  1. yeah. the tax thing is good, but I think most Canadians would like to avoid living in the states if possible. and I'd be shocked if Florida got anywhere near a cup. at best they could become an almost has been like SJ, but SJ is a much better and deeper organization - at least it was. I think he's a character guy and recognizes a lack of character for how Florida treated him and operates its business.
  2. I think Guddy wants to be here - not sure why he'd go back to a team that gave up on him.
  3. Willie made 3.5 for the longest time, then got a sweetheart 4.25 from the analyktic folks in Florida. I'd be happy locking Guddy long at 4.25. Montreal gave old-man Alzner 4.6 but I wouldn't be surprised if Bergevin got fired soon. Nashville managed to give Ekholm only 3.75 but Poille is a bit of a wizard. Hjalmarsson get 4.1 - which seems a good contract even for Phoenix. Larsson in Edmonton gets 4.1. Those all seem good benchmarks for young Willie.
  4. It's even better when you compare our current D to the mistake prone, slap-stick antics of the artists formerly known as Sbisa, Larsen, and Weber.
  5. Nicely done. Cam Neely really out did himself there.
  6. I'm looking forward to watching him when Kelowna comes to town against the Royals. Want to check out this Glass kid as well to see what all the hype was about.
  7. That was my favorite moment in the draft. If Lind pans out like he's projecting in the dub then it'll be a legendary quote to keep in the vaults.
  8. I agree. My impression of Jake early on was that he could easily out muscle and out pace players to the net, mostly in a straight line with little hockey IQ needed. This concerned me, as that type of game doesn't play well against bigger, stronger, and faster players. It's what has never really made me excited about Stukel, who seems to play in a similar fashion but lacks Jake's high end speed and size. The last year has been big for Jake, as he seems to be developing a hockey IQ. He is getting to spots now and supporting better - added with his top-shelf speed and size - we could be in for a treat.
  9. Yep. That's where all the weight is. Biggest mistake I see young players make is hitting the bench and curls too hard when they should be squatting, lunging, jumping, etc..
  10. It feels like the dark days are slowly slipping away. Nice knowing that guys like Boucher, Chaput, and Megna aren't penciled as regulars. Benning is a beauty!
  11. From what I've seen the best hockey players have 'weight' in the lower half. I remember twenty years ago seeing Bure and Mogilny around UBC, and their glutes and quads were massive. Elias will start to get 'old man' upper body strength - and I have no doubt that he keep training the muscles that actually matter when skating and fending off defenders. It's all in the legs and buttocks. - see Crosby for a great modern day example.
  12. Phillips was in a league of his own on Friday. Short side goal PP was money. The kid might actually make the pros - which is great to see even though it's a Calgary prospect.
  13. Case in point see Austin of Nashville - 1st round pick 2010 - now demolishing in the playoffs.
  14. Wow! He's half the man he used to be. Is that even the same guy!!!
  15. Are the Canucks about to get Jimmy Vesey'd???
  16. Is he hurt or just scratched for the game tonight against Tampa?
  17. This will be the key to the Sedins seeing a cup in vancouver. We almost had it with the WCE but Bertuzzi decided to sucker punch some guy in the back of the head. The window is closing but we could if full circle if some of the young fellas emerge as a first line presence. Otherwise it's pretty awesome that this thread is almost 8 years old.
  18. Good god. Did they just re-draft Patrick White? Maybe the plan is to trade him in the future for Ehrhoff 2.0.
  19. Weber does not equal Rome - lucky for Bennett....
  20. Great that we have a farm team to develop. Looking forward to a slow cook......
  21. It seemed like he was just getting even for something. Still undisciplined. Kennins was undisciplined as well. I can see him getting at least 3 games for the contact. Not sure still why bieksa got tossed. Must have told Gaustad to pick up his soother or something.
  22. If 2014 is like 2012, then who cares where we pick. Some decent returns at all positions in that first round. 2. Murray 3. Gachehyuk 4. Reinhart 5. Reilly 6. Lindholm 8. POULLIOT 9. Trouba..... then a whole lot more. wait a minute, this draft is nothing like 2012 - look at all those wicked d-men!....... And I'd join the Yukipoof bust group; at least according to my Oiler friend fans.
  23. It is a silly rumour. It's not like Stamkos or Toews are available at 1st. It's another prospect who has the potential of becoming another Brendl or Daigle.
