  1. ANNOUNCEMENT: The Squeaky Wheel Sports Agency has announced it's intentions to close it's operations and focus on the internal aspects of the game. Squeak will be stepping down from the role of player agent and will be our designated "Rules Specialist" for when you have a question about the rules of the game and I am not around. I'd like to personally thank Squeak for all the time and work he's put in as an agent and thank him for taking on this new role.

If you have an offer with Squeak that is not yet resolved, it will be forwarded to another agent at his discretion shortly, if it has not been already.

  2. TRADE WARS! c2x vs Nail

    On the table:

To COL: Marcus Johansson, Joel Ward

To WSH: Paul Stastny, 2014 3rd Round Pick

This is a counter offer I can definitely live with. Johansson has loads of future potential, and Joel Ward only adds to the Avs depth, he's strong in both zones and can chip in offensively. No need to counter at all, I'm taking this one. First deal completed!

    On the table:

To CBJ: Evgeni Malkin, Jussi Jokinen, Brian Doumoulin

To PIT: Ryan Johansen, Nick Foligno, Ryan Murray, 2014 2nd Round Pick

If Malkin = Murray + Johansen + 2nd Round Pick, then I'd be more inclined to work around that framework rather than including Jokinen and Foligno in the mix. However, with Murray going out, that does hit the Jackets depth on the blueline. Nikitin and Goloubef look promising but aren't of the same caliber as Murray. In order to include him, the Jackets would need a strong defensive prospect as well, and I'm not sure Dumoulin has that kind of ceiling. If Pouliot or Despres was included, then I'd feel better about moving Murray. The pick going to the Penguins is upgraded to a 1st and a decent left wing prospect in Dalton Smith is added to compensate for adding one of those defensive prospects.

    Counter offer:

To CBJ: Evgeni Malkin, Derrick Pouliot

To PIT: Ryan Johansen, Ryan Murray, Dalton Smith, 2014 1st Round Pick.

  3. TRADE WARS! c2x vs Nail

    On the table:

To COL: Troy Brouwer, 3rd Round Draft Pick

    To WSH: Paul Stastny

Stastny desperately needs a change of scenery, that much is clear, and with the Avs depth up the middle, this one is intriguing. However, Troy Brouwer, while effective, is the kind of player the Avs already have with Steve Downie. What the Avs could use is a young winger with some offensive potential who can slide into the top 6 and grow with the Avs young core group. Marcus Johansson is a solid fit in this area. Stastny fills a void for the Capitals in giving them a strong 2nd line center option who can play at both ends of the ice, and he still puts up points, scoring 21 goals and 53 points in the last full season and 24 points in 40 games last season, a 50 point pace.

    Counter offer:

    To COL: Marcus Johansson

    To WSH: Paul Stastny

    On the table:

To EDM: Stephane Da Costa, Erik Condra, 4th Round Draft Pick

    To OTT: Ales Hemsky

An intriguing deal but more bottom 6 depth might not be what the Oilers need, as defence is their most pressing concern by far. Without going too much further into this one, I'm going to turn this one down, not because it doesn't merit further analysis, but because it doesn't quite mesh with what I'd like to do with the Oilers.

    Offer #1:

To CBJ: Evgeni Malkin, Jussi Jokinen, Simon Despres

To PIT: Ryan Johansen, Nick Foligno, Nikita Nikitin, Jack Skille, 1st Round Draft Selection

The Penguins are in the unique position of being able to deal a player like Malkin and still have a franchise centerman on the roster. Adding a strong young center like Johansen can help soften the blow of moving Malkin. The real draw here for the Pens is adding some much needed depth on the wings. Foligno is an excellent two way player who can kill penalties, win battles and chip in on offense. He'd be a great fit on any of the Pens top 3 lines and paired with Brandon Sutter the Penguins can be just as stingy on the defensive side as they can be dangerous on the attack. Jack Skille could flourish in the Penguins system, and Nikita Nikitin has already made an impact at the NHL level, upgrading the Penguins blue line instantly. Adding a 1st round pick adds more value. Columbus would add the franchise player and elite level center the team has never had, and Jussi Jokinen can fill the void left by Foligno. Despres is still a little rough around the edges, but has some potential, and moving Nikitin gives the Jackets the roster room for Ryan Murray to step in, so their defence should be able to cope. Moving a 1st is tough, but to get Malkin, it's not that tough.

  4. i remember when johnson returned to the bench and the whole penguins crew were very amused about this "fight" ..to bad that rick is made of glass..btw what happend to brent johnson...retired?

  5. folks sure value their canucks and ex canucks very much in this game. I offered a live volcano and 4 virginal offerings with it for a middle six canuck and was turned away, lol. I am afraid to know how much plunder and wine a Sedin would cost.

