  3. VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - More snow has arrived in many parts of the Lower Mainland, and a lot more is expected in the next few hours. News1130 meteorologist Russ Lacate says areas throughout the region will see between five to 10 centimetres of snow beginning overnight. That means some students may get the day off. Tune into News1130's morning show and we'll let you know of any school closures. A number of extreme weather programs have kicked in in the Lower Mainland. Pastor Robin Ross at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Mission says mats, blankets and food are being prepared. He says the real problem is having to turn away people when the extreme weather programs are not in effect. I guess school may be closed tomorrow.

Greater Vancouver 3:39 PM PST Monday 7 January 2008 Snowfall warning for Greater Vancouver continued Snow will develop over some areas of the south coast tonight and Tuesday with snowfall amounts near 5 cm over the Lower Mainland and up to 20 cm near Howe Sound expected. Local snow and ice pellet amount 2 to 4 cm. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. An intense frontal system will approach the coastal areas of British Columbia tonight. Southeast winds up to 90 km/h will develop ahead of the front over northern coastal sections this evening and southeast winds up to 70 km/h will develop later tonight over exposed southern coastal sections. Strong southeast winds are expected to abate early Tuesday morning with the passage of the front. Meanwhile the front will spread periods of snow to some regions of the south coast tonight and Tuesday. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 20 cm are expected by Tuesday afternoon. Snow will change or become mixed with rain Tuesday afternoon in some areas.
  5. The warning was up since last night unless you guys weren't using Environment Canada website. Weather network is useless they're always inaccurate.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A vigorous frontal system over the pacific is approaching the coast of British Columbia. Strong southeasterly winds of 50 to 70 km/h will spread over the south coast late Thursday morning ahead of the system. Winds are forecast to abate Thursday evening with the passage of the front. This system will also spread snow or a mix of rain and snow to many regions of the British Columbia coast. For the coastal sections of the central coast a few flurries are expected this evening before snow from the frontal system arrives overnight tonight with a total of 5 cm of expected by Thursday afternoon. For Greater Vancouver and western sections of the Fraser Valley snow will begin early Thursday morning with 5 to 10 cm of snow expected by late Thursday evening. Yes we're in for another snow storm. By the way I just got home from North Van and the side streets all have form black ice right now. Very slippery.

  9. You're right 70-100mm of rain for the lower mainland which is more if you include the melting of the snow. Fraser Valley will see 120-160mm of rain.
  10. I just walk out to buy something. The slush is just ugly. You'll get wet no matter how hard u try not to. Have fun walking to school guys.

  13. Greater Vancouver 4:38 AM PST Sunday 2 December 2007 Rainfall warning for Greater Vancouver issued Rainfall amounts of 60 to 80 mm for Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley - west including Abbotsford and 70 to 100 mm for Howe Sound expected tonight through Monday.

  15. Albertans put sand on the road which make life a whole lot easier. In Vancouver snow doesn't last for more than 2-3 days. Temp will raise very quickly and in return slushy roads. Alberta is snow, sunshine, snow, sunshine.

Greater Vancouver 10:43 AM PST Saturday 1 December 2007 Snowfall warning for Greater Vancouver continued Snowfall amounts of 15 to 40 cm over east and Inland Vancouver Island and 10 to 20 cm elsewhere by Sunday morning. 20 cm in the lower mainlad weee better go out tomorrow and enjoy the snow cause we're going to get slushy fast.

Additional snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm of snow between 4pm and midnight. Additional snowfall amounts of 3 to 6 cm between midnight and 6am. Sunday, December 2nd Snow High 1°C Periods of snow. Snow possibly becoming mixed with rain in the afternoon. Windy at times. Additional snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.
  19. When it only flurries the whole day it doesn't acculumate that much. About 2 cm by evening then the snow will really pick it up.
  20. The heavier stuff will fall this evening. Get ready to shovel tomorrow morning.
  21. In the GVRD it will start sometime in the afternoon. Over at the island it will start this morning. Sunday temp will rise to plus 4 so expect rain at lower elevations. 5-10 cm expected.
  22. We're finally getting some good dumping of snow instead of mix rain/snow in lower elevations. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements. A low pressure system will develop just offshore of Vancouver Island tonight. It will combine with cool Arctic air to produce snow over most areas of the south coast Saturday through Sunday morning. Strong easterly outflow winds through the mainland inlets will help to enhance precipitation over the eastern side and inland sections of Vancouver Island where snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are expected by Sunday morning. Elsewhere snow amounts of 5 to 15 cm can be expected. Meanwhile a ridge of high pressure over Yukon is generating strong northerly outflow winds through the valleys and inlets of the north and central coast. Stronger wind speeds and cooler temperatures are expected for tonight through Saturday leading to wind chill values dropping to near minus 20.
