I don’t know what your issue is. I’m not “crapping all over him”. I admit he is our most skilled guy. I just said he is not a leader. Get a grip over yourself

    I disagree.
    He wants to win.
Yeah, he is calling out management, but they deserve it.
He has delivered and they haven’t.
He wants to see his team following his example and management giving him what he needs to be successful.
As a fan, does it make me comfortable to hear?  Absolutely not.
    BUT

He is showing passion to win.
He has proven he will uphold his end of the bargain.
I think it’s fair for him to want to be be satisfied with what he see before committing 8 years to this proven loser of a franchise.

People need to consider that Aquilini just might not be one of the developers in the back pockets of our politicians.

We all know how long it takes for anything to get developed in Vancouver. Unless of course you know the right people…

My guess is there will be a long back and forth of who pays for what if it ever gets decided. We’re probably 10 years from getting this team a practice facility.

My wife owns an architecture firm that does a lot of work with them.
    Your statement is incorrect.

Don’t these cultures kiss each other on the lips a lot, even the men? Maybe what’s gross to us is kind of normal there?
They won the big cup. They should be excited and happy. Kiss away!

    This is hilarious.
You always try to be an extreme liberal who white knights all the causes, then the true Alf come out.
    Good stuff Alf.  Lol!

Why would he change his number?

    Isn’t it obvious?
    34 is 33 +1

    it is also

    22 + 12

That is both Sedin’s, Smyle AND Lou.
It is the ultimate Canucks captain number.
    It’s also 16 + 18.  18 is almost 19.
So it’s basically Linden plus Naslund.

Yeah, he was billed as a burner with great defence, and untapped offence. Excited to see him at full speed this season, and curious which line he finds a home on…

I feel he is very Jannik Hansen’ish.
    Amazing top speed and motor.
Great defensively and on the forecheck and back check he is awesome.
Not the greatest hands, but I’d put with great players, he can keep his stick on the ice and get to good areas of the ice.

My guess would be to play him back with Petey and Kuz.
He is too fast to play with Boeser or Miller, and would prob be a waste on a 3-4 line

And quite possibly,  as exciting to watch as Bure was.

Bure was one of the most explosive and exciting players to play the game.
A true hall of fame talent.

Let’s not compare Kuz to one of the greatest ever.   Hahahah

  7. Juulsen- AHL

    Mcward- AHL

    Johansson- AHL

    Woo- AHL

Irwin- AHL, but will make the team because we signed him as a FA

    Rathbone- AHL

    Briesboise- AHL

    Wolanen- AHL

    Hirose- Fringe NHL

All of these guys are AHL level dmen, and I’ll be super bummed if any make the team full time.
It just shows how far away our team is from being a legit playoff team.

We need 2 more legit top 4 dmen added to the team.

Also...he seems to have taken down the post on Instagram? Maybe a lawyer has weighed in.

I couldn't figure out the pictures....one with bloody teeth but the front tooth on the left is intact/fine. Next picture is nice (fixed?) teeth but that one is now chipped??

Never heard of him but it looks like he boxes. Likely two tough guys beaking off at each other in a bar and it escalates, seen that before.

The chipped teeth are from being punched in his dumb face.
The bloody mess picture is during surgery to try to gain sympathy.

They're fit but that article says some of the 'fittest in the world'...

This one puts them in 40th spot.

However, I dont totally agree with the list and you point out a big thing...the risk of death is always very close.

I’m good friends with a professional NHRA Promods racer, and he is no star athlete.
He is a world record holder though….
I have spent a ton of time around racers from every type.

They are dudes.  That’s about it.
You can’t be a big fat guy, but a ton of these guys are pretty damn normal

Punching anyone, for what they say, is wrong.

Punching anyone, for what they do, is sometimes ok.

    Nah.

I recall standing in line to get into the Blarney Stone 18 years ago (lol).
There was a black bouncer, and the guy in front of us aggressively dropped the N Bomb on him.
Bouncer flattened his nose, and we all cheered.
It was totally justified, and I guarantee you that goof never said that word like that again.

I can think of a hundred situations where someone clearly deserves a punch in the mouth for what they are saying.

