute disaster of a trade. Still way too early to assess this deal.

If Toffoli is part of an underdog Canuck team that wins the Stanley Cup in September in a weird year then this is an absolute steal of a trade!!

Yeah...we can all play the IF game.

I thought the consensus on CDC was that OJ will be better than the Tkachuk pick...if that's the case, I'd do it in a heart beat, if I was the Isles

Dobson and OJ haven't done anything in the NHL yet....but both have potential. The Isles get a potential Dman who will be close to a Dobson if OJ reaches his potential, and they would be getting a power forward who is ready to breakout.

Need to keep selling the potential when the cupboards are full with the top prospects....Dobson is still potential but I like his potential better than OJs, who is the sweetener to the 40-50 pts power forward trade.

    :picard:

No team is taking OJ and trading anything of significance in return. Good god this is bad lol.
