  1. Evil Human Resources Director Paw Lee, my cat, (think Bruce Lee meets Edward Szissor Hands meets honey I shrunk the Kids) is appointed new Rangers assistant coach. Outgoing assistant coach, Tikka the Valhund, is embarrassed about the accident, but knows she is a good girl deep down inside, and wants the team to win, and bacon. Mostly she wants bacon.

The Jets have bacon... willing to part with it for the right return.

  2. The Nashville Predators place/dress Matt Pelech as a defensemen to make a forward roster spot as we are calling Nikita Kuhcherov up from Medicine Hat.

Nashville also activates Saku Koivu from the LTIR and is inserted in our lineup.

Updated lineup via head coach Barry Trotz

    Doan-Barkov-Jagr

    MacArthur-Santorelli-Upshall

    Kucherov-Holland-Koivu

    Dvorak-Moore-Fiddler

    Crombeen-?-Gionta

    Phaneuf-Phillips

    Weaver-Allen

    Martinez-Brookbank

    Grebeshkov-Pelech

23 man roster limit. You can recall Kucherov, or you can activate Koivu. Without making another move to free up a roster spot, you can't do both.

  3. Enjoy the 2014 first round pick. I'm determined to make it as late as possible!!

Here's a question. If I would have done those trades with better teams that are 1st and 2nd would the ruling still be me giving up my 1st round pick? Or is this an effort to turn Colombus around?

I remember last year when I was last I received a lot of breaks from the league, like anybody that I wanted to sign I got haha. . So I don't mind doing it.

I'd also like to note that 'being able to sign anybody you wanted' wasn't an effort to help your club turn things around. It was a by-product of your club having multiple holes in the roster. The players you offered for, some had multiple teams interested, but Carolina offered the best situation for those players in regards to holding places on the roster and getting ice time. It was an effort to accurately reflect a players desire to play and not be moved up and down between the big club and the minors.

The one that might be questionable was Antoine Roussell, but after another team had agreed to a contract with Antoine, they graciously stepped aside to allow Carolina to sign him after miscommunication had one agent post a deal with the Canes before the other teams contract was posted. If that was an effort to help turn Carolina around, you'd have to ask that GM.

  4. The decision would have been the same regardless of which team it had been that made the error or which team would have been the benefactor. Losing a 1st round pick for any team sucks but Columbus entered into the trade to acquire the 2nd round pick in good faith, as did the previous teams in each deal. The Blue Jackets deserved to be compensated in a fair manner, which is a pick of equal or greater value, in this case, the offending teams 1st round pick.

It is definitely unfortunate and I'm sure an honest mistake by all involved, I don't believe anyone had any malicious intent in the situation. But the fact remains that teams have to be responsible for their roster and the moves they make, and this ruling both corrects the issue and sends that message. If my club had been the one to mix up and Boston was the club deserving compensation, my 1st round pick would be heading to the Bruins (it's not though, don't get excited greens :P ). Position in the standings or who runs the team do not come into play. The integrity of the league depends on keeping these things on even ground for every team that competes in our league.

I appreciate the honesty in the question though, as always I'm open to questions, comments and constructive criticism. It's the best way to grow and evolve the game and make sure it's the best league it can possibly be.

  5. Thank you! and my sheet looks up to date.

Everyone have a fantastic week, just in case I don't find time to log on until Friday. Oh, unsigned Prospects: may we deal with them to get them signed now, or do we have to wait?

You can sign them now, but this season would count as the first year of their deal.

  6. The Carolina 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection belongs to Philadelphia.

Looking at how Columbus got the pick:

    July 5, 2013

    To CAR:

    Tom Gilbert

TB 2014 3rd Round Draft Selection

    To TB:

CAR 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

    Aug. 23, 1013

    To BUF:

    Jeremy Morin

    Tomas Jurco

    Johnny Oduya

    Samuel Morin

CAR 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

    To TB:

    Dan Boyle

    Tyler Bozak

    Cameron Schilling

BUF 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

    Oct. 1, 2013

    To BUF:

    Marcus Johansson

    To CBJ:

    Tyler Biggs

BUF 2014 1st Round Draft Selection

CAR 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

BUF 2014 3rd Round Draft Selection

Looking at how Philadelphia got the pick:

    March 8, 2013

    To CAR:

    Miikka Kiprusoff

    Keith Aucoin

    To WSH:

    Thomas Greiss

MTL 2013 2nd Round Draft Selection

CAR 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

    Dylan Blujus

    To MTL:

    Zach Boychuk

    April 3, 2013

    To WSH:

    Andrew Cogliano

    To PHI:

MTL 2013 2nd Round Draft Selection

WSH 2013 3rd Round Draft Selection

CAR 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

CGY 2014 3rd Round Draft Selection

As you can see, Philadelphia's acquisition of the draft pick pre-dates any of the trades that led to the Blue Jackets acquiring the selection, and so the Flyers retain possession of the draft pick.

As for Columbus, they entered into a trade (as did the teams prior to them) in good faith with the understanding that the draft pick was involved, and so the Blue Jackets are entitled to compensation from the offending team. As the trade history outlines, Carolina dealt the draft pick twice. Teams are required to ensure they know what assets they have at their disposal and which ones they have moved.

FINAL DECISION: The Carolina Hurricanes are required to award one of their 1st Round Draft selections (CAR 2014 1st Round Pick or CAR 2015 1st Round Pick) to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I would be the big loser hear but the riders won the grey cup so I'm too happy right now.

Sorry for that guys, i will look a some of my old pms and see what I did wrong.

Can I wait til the end of the year to decide what pick to give up

Must be awarded by December 1st.

With the deadline passed, the Columbus Blue Jackets have been awarded Carolina's 1st Round Draft Selection in 2014 as per league mandate.

  7. Oh one last thing: i have an FC that has come ripe for me. Ryan Whitney can not possibly meet the FC obligation of playing in 65 regular season games now that no team in the league has anywhere near close to the required number needed for him and he is in the minors...so do i get Nashville's 3rd round pick in 2014 now? or do i have to wait to the end of the season?

Thanks and sorry to be a pain.

    Transferred to complete that deal.

  8. The Columbus Blue Jackets are calling David Savard (Not Waiver Eligible) to the big team.

    Ty Webb

    Columbus Blue Jackets

    General Manager

    Nanananana...

With Kaleta on the forward roster there is no room to recall Savard.

  9. Hey guys, loved coming home and checking in to read all the various teams three stars of the month. Totally cool.

Second best moment of the day, first place goes to my sister in law taking her top off to show my wife (her sister) and i her new tattoo...lol, what a great day.

(edit: and my comment about the tattoo you ask? "Their Fantastic....it...its fantastic, damn"

Pics or it didn't happen... ;)

  10. TRADE: The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a trade with the Los Angeles Kings.

    To CBJ:

    Patrick Wiercioch

    David Savard

OTT 2014 1st Round Draft Selection

LA 2015 2nd Round Draft Selection

FLA 2015 2nd Round Draft Selection

    To LA:

    Jonathan Ericsson

    Dmitri Jaskin

    Dmitri Orlov

    Anders Lee

FLA 2014 3rd Round Draft Selection

  11. A question..., when one trades for a player or players, one may assign the acquired players to the minors if they were in the minors on the original team, yeah?

    Yeah.

oh and the further question...can any player acquired by trade be assigned to either team, the big club or the minor one? Or would waivers have to be used?

If the player was on the active roster on their original club and require waivers to be sent down, they must clear waivers in order to be placed in the minors.