Next time try female virgins... might get a bit more traction... :P

  6. TRADE WARS! c2x vs Nail

    On the table:

To NSH: Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn, Matt Read

    To PHI: Shea Weber

It's VERY premature to say that Seth Jones can meet or exceed the level of a player of Shea Weber's caliber, especially right off the bat. That's a risk I don't think the Preds make at this point. Adding Brayden Schenn would be very enticing, but not at that price tag and with an expiring contract, albeit as an RFA, there's no long term cost certainty. I'm still not sold on Matt Read and he's a pending UFA after this season, so there is no cost certainty on him after this season either. He's a smaller forward who has produced a bit, but how much of that is a result of his talented linemates? He doesn't seem to take plays over on his own. Luke Schenn has been trending downwards for a few years now. Could he turn it around in defence-oriented Nashville? Maybe, but that's a gamble on the Preds part. If I'm moving a guy like Weber, I'm looking for secure and proven assets in return. No to this offer. Upgrading the forwards is a definite priority, but I'm not willing to hand the defence over to all the kids right off the bat and deal one of the best defencemen in the world to do it. There are other ways to bolster the forward core.

    Offer #1:

    To NJ: Mike Cammalleri

To CGY: Adam Henrique, 3rd Round Pick

After losing Kovalchuk to "retirement.. wink wink nudge nudge"... the Devils have some cap room to play with. A quick look at the depth chart and it's obvious the hole in the roster left by Kovy's departure can't be filled by overpaying Ryane Clowe. Adding Cammalleri would bring in a strong scoring winger to play with Zajac on the top line and balance the forward lines. The fact that the Devils picked up Andrei Loktionov, who has some offensive upside as well, may make Henrique, who is still unsigned as an RFA, expendable. On the Flames end, they get a player with some upside who can help them up the middle. If the Flames are going full rebuild as I believe they should, giving Sven Baertschi top 6 minutes is the way to go and this move frees up the roster spot for him. Adding Henrique to their center depth would be huge for a team who's struggled to find a true top end centerman since Joe Nieuwendyk left, and give them options should Sean Monahan not be ready. It creates a healthy competition at camp and with Matt Stajan's contract expiring, it gives them options going into next year as well. Henrique can step immediately into top 6 minutes, and has versatility as he can also play the wing.

    Offer #2:

To NYI: Alexander Edler, Jordan Schroeder, 2nd Round Pick

To VAN: Travis Hamonic, Casey Cizikas, 1st Round Pick

The Isles playoff push and taking the Pens to task in a tough playoff series was a sign to the rest of the league that they're not rebuilding anymore. Hamonic is a fantastic player, but Edler is an upgrade, and this is the kind of deal the Isles can make and immediately improve their lineup. We all know how good Edler can be if he can find some consistency, and maybe a change of pace to a market with more anonymity can help him with that. Jordan Schroeder gives them a very good center who can slot in with the club this year and as he grows into his role, could push for a top 6 position with the Isles sooner or later. The swapping of picks closes the gap as the Canucks are moving the best player in this deal. Edler has Norris Trophy potential if he can find that consistency in his game. The Canucks downgrade on the point in some respects, but upgrade on the point in others. Hamonic is a big body who plays a physical game. He's more suited to the Western Conference and the Canucks could definitely use more sandpaper. Hamonic is also a right handed shot, which the Canucks desperately need on the blue line, and can play a solid powerplay role, or be a strong shutdown guy. There will be growing pains, but that's to be expected. Edler is a cap casualty here. A good player, but in my opinion the most expendable of the top 4, and ironically also has the most expensive contract. That's not an issue for the Isles, who have the cap room to spare. The Canucks don't save a ton of cap space with this deal, but they do open up a few hundred grand and don't create a big hole in their roster doing it. Cizikas is an upgrade on our 3rd line center position and brings more of that sandpaper mentioned earlier. He's not afraid to play the body despite not being a big guy and has versatility as he's been known to play the left side as well, and can chip in on offense and kill penalties.

  7. Alright sounds good. So its ONE trade per team correct?

Also, I was hoping you didn't plan on finishing this whole thing tonight cause I wasn't :P. I was planning to head out for the night in an hour or so.

 definitely not. This will take a few weeks of back and forth I'm sure. Don't have to start with all 15 offers, feel free to lob out a couple to start
  8. Alright I'm set and ready to go! You wanna srart it off with the opening PM or shall I?

I'm ready to go, just looking over rosters etc. If you've got something already, fire away!

Just post in the thread but put it in spoilers. That way if people are interested they can see the process and our reasoning behind offering deals, accepting or rejecting deals etc. And if they don't care, they can scroll right on by.

  9. Cap compliant, and try to address actual team needs. For all intents and purposes, all NTCs are considered waived if needed and you can trade whoever you want. For example, just because the Pens probably wouldn't trade Crosby or Malkin doesn't mean you can't.

  10. TRADE WARS! c2x vs Nail

    Ill try the Eastern.

We are doing these trades with real life teams? Or CDCGML teams?

Real life rosters. So nobody complains when we trade their superstars  Also, let's put things in spoilers because some of these posts might get a little long and some people might not want to bother with it.

  11. the 1984 chris sherrick video game?

couldn't be. I am the only gamer nerd here that old....

Trade Wars = One GM takes Division 1 and 2 teams while the other GM takes Division 3 and 4 teams. The goal is to make trade offers back and forth with each other and complete one deal for each team, and our fellow GMs decide on who came out ahead overall.

  12. For random entertainment, a brief screenshot of a conversation I had with Jill the other day... in spoilers because of size.
