    Tell me more.

I never had in my consideration us trading Bo to a team that wouldn’t even make the playoffs. Yet somehow that’s entirely possible.

We knew Bo’s camp didn’t like our latest offer and he wanted to test the market. And he’s earned that right. But if he ended up in say Boston I could see him resigning and being a core piece there for years without ever getting to free agency. Now we secured some assets and have swung the pendulum more likely in the direction of Bo becoming a UFA. Unless the islanders tear it up over the rest of the season which certainly could still happen.

  2. This deal is actually brilliant the more I think about it. All the smoke of Bo going to a contender which would invariably lead to him re-signing with them before Free Agency and he gets shipped to a team that might not even make the playoffs. That's a colossal price for the Islanders to pay for a flat rental. Take your run at him in the offseason with everybody else and at least you got assets in case he does walk.

I don't think I have to say it, but we've just traded the best trading chip we've had in arguably decades for, yet again, two forwards and a pick - no defencemen. This management seem to not care at all about fixing the holes on this D and it is the reason we're bombing out of the playoffs.

Value-wise, we get a mid-round first which is probably the key here (and difference compared to other teams' packages I'm assuming), Raty who's a big, strong but relatively unproven center (0.5 PPG in the AHL as a 20 year old), and a pretty average 25 year old winger in Beauvillier who's on a 4.1M cap hit for two years (must have been almost a cap dump by NYI, masked as a hockey trade).

In my books Allvin got fleeced here, this is basically Raty + 1st + bit of a cap dump (almost like sending something between Garland and Pearson the other way) for a 60 goal scoring top center.

My judgement is made up about this management, they've failed us. They may be able to turn around and flip Boeser or Garland for a defenceman but I just don't see it happening.

To be fair, it's for 30 games of a 60 goal scoring center. I'd be a lot more scared about him not reaching free agency if he was going to a contender but he's gone to a bubble team.

A package for Bedard probably starts with Pettersson, Podz and a few 1st rounders. Even then, might not be enough.

Still worth it. Our probably top 10 first this year + first from Bo trade + future year first with anyone other than Demko, Petey or Hughes for a player who has stated many times he wants to play for us. Biggest draft for the Canucks since 1999.

Guys, I think we have this all figured out

canucks are gonna trade horvat for wright then Bedard is going to fall into our laps then we’ll have a 3 headed monster up front with pettersson, wright and Bedard

I think we can all take the day off tomorrow…

You trade Horvat to a contender for a first rounder and just resign him as a free agent using that first as more ammo for the package to go after 1OA when we don’t win the lottery.
