Still have to be compliant before you can put guys on LTIR.
They can probably paper down some guys like Podz and Dries.

Why would they pay to acquire those guys, when they can pick them up for free on waivers, or be paid to take from cash strapped teams.
We're 1.6 million dollars over the cap already, nobody is coming to take contracts back without us sending assets with them.
That’s with Pearson and Poolman included. There will be a little wiggle room once they are put on LTIR.
But yeah, Canucks still need to create cap space and no teams will be doing them any favours.
-
If Pearson and Poolman start the year on LTIR, there will be some wiggle room on the Salary Cap.
But the Canucks still need to trade out some players to create cap space.

With what cap space!?
Once VAN trades Garland/Boeser/Beau

Why? The team needs a right handed defenseman with a lot more to offer than Jones.
It’s a cap dump.
Like Dickinson + 2nd for Stillman.
-
It’ll be Garland + 2nd 2025 to CHI for Caleb Jones.
-
I think VAN trades the #11 pick for a young top 4 RHD or some other immediate help.
I mean all the naysayers were saying that EP, Demko, and Hughes wouldn’t stick around for a rebuild. So having a draft pick that will take a few years to get into the NHL doesn’t help them get into the playoffs next year.
Right right right????

McKinnon starts his new $12.6M deal next season. Got to think they will trade futures to go deep as they have the core now.
I see possible trade baits in Newhook, Byram, and draft picks to bolster their roster.- 1

Debatable
Really??
Pretty sure they tanked to get Lemieux.
The other time they nabbed Fleury, gifted Crosby, and then Malkin. All 1st overall in a span of a few short years.

So Bedard is going to play with Tyler Johnson and Jason Dickinson? Wow…
Not even Gretzky could put up points with those pylons…
Chicago is worse than Abbotsford. They literally have no NHL players on their team…
No worries.
CHI will win the draft next year and get the other Vancouver boy Celebrini and have their #1 and #2C set.
CHI Draft
2023: 1st x 2, 2nd x 4, 3rd x 2
2024: 1st x 2, 2nd x 2, 3rd x 2
2025: 1st x 2, 2nd x 2, 3rd x 1
And they have tons of cap space to take on bad contracts for additional draft picks.

You actually think we're trading away Bedard just like that? For a 4D, 3C and a 2W? Laughable.
(I'm just speaking into existence our lottery win)
The order for the draft will be decided this Monday May 8th.

It would take an overpay offer to let go of Miller. Or get the other team to take on a player the Canucks want to get rid of (ie. Poolman, Myers, OEL, a winger).

The Rangers went 1-18 on the power play in the last 5 games. You don’t think Miller could have helped them on the PP?
The Rangers traded for a bunch of soft, over the hill wingers who didn’t do squat in the series. Kane and Tarasenko combined for 1 goal in the last 5 games. Trochek is not even a 2C. He had one point in the entire series.
Miller would have given them the extra edge to win the series. He certainly would have helped them more than those soft over the hill wingers they traded for. And quite frankly, Trochek isn’t even good enough to hold Miller’s jockstrap…
Who know what could have happened.
I also would think Miller would have been a better TDL acquisition for NYR.

Doesn’t the 2023 projected 1st overall pick also want to be a Canuck?
Yes.
Bedard (2023 draft) wants to be a Canuck. He was born in North Vancouver and Canucks is his favourite team.
Celebrini (2024 draft) is also a Vancouverite and wants to be a Canuck as well.

If they wanted Boeser they would have added him for nothing at the TDL last year when we were trying to clear cap space.
Nobody is paying a 1st for Boeser and his contract. You're taking a bad contract back, not landing a 1st.
They're better off taking a run at a free agent than giving up that pick for an underperforming overpaid winger.
Take advantage of desperate GMs.
