  1. Just a reminder for ya Curt! Don't want to lose out on any Letang points!

Did I miss a player moving down or something somewhere? I have it marked down to recall him but haven't seen a roster spot open up yet... I'll search back and double check.

  3. So, Gagner expected to play tonight for the Oilers...

Just curious, but wasn't he supposed to be out "at least 6-8 weeks" with that broken jaw?? Funny how the prognosis for Oiler players is always so bleak, especially while they're tweeting pictures before Kassians hearing, and then they make a miraculously speedy recovery, isn't it?

I mean, RNH was supposed to be out until November 1st, but he came back Oct. 7th. Gagner was expected to miss until mid-November at the earliest, and he's back already.

I have to wonder if their doctors are just really terrible at determining a timeline, or if they're doing it to try and increase the severity of suspensions against players who commit fouls against their team? Not saying the Kassian suspension wasn't warrented, I would have given him something for being so reckless with his stick. But I still think 8 games is excessive for an accidental errant high stick. But I digress....

Given the league's penchant for suspending based on injury rather than by the action, do you guys think this sort of thing is common practice by some teams, to announce/make potential injuries in these cases seem much worse than they are to try and get a longer suspension for the other teams players? Some players just heal faster, and that could be the case here of course, not screaming conspiracy or anything, but in such a competitive league and given the ineptitude of the league to get a proper handle on suspensions, I wonder if this is a strategy that some teams would employ??

  4. Knowing Torts.... It won't be announced until after 12pm

 Probably true... hoping to catch someone semi-credible on Twitter at least before then. If I hear nothing, I'll probably activate him just before noon.

  5. WAIVERS: The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed Nick Schultz off waivers from the St. Louis Blues.

(As CBJ currently has no active roster spot for Schultz, he will be automatically placed on waivers at 9:50am Oct.29th if a roster spot is not cleared for him by then, or if CBJ places Schultz on waivers before then)

  6. ASSIGNMENT: The Winnipeg Jets have sent Eric Tangradi and Tyson Barrie to their minor league team in Revelstoke.

RECALL: The Winnipeg Jets have recalled Nathan Beaulieu from the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

  7. Thanks c2x! I need it as Holland scored his first goal of the season today :)

Not done updates yet so maybe it hinges on something I haven't gotten to yet, but at first glance, I don't see how you can call him up, your roster is full....?

  8. Sorry, c2x, I gotta disagree with you on this one. What would you have Roy do? They're 9-1. If they were losing then I could see the need to criticize but right now he seems to have his guys clicking on all cylinders.

I can understand your frustration when the coach won't play the young guys, remember I have Elliott playing in Lake Erie even further down the depth chart (but at least he's playing), but young players sometimes do need to go through this adversity. Think of it this way, Barrie is learning about being around a young winning team, he will force his way into the lineup by playing at a high level, or he will come to the rescue of the team once they cool off. It's only 10 games in.

Just be glad AV isn't his coach. Roy will play him, just not right now.

Young players need to play to hone their skills. If the Canucks had kept Horvat or Shinkaruk up, played them in 4 games and then sat them, saying at least they're around a winning team, we'd be fuming over how the Canucks were mismanaging them and how their development would be better served getting lots of ice time in junior. Like you said, at least Elliott is playing.

9-1 is all well and good, but does anyone really expect them to sustain this? They still have issues on the blue line that their goaltending has been able to mask so far. But do they really believe that any one of Nate Guenin, Cory Sarich or Andre Benoit is a long term solution? I have no problem with playing the hot hand (especially Benoit, who has been good), but like I said, how is Barrie supposed to shore up his defensive game, which is admittedly a weak point, if he's just watching games from the press box? Barrie was the Avs best defenceman last season and had a decent camp, wasn't on the ice for a goal against in his 4 games this year, and this is how he's rewarded?

  9. have tyson in the other league..thats pretty annoying

some games off is okay..but not permamently

Tyson Barrie has the skill and ability to be a top 4 defenceman right now and be a big asset on the power play.

If Roy is dead set against playing him, then trade him and stop holding the kid back. How's he supposed to shore up his defensive game from the press box?

  10. ASSIGNMENT: The Winnipeg Jets assign Nathan Beaulieu to their minor league club in Revelstoke.

RECALL: The Winnipeg Jets recall Tyson Barrie from their minor league club and place him on their active roster. (on the off chance that Patrick Roy finally pulls his head out of his behind and plays him)
