Was there not something in the early reports about an adult associated with the team reportedly arranging for the boys to have alcohol and sex in a hotel room?
Has there been any follow up on these reports? Adults are for sure part of the problems youth experience on the road, imo.

You only change your gaunch once or twice a year?
Here's some tips Gent:

Still do not like that the whole league is prevented from wearing #99. Just PR BS, imo.
The Whiner didn't play for us, so a Canuck should be able to wear #99.
Still think only the # and the Name should be retired together and only by the team(s) that wish to do so.
Keep your nose out of it NHL.

And I must say I totally agree with how things are framed. If it's a constant negative label, it can stick.
Just because these guys says it's so doesn't make it so. More likely, not.
It is driven by clicks/likes/views....controversial gets more hits. These guys put their stuff out there to get attention more so than deliver balanced factual takes.
Plus, they troll the forums for ideas and discussion points.
I still maintain that any 'professional journalists' (ha ha) that are on CDC should be outed and made to account for trolling behaviour and credit CDC when they use stuff from here.
There is just too much crap sprinkled with factual content to conclude that these are actual fans posting.
[PJs: anybody that is earning from their blog, podcast, (I don't know the diff, lol), talk shows, sports events et cetera.)

I prefer Montreal's system, where the Player's Name with His Number (the jersey) is retired but the number can still be used, e.g. Rocket Richard.
Retiring the number is stupid imo, if Montreal had been doing it all along, they'd have no numbers left! lol.

Friedman looks like he's suckin' on a big rig there..
At least though, he looks like a reporter there, unlike the clown getup he's sporting these days.
His attempts to be like Bieksa are so cringe-worthy.

I think the narrative was that he wouldn't learn that much playing a powerforward game pushing around 16 year olds. *edit I forgot about the Hitmen handling him improperly too* I never liked the pick since I was hoping for Ehlers and he looked unmotivated when I saw him play twice against the Ice Caps. I had my fair share of brown bags thrown at me when people defended him "put him on with the Sedins, his value is in the playoffs, powerforwards take longer to develop"
I feel optics definitely played a part. McCann played great during the preseason and deserved staying up for 10-20 games. But how do you send down a player drafted 6th before the player drafted 24th in the same draft?
By earning the respect of the hockey world with sound management making the tough decisions correctly.
Once a player is drafted, management can ignore draft position, and insist on, "What have you done for us today?"
Jake would have received his comeuppance in a much more timely fashion if he was handled properly.

If Detroit terminates Zadina’s contract then 100% we should be all over that. Similar to Kravtsov, we take on a young player who didn’t work out with another team and try and reclaim him.
Kravtsov may not have worked out so well right now, but Zadina might be a different story. Worth a shot. Who thought Jared McCann would ever be a 40 goal scorer?
I did. When we drafted him.

I know that in some ways this is a necessary evil of the sports news, especially in a market like Vancouver with no play offs.
Shit season for the media fisherman this year, in a boom or bust economy where the playoffs is so beneficial to the secondary media and needed promoters of the sports and entertainment industry in Vancouver.
I get the limits of the market, but it is really a rebranded Crypt Keeper style of ‘journalism’ with more hand wringing and less wit and venom.
Gallagher could but on a clinic and played the Heel better than most.
But save the fretting and anxiety worded stuff.
Things are getting harder out there, we have a right wing agenda that uses the same tactics and rhetoric in their political campaigns and adds with some Fox News level broadcasting styles know fully found on CTV news and others.
the heart bear style music at intros and using words like massive, exteme and one sided framing to only look at the worst possible outcome and make it appear like it is already happening.
When this year in BC and Canada and the world and legit fears that Putin may just blow up the largest Nuclear Power Station in Europe as hissing fit of spoiled child turned megalomaniac, I would prefer a more realistic and less hyperbolic and hysterical approach to non serous and life threatening situations.
Absolutely right on OP and this follow up.
My response to this type of journalism is to never follow it.
"The Truth" as vetted by our own CDC is much more valid than any of the 'legitimate' media.
If you ever have been personally involved in any newsworthy activity and then read the way CBC, Global, Globe, and all the American 'news' outlets, you begin to understand that it is all extremely massaged by the powers that be.
Chomsky documented the problem but the media just entrenched and got paid for it.

Interesting to see who is more interested in being right on a forum than actually exploring ways that might improve the team.
Note that nobody gives a Marchand's Ass whether you have been 'right' or that you 'told us so' except you.
I like new management's approach and results to date and am looking forward to the rest of the summer, camp, etc.

It may well be difficult for a fit adult male to leave Russia at this time.
It is possible that bringing his family may also be a factor for patience and tact.
I hope he is working it out with all involved and I really appreciate their tight lips.
Maybe we bought out OEL to make room for Nikita, what do you gurus think?

Just last year off the top of my head. Bear, Poolman, Dermott, Schenn, OEL, Myers, Hughes, Hirose, Brisbois, Juulsen, McWard, Hamonic, Bowey, Burroughs, Stillman, Wolanin, and Hronek. Actually, I looked.
Been saying it for years. We need 8 NHL regulars and 8 AHL defencemen chafing at the bit to get in the lineup.
These posts which plunk a new guy into a game-day roster and figure we're set do not seem to consider historical needs of championship teams.

I'm not trying to be a downer about Soucy, just trying to figure out what it is that has people so positive about that kind of contract for a guy who was playing less than Poolman was (in WPG), when that deal was so frowned upon.
I guess he's good on the PK?
I think I like Cole on a 1 year deal more, but if we bring Soucy in at that number I hope its 2 years.
I wish we wouldn't waste cash, cap room, roster space, opportunities for the yutes, et cetera, on too-expensive Free Agents.
Just exercise some patience please Nux Mngt.

There seems to be something cryptic about this message from Diamond, who is usually a little more open:
Dhaliwal to Diamond about Tryamkin:
Let go!! Give us the goods. Is he signing? Update. Let's go!!
Diamond: We need to be suspenseful on July 1st
To misquote Mike Tyson: It's "suspenseful".
I'm very suspenseful today, and yer all welcome to be too.

He seems like to no brainer move to me. No risk, low cost. If he pans out Schenn 2.0 but younger and bigger. Could end up carrying a 3rd pairing for years which is what you need. D(and C) depth is super important on a playoff team.
Yeah, I've always pulled for Cal Foote, from hoping without a chance at his draft, and then as his career progressed.
This is also exactly the "look for a player drafted high that teams are not that high on right now, that could benefit from a new chance, etc."
Heads Up Comparison: Tryamkin or Foote? And why not both?
