This is what I thought as well.  But at the initial faceoff Graves is on the ice with Messier on the left wing, not sure who the right winger is but I don't think it's Matteau as he didn't play on Messier's line and he was a left winger.  I believe the right winger is Glenn Anderson who is #36.  Graves was still on the ice at the time of the hit and he was in the offensive zone.  After the hit takes place I see Matteau on the ice, but it looks like the Rangers just completed a line change as Messier was also going to the bench after he hit Linden.  So I believe Matteau jumps onto the ice after a line change and after the hit.

So the guy in the offensive zone just before the hit was Graves, it wasn't Matteau.  You can see there is only one digit on the sleeve for the guy who hits Linden, it looks like a #9.  It's not #32 which is Matteau.  Matteau you can see after the hit on the ice as they completed a line change.  I don't remember Matteau ever playing with Messier and he was a left winger not a right winger.

I replayed the shift a few times and now I can see clearly it is #9 Graves that hits Linden.  He is the one that is forechecking in the offensive zone and he gets involved with Diduck.  Diduck comes out of the corner after the hit and Graves isn't there anymore, as he had just hit Linden and went off the ice for the line change.  Matteau is the one who replaces Graves and comes onto the ice after the hit...

Graves, the phantom menace. He hides in the shadows and then strikes big names when they least suspect.

  2. 1994, Stanley Cup Finals, Game 6, last minutes... people always talk about Mark Messier's role in a crippling cross check to Linden's side while he was down (which incidentally, despite dozens of cameras in the finals, has never been shown / televised.. ever. We just hear about it. Surely, there must be video of that incident captured somewhere.)

What draws my attention, and what is never seemingly mentioned, was that Linden was blindsided just earlier, which put him down on the ice in the first place. This video captures the moment at the two second mark, on the bottom left of the screen. With the puck far away, Linden looks to cross the blue line when he is completely blind sided by what appears to be direct head contact as a Ranger scrambles to get onside in what should probably be an automatic game misconduct to a Ranger. The video is so poor, it is hard to tell what Ranger did this, but it wasn't Messier. That's not letting Messier off the hook - I'd guess Linden's severe rib injuries came as a result of Messier cross-checking him when he was crawling to the bench. But what about the phantom menace Ranger who crushes Linden's head in a blind-side hit far away from the play? How does he got off without anyone ever calling for his head throughout the years?

And as fans, should we demand through some sort of campaign that CBC release its unshown footage from their different camera angles that would capture these evil events rather than have them continue this false narrative that Mark Messier is one of the greatest leaders of all time?

He could also get hurt,  have a crappy season and barely get a raise... Risk/reward either way.

Exactly. Big stakes. Could you imagine if you were him, waited a year, and got a career-ending injury before the season ends? He would have missed out on so many millions. There are enough shady guys in the division, like Kadri, who make that possibility a reality. Hopefully he makes the safe play and locks himself in long term this summer.

Wait, but wasn’t it because Palpatine used the dark side of force to drain Padme’s life energy into Vader? That makes more sense to me than a healthy Murray now going on LTIR right when the Leafs needed to do something immediate to get partially cap compliant.

  5. How about also investing in having someone from one of the local three First Nations give a live welcoming / territory recognition as well, instead of cycling through those same videos at the start of each game. Those videos become the opposite of what they’re intended to be because they just cause people to tune out, like when an airplane steward starts showing you how to put on a seatbelt. Keep it live and fresh. You wouldn’t put our national anthem singer on video repeat all season.

Here are the 5 most memorable moments from Congress’ UFO hearing

Former military officials made a series of mystifying claims about unidentified aerial phenomena under oath at Wednesday's congressional hearing.

I watched this live on CNN this morning, and it’s really incredible how mainstream this is becoming, and quite frankly a bit concerning, hearing from seemingly reputable people about govt cover up.

Luongo chose to retire rather than train to get into game shape over the summer.  That's your answer. This is no different than Pearson and Poolman being on LTIR for Vancouver

Matt Murray was ready to be inserted into the Leafs lineup in post season. They just kept him out because of how bad he sucks. Poolman and Pearson are on legit LTIR.

  8. I think I read somewhere that Boeser has the longest running tenure with the team of all current players. That’s weird. In all honesty, I’m still hoping we find a way to trade the guy. Sure, this could be his big breakout season, but I’ve hoped that the past several years. I get he’s had life crises and injuries, but, as perhaps as rude as this sounds, it always seems to be positioning Brock as the victim. Victim of life’s various circumstances. I would have liked to see more compete. More talk from him about not content with the level of compete on this team. More talk about a desire to win the cup. Is he the guy that will do whatever it takes in the post season? I know Petey will. I know Miller will. Even Kuzmenko, yes. Boeser? I’m not sold at all. He needs to be a on a top 6 to be effective. I’m just not so sure it should be our top 6.

Four Canadian teams winning the cup within a six year timeframe? I guess AI still has a long ways to go.

Toss up for me between Makar and Pettersson. I have a hunch Petey still has significant untapped potential.

And Elias, could you spend less time posting here and more time signing a long term team-friendly deal? 8x10m is more than anyone could ever want or need, right?

8x10M would be perfect. Let’s make that happen.

He said all his brothers were tougher than he was.

I met one at Carlo's & Bud's, and he was shorter than Dave but about 1.5 times as wide.

Shook the hand of Marty Gelinas there that night.

All night I invited people to shake the hand that shook the hand, and many did.

Gelinas was another very highly-skilled player that took a Marchand-pile of abuse, especially in front of the net.

Really played his heart out for us.

Sweet. Yeah, Gelinas (aka jellya$$) was a stud. A 90s version of Burrows.
