  1. It was just 2 defensive breakdowns by the entire team, Owen Sound basically walked in an scored back to

back. Had some good chances, and a great goal off a feed from Domi, but pretty average defensively. The

    goals were just bad timing

  2. However, Kesler is an ideal 3rd line center. In that if you have top-6 centers better than Kesler, then you're a true contender.

I thought it was interesting when the Canucks traded Schneider for the ability to draft a shutdown-type center. I mean that's nice and all, but we're going to need some scoring up the middle too when Hank and Kesler are done as Canucks. What's additionally interesting is that the Canucks have Horvat and Gaunce in the system, and then they traded for Matthias. Again, fine, but none of these guys are going to be elite scorers in the NHL.

I hope the plan is to acquire an elite scorer via the stacked 2015 draft. Either by losing honour for Connor or whatever. If not, then we'll need a stud defenseman. Somebody has to be a standout in the post-Sedin era. You don't win without standouts.

In the meantime it's still good to have a decent blue-chipper like Bo, but some people here should definitely tone down the 'saviour' expectations that may be put on him.

He won't be a saviour, but he'll be a good start. I'd love to see him become a young leader like Landeskog did.

i keep saying it, and even though its crazy.. 2015 should be about free agency for us. Booth is gone.. Ryan and Kane would be nice targets :emot-parrot:

  3. And don't get me wrong, if we find a way to get those wingers (Shinkaruk develops, Jensen finds his stride as a goal scorer, we pick up Evander Kane in a trade, etc.) then he could be a very steady presence on a team's 1st line. We had that with the WCE and Morrison. Linden as our 1st line center and Bure on the wing comes to mind as well.

As noted in Legend Killer's post, he has so many good qualities that indicate NHL quality that I'm ok with his projected ceiling. If he achieves that, or even more, I'll be very happy to wish Schneider all the best in New Jersey or wherever he is on his next deal.

maybe vancouver will get him back lmao
  4. Horvat will make the team full time only because another season of the OHL won't help his development.

he honestly seems bored. motivated by memorial cup.

goal was another nice one.. obviously

  5. The difference is Calgary could give him top 6 minutes, Horvat will start on our third line most likely unless we have a huge change of heart and core in the off season. Any player breaking in to the league on a top 6 role will look good for a rookie, or at least should

exactly what i'm thinking they should do. at least give him third line minutes, and work him into a pp unit. he could even play wing
  6. Horvat needs another T/C and some AHL time before mking the Canucks. I don't think he'll be NHL ready in sept but another year in JR wont do much for his development either. Its gonna be interesting to see what mgmnt does with him

If Monahan can make the team in his first year, there's no reason why Horvat can't in his second. There's nothing left for him in the OHL, so that's pointless. He's physically ready, and this team will need youth

  7. You seem to really like the Rupert brothers. Do you have any NHLers you can compare them to? Ontario boy doesn't want to sign with the Leafs (yet?). I'm assuming he has at least got a contract offer from the Leafs so it makes you wonder...

i don't think the leafs offered him a contract, just invited him and his brother to training camp. i'd honestly compare him to brad marchand, with a bit of an edge. both brothers play similar
  8. no chance its an equipment issue lk?

no, he took an awkward hit. knee injury.. i don't think it's serious. precautionary.

also, came to my attention that ryan rupert hasn't been signed by the leafs yet.. could re-enter the draft.. worth looking at both brothers

  9. I know this is a stretch, but i always thought Mark Hunter would be a great gm in the nhl. He's done wonders in constantly keeping london a contender, not an easy task in junior hockey
