That’s horrifying

I kind of get this, but at this point Hamonic just needs to play himself into shape... and a heady kid like Juolevi will benefit from a day off to process and reflect. Not ideal but he’ll likely be back in if Edler is down anyways.

It’s tough to tell but the guy got zero training camp and hadn’t played in like 10 months or something since he skipped the playoffs. He’s rusty for sure.

At least I have Gally on my fantasy team. Marky too actually (winning!).

Yeah that was surprising to read about. Already so hard for hockey players to keep weight during the season.

Gaudette’s slick. We could really use a breakout year from him.

The losses are frustrating enough without our masochistic Twitter fans getting off on us stumbling out of the block.

It’s easy to blame the crappy contracts but your best players still need to win the game whether they’re being paid on ELCs or paid like all stars... meaning, if Loui, Beagle and Sutter were off the books we’d still be 1-3 based on how the top line and special teams have played.

That’s exactly it... and on the bright side if the special teams and top line even just get to “average” we’ll take a pretty big step forward.

Maybe JB is slipping sedatives into Petey’s water bottle to keep his AAV down this offseason

Very frustrating / disappointing. I’ve defended this team a lot when they were undermanned but there’s no reason for this start to the season. Need to figure it out quick in a short season where every game is against a divisional opponent.

That made me happy.

Yeah.. that penalty wasn’t smart but if you’re going to take one there giving Tkachuk the butt end is the way to go.

Considering we’ve been shut out and Miller and Petey haven’t scored all season... plus we haven’t scored a PP goal yet... we’ve scored a decent amount.

I usually don’t rag on the coaches but... Juolevi is +1 in this game and we aren’t coming back just let him play a bit Baumgartner you hack.

It’s easy to over diagnose what’s going on right now... likely just what people predicted before the season: without elite goaltending we’re getting exposed. First period here and vs Edmonton we had our chances offensively (last game was a bit of a dud). We came out flying this game but only managed 1 vs Marky. He’s obviously fired up to play us. Going to have to recommit to playing team D like we did into he playoffs. Team has too much talent not to score and the PP will figure it out eventually.

Wow. Just catastrophically undisciplined and unfocused. Came out the right way but Marky is really frustrating them. Yikes.

Hockey is such a funny sport. These teams played two days ago but look like completely different teams these past 5 min. Big reason why I can’t stand how the analytics kids roll their eyes at leadership / team chemistry / veteran influence aspect of the game. So much of success is mental / psychological.

I think that’s by far the fan consensus to ride our Loui but I think it’ll be tempting to move on. For me it really depends on what’s available. Sutter, Roussel and Ferland are classic Canuck luck. Sutter was signed in a different world... the team was a bottom feeder and we were looking for a gritty, responsible matchup C to free up Bo, he was a 15+ goal guy who could soak up tough assignments. Then his groin started to go. He’s still alright when healthy but never took that next step. Roussel was brought in to replace Dorsett (remember how awesome he looked before he had to retire? What a shame) and looked awesome too until he wrecked his knee. Now he looks a shadow of his former self (and isn’t getting much of a chance to prove otherwise.) Ferland is similar - but was high risk high reward - would have looked awesome if he was healthy and a lot of people loved the signing... but quite typically we got the worst possible result. I liked the idea of all of these guys but at various levels they sure haven’t lived up to expectations. Sutter has been okay, the other two are flop despite in their primes being exactly what this team needs more of.

Yeah for sure. Jakes making 2.5 mil and coming off a career highs across the board. He’s super streaky. The TEAM is streaky. Could very well stay on that upswing. Those guys have been whinging about the cap situation for 5 years and this is the first (and likely only) year it’s really going to cost us a strong player. It’s their one chance to do a little victory lap for the lifetime’s worth of complaining so they’re going to get their moneys worth. Like... they’re not technically wrong... but for the actual impact I think they’ve made their point and then some. Time to move on. (They won’t.)

Yeah we could definitely use a little more Juolevi. It’s a long ways away but if we have our full complement of picks this year and have some bigger bottom 6 salaries coming off the books I can see the temptation to tie a protected 2022 first to float Loui out of town as well to go shopping for a middle 6 upgrade. Just a random prediction.

Yeah, still a lot of time for that narrative to change. We’re going to get Toffoli’d by the Twitter guys after every loss though.

On the bright side we do have our 1st and all of our picks this year I still expect us to turn it around but it’s kinda nice to know we’ll have em. I can also see us burning some 2022 picks to really clean house in the bottom 6 and revamp the middle of our roster.
