I like that if we could get 3OA from Columbus for our 1st and Demko, I might just also do that.

Problem is, I think putting Silovs in net as starter would be foolish at this point. It wouldn't be putting him in a position to succeed.

Who's going to be our starter in net if Demmer's gone?

LA was looking to dump Cal Petersen.

I was thinking the same thing except Hoglander instead of Garland.

After taking a look at their winger depth, Garland and Hoglander doesn't seem like a good fit for Columbus.  I think they'd want a legit top 6 center if they're trading the 3rd OA.

I think CBJ is really down on Merzlikins.  He basically crapped their season.  So they may want to upgrade on net.

Silovs is amazing , stopped 40 of 41 to beat Sweden and take Latvia to the Final.

Demko - Boeser ( add Hoglander or Garland) and our 2023 1st rnd pick

for: the Blackhawks 2023 1st rnd pick

        (Bedard)

No way CHI trades the 1st overall.

However, that package might land CBJ #1 pick.  I think Demko is what CBJ needs most.  Merzlikins was just terrible in net.

    To Chicago:

    2023 11OA pick

    Conor Garland

    Tucker Poolman

    Anthony Beauvillier

    Tanner Pearson

    To Vancouver:

    2023 19OA pick

    2023 35OA pick

I would also want back VAN 2024 2nd round draft from CHI.

This way we can also dream of Canucks making an offersheet in the summer.  :P

Even though we'd likely take a step back next year, I'd do that trade. A Petey-Carlsson 1-2 punch at center has potential to be the best 1-2 punch in the league in a couple years and for close to a decade. Add to that if Peeke has chemistry with Hughes he might be the perfect long-term partner.

    Tempting.

Carlsson is 6’3” and 194lbs. That’s some nice size on the kid.

Honestly, you probably would have a hard time replacing Myers. Unless you're trading Myers for another top 4 dman? Otherwise we're going to be forced into locking a guy up with more term via free agency, or bleeding even more assets just to fill the void he left.

    True.

It’s damned if you do and damned if you don’t. BUT considering most posters here nickname him as “Chaos Giraffe”, keeping him doesn’t make much sense if wanting to make the playoffs.

Trading Myers now would be a stupid move........by the tdl they will actually get something for him.

    Depends.

By trading Myers the Canucks can get cap space and thereby getting a player that they want at the start of the season.  The goal is to make the playoffs.  If Canucks are trading Myers at the trade deadline, pretty much means they are out of the playoff picture.

So what would you rather have?  Possibly playoffs or a draft pick?

  8. Canucks are in cap hell and other teams know it.  Best we can hope for is trading some players for “future considerations” and maybe retaining.

    Something like…

Beau + Myers to CHI for future considerations.  Both have 1 yr left on their contract.  So CHI can probably flip them for draft picks at the TDL.

I don’t think there are many suitors that want Garland at that price.   Canucks retain a bit and trade for a low draft pick.  Possibly a buyout candidate.  2yrs at below $1M cap hit followed by 4yrs at below $2M cap hit.

I think Boeser would garner some interest but would definitely need to retain maybe $2M.  Buyout would be 4yrs at just above $2M.

I’m expecting Pearson and Poolman to be on LTIR giving the seriousness of their medical problems.
