He won't be a saviour, but he'll be a good start. I'd love to see him become a young leader like Landeskog did. However, Kesler is an ideal 3rd line center. In that if you have top-6 centers better than Kesler, then you're a true contender.
I thought it was interesting when the Canucks traded Schneider for the ability to draft a shutdown-type center. I mean that's nice and all, but we're going to need some scoring up the middle too when Hank and Kesler are done as Canucks. What's additionally interesting is that the Canucks have Horvat and Gaunce in the system, and then they traded for Matthias. Again, fine, but none of these guys are going to be elite scorers in the NHL.
I hope the plan is to acquire an elite scorer via the stacked 2015 draft. Either by losing honour for Connor or whatever. If not, then we'll need a stud defenseman. Somebody has to be a standout in the post-Sedin era. You don't win without standouts.
In the meantime it's still good to have a decent blue-chipper like Bo, but some people here should definitely tone down the 'saviour' expectations that may be put on him.
i keep saying it, and even though its crazy.. 2015 should be about free agency for us. Booth is gone.. Ryan and Kane would be nice targets

Would love to have Dal Colle, Reinhart or Bennett. But, if Ekblad is there, take him. He was NHL ready last year..
-
maybe vancouver will get him back lmaoAnd don't get me wrong, if we find a way to get those wingers (Shinkaruk develops, Jensen finds his stride as a goal scorer, we pick up Evander Kane in a trade, etc.) then he could be a very steady presence on a team's 1st line. We had that with the WCE and Morrison. Linden as our 1st line center and Bure on the wing comes to mind as well.
As noted in Legend Killer's post, he has so many good qualities that indicate NHL quality that I'm ok with his projected ceiling. If he achieves that, or even more, I'll be very happy to wish Schneider all the best in New Jersey or wherever he is on his next deal.

i read that blog and it was obvious that he's never seen a single gamelol, canucks army...

If you ask fans of other teams, Bo is THE guy that they wanted on their team. Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto and San Jose were very high on him. Everybody said he was the safest pick in the draft outside of the top 4. His ceiling might not have been as high, but how many players with high ceilings for potential never reach them? There's a reason why all those teams wanted him, they know what he is capable of, but its the intangibles he possesses that will force him to be even better than he projects. What he's gonna bring to the canucks is leadership, on and off the ice. I just came from an autograph signing, and i got him to sign both my Knights and Canucks jersey, but there were many people who were getting him to sign Canucks stuff, because everybody here gets the feeling he won't be back. Everybody around London knows how special he is as a player, and is mature beyond his years. In some cases, the maturity is what slows down development, much like Kadri in Toronto, and Seguin in Boston. Just.. trust me. We have our future captain.Knuckleheads in the army, air force has the menza's...
Patrice Bergeron wasn't highly thought of right out of the draft, now he is one of the best and a possible Seilke this year.
That is what Bo will be in a year or two.
There I said it.
I know this is all irrelevant, but character players with skill will do what it takes to win. Every time. He had a line of almost 400 people to get his autograph, and it was growing. My son wanted a pic with him, but the PR guy said no pics cause the line was too long, but he said to come get him after they were done.. and he waited.
can't stress enough, but it's not often that a player is "beloved" by their fans, especially in junior. Someone asked him about the Luongo trade, and he just said he's glad to be part of the future. Honoured that they gave up what they did to pick him. I made sure he knew who "Stork" was.

Get rid of Gillis first. But, Kesler should not be moved unless its for a deal that blows them away
-
probably just that period. shots were 34-29 for londonAm I reading this right?
4 minutes into the 3rd and a TOTAL of 15 shots in the game.
12 by London, 3 by Owen Sound.
-
he honestly seems bored. motivated by memorial cup.Horvat will make the team full time only because another season of the OHL won't help his development.
goal was another nice one.. obviously
-
Bo is back in the lineup, looks like it wasn't serious.
-
exactly what i'm thinking they should do. at least give him third line minutes, and work him into a pp unit. he could even play wingThe difference is Calgary could give him top 6 minutes, Horvat will start on our third line most likely unless we have a huge change of heart and core in the off season. Any player breaking in to the league on a top 6 role will look good for a rookie, or at least should
-
dal colle is best case scenario outside ekblad and reinhart, imo. pure skillDal Colle if possible but I would be happy with Perlini or Ehlers.
-
i think if torts is still here, he'll make sure horvat has a spot. he wanted him this year
-
If Monahan can make the team in his first year, there's no reason why Horvat can't in his second. There's nothing left for him in the OHL, so that's pointless. He's physically ready, and this team will need youthHorvat needs another T/C and some AHL time before mking the Canucks. I don't think he'll be NHL ready in sept but another year in JR wont do much for his development either. Its gonna be interesting to see what mgmnt does with him

not with the high pick we'll have.A good player (IMO) that Gillis should go for, is Roland Mckeown.
An offensive minded defenseman!
I'm hoping for either Dal Colle or Ritchie.

Bo isn't in the lineup tonight, he's being considered day to day. I don't think he made the trip to Kitchener today, cause i saw him at the arena when i picked up this..
they look .. good together. getting them signed on monday hopefully.

i don't think the leafs offered him a contract, just invited him and his brother to training camp. i'd honestly compare him to brad marchand, with a bit of an edge. both brothers play similarYou seem to really like the Rupert brothers. Do you have any NHLers you can compare them to? Ontario boy doesn't want to sign with the Leafs (yet?). I'm assuming he has at least got a contract offer from the Leafs so it makes you wonder...
-
no, he took an awkward hit. knee injury.. i don't think it's serious. precautionary.no chance its an equipment issue lk?
also, came to my attention that ryan rupert hasn't been signed by the leafs yet.. could re-enter the draft.. worth looking at both brothers
-
Horvat went to the dressing room with an apparent leg injury. Tried to come back, created 2 chances, and went back to the dressing room. Didn't seem too serious. #Ox.

I know this is a stretch, but i always thought Mark Hunter would be a great gm in the nhl. He's done wonders in constantly keeping london a contender, not an easy task in junior hockey
-
i wanna punch gillis in the face
-
which is why those teams need to be the ones who overpay for him. unless gillis gets blown away with an offer like b.schenn, laughton and a 1st.. i'd waitThe whole point is he could put a team over the top with a cap friendly contract for 2 more years. His value shouldn't be higher in a less critical time.
-
it should be done in the off season. that deal from pittsburgh isn't enough, in my opinion. Sutter does nothing for me.. philly has more to offerand nothing is lost. I'm all for moving kes before the deadline, but it can be done in the off seaosn as well
-
Kesler is a much bigger piece.Umberger is a great piece. He isn't just a throw in. We would have to add Hansen, I suspect.

It was just 2 defensive breakdowns by the entire team, Owen Sound basically walked in an scored back to
back. Had some good chances, and a great goal off a feed from Domi, but pretty average defensively. The
goals were just bad timing
