  1. Did they win the Sunday game ? Thought was a very under whelming performance by Hughes on Saturday. For those who watched.....anyone else have trouble seeing how that type of game translate to the NHL ? I'm sure he can adjust, but looked very light on skates and always out of position....just using his superior skating to cover up.
  2. I think "follicular retention" may prove to be Elias's only weakness. I think we'll see him sporting the Sundin Doo by 23
  3. I think an overlooked bonus that comes with EPs emergence...is that we're gonna add 2 legitimate top 6 players.. I have to believe he is going to elevate Loui's game back to what we expected when we signed him. 2 quiet apples opening night to go with a very responsible 2 way game. With all the Swedish following that we inevitably will see w/EP...gotta believe Loui's gonna play his best hockey. Could easily see 30/30 out of him this year.
  4. I hope no one who is able to have an individual thought on their own... honestly believes any of this non sense. We own the media...and therefore we own your thoughts... Trump bad...trump nominees bad. We will get our 9th puppet on the Supreme court and just try to stop us.. I wish Judge Scalia just would have listened better..
  5. We're gonna suck this year with or without Tanev. If the goal is to compete for the Cup year in and year out...there seems to be a fairly consistent model As has been proven by the Hawks Penguins and Kings...you need 4-5 similarly aged star players to develop around. (Even our beloved locals fall into this category ..circa 2008) For the first time in over a decade...we have three. If we can add a similarly aged 21-23 impact winger and Dman we're well on the way. These players are obviously very hard to come by....but it does happen. Usually, as is the case with Nylander, in a contract dispute. IMO ...any player who will not be a significant contributor during the 20-26 seasons is expendable. This would include the Edler, Tanev, Sutter, Erix(obviously) group...as well as maybe even a couple yr down the road draft picks. While JV and OJ should still b valued...if coupling them with one of the other guys brings a Seguin, a(Jones/Werenski),a Nylander (to a lesser extent), it should be explored. 3rd/4th line players and 4th-6th Dmen are always available...(we have about 17 of them)
  6. Why ? Because for 2m/yr he'd rather live closer to home ? See if 5-6/yr would have elicited a different response from Ryan or Miss DeWoof.
  7. Goalies are a dime a doz....could've kept/paid Miller if wanted to win. Could prob have Cory back for peanuts if we were a playoff team Every time some new guy emerges...it frees one up. The Ben Bishops ,MAFs etc. Still shaking my head over the contracts JB gave Markstrom and Nillson.. Neither guys a difference maker...similar guys available all the time Who were we competing with ?? I doubt the Habs will ever win a playoff round paying a goalie 10m/yr
  8. I was thinking the same thing... I think EP and Brock are destined to play together...you can see it on the PPs. They seem to be each others 1st option..even when opposite sides of the ice. Honestly feel they can become a Gretzky/Kurri Oates/Hull type pairing. Who was the 3rd winger on these lines ?.....exactly Why not give Jake a look with these type of talents...maybe rubs off and elevates his game a bit. Can also see Rousell being a good fit w/them. Bo and Baer can head up the 2nd line. We're really in need of another couple Top 6 guys to be a contender.. I wonder what it would take to get Nylander from the Leafs. They really have some major Cap issues ahead...and honestly feel they'd be willing to move him. (Tanev and a cheap Winger do it ?) I think ideally would be someone between the ages of Bo and EP. Our 1st rounder next year will be 6 yrs younger than Bo I think these 3 guys..EP/Bo and Brock are enough to build a core around
  9. My gawd does EP ever see the ice.....Gretzkyesque
  10. The team has to feel good today w/EPs performance. Kudos to them for not going out and chasing a stop gap 2C...Think is a perfect, very low pressure situation for Elias to get accustomed to the NHL. Elias and Bo will be a great 1-2 punch for many years... Looking fwd to watching Gaudette tonite also...
  11. Jakes situation is what it is. We all hope he develops into this impactful power forward, but the truth of the matter is that no one knows. To say that all involved with the decision to draft Jake where we did are pleased with the pick are being disingenuous. Jake recently signed a 2yr 1.25 million/yr contract...this is his current value in the league in which he plays. Ehlers and Nylander are both going to be paid north of 5.25 million/yr....this is their current value in the same league. Please don't respond with "I'd rather have JV at 1.25 blah,blah"...that is not the discussion here Jake has been a major disappointment so far....but his story is far from being complete. Hopefully, he's able to continue his progression that warrants his lofty draft selection.
  12. Thanks Stawns...was worried we'd have to wait it out for the coaching staff to make that determination.