  11. Bure 5 Kesler 3 Burrows 1. 9

    Hughes 5 Bieksa 1. 6

    Miller 2

The speed and tenacity of the first line makes me smile.
Hughes and Bieksa could go a couple different ways, but if KB could just play a solid stay at home/don’t mess around role, then Hughes could be a straight up free wheeling hotdogger.
That would be a wild fast lineup.
Miller better be on his game.  Hahahah

  12. Our last couple DJs have been horrible.

Our skate out songs have been a joke.
I want to run and hide?   How Canucks.

The Canucks franchise are just totally clueless when it comes to keeping up with the beat of the fans.

They will mess it up regardless and I fully expect our next goal song to be something stupid like Mambo #5 and our next skate out song to be Why Can’t We Be Friends?

Teams that were playoff teams didn’t have the cap space and we didn’t want to retain. That’s why a deal didn’t get done.

Columbus has the cap and would like to add more scoring.

He would be valuable to them.

It wasn’t the last couple months.
He has been in trade talks for a couple seasons now.

Sorry dude, but it is what it is.
Boeser has zero value, and you severely undervalued the kid.

If you think of a trade proposal for your team, and you think ‘yeah I’d make that trade for sure’.  Just know the other team most likely wouldn’t.

  14. 2 hours ago, DeNiro said:

Draft position doesn’t mean anything 2 years on. That’s like saying Podkolzin has a ton of value because he was a 10th overall 4 years ago.

11 points in 64 games last season. Nothing is boosting his value much right now. Maybe they’d prefer a prospect or young player like Hoglander but I don’t see his value being more than that.

Boeser has more value than a bottom pairing D. Again undervaluing Boeser who would have been 2nd on the Jackets in scoring last season…

A 19 year old struggled in his sophomore season on an absolutely horrible team.
That takes a top prospect to bottom of the barrel I guess.  Lol!

And yes, Boeser has ZERO value.
    Im not undervaluing him whatsoever.
The team spent a year trying to publicly trade him.
Then they let everyone know they have his agent working on finding a trade for him.
Over a year.  Not a sniff.
If you see that as a valuable asset, we do t need to co tubule this conversation

Sillinger does not project to be a first line center at all. At this point he’s looking like a third line center.

Disagree, however I forgot they just got Fantilli.
That still doesn’t take his value down, just makes him more available than before.

    32 minutes ago, DeNiro said:

Columbus has Fantilli and Johnson as their top two they can afford to dump Sillinger. A 2nd round pick is a fair price for him.

You will not be getting 12 overall for a 2nd 2 years later.
He scored over 30 as an 18 year old with a garbage team.

    32 minutes ago, DeNiro said:

As for Peeke he’s not a cap dump but he definitely doesn’t have more value than Boeser. Columbus is very deep on D and Peeke will be playing on the bottom pair there in no time. He’s as much a top 4 as Gudbranson is.

He absolutely has more value than Boeser.
Look no farther than Brock has zero. Hahah

Peeke isn’t awesome by any means, but he is better than any of our RHD not named Hronek.

You’re overvaluing these players big time.

I’d say you are under valuing them and for some reason giving Brock value, which has been proven to be untrue

  16. 5 hours ago, DeNiro said:

Boeser and a 2nd for Peeke and Sillinger

Sillinger was a 12 overall just 2 years ago and is projecting to be one of their best forwards.
Peeke isn’t a negative value cap dump, which at this moment Brock is. (His agent and the team tried for a year to get him traded.  No one would bite).

So basically a top 4 RHD and a future top line centre for a 2nd as well as taking on Brock’s poor contract.

Would you trade Lekkermaki and a top 4 dman for Brock and a 2nd?
Also keep in mind Sillinger has more value than Lekkermaki.

Your proposal is hilariously sided to us

showed up out of shape once. Learned his lesson.

TWELVE MINUTES AND FORTY FIVE SECONDS

Do you understand what Im referring to?

his ICE TIME. Tell me how many guys can score CONSISTENTLY with under 13 mins TOI. Oh and zero PP1 time and whats leftover for PP2. I’ll be waiting an eternity, oh and if they are scoring, chances are they will be rewarded with more ice time and PP1 time…. Unlike Virtanen.

He made choices to drink water in a private bar party.

    Guilty of alcohol consumption

He made choices to drink too much on a night a couple weeks before the season started.

Video of him puking in a toilet.

    accused of rape.
    assumed guilty.

But hey guess what the verdict was! NOT GUILTY. A fabricated story that had his career in the NHL come to a stop. Almost ruined his f***ing life and after everything around him is falling a part, you expect this YOUNG adult almost still a bloody teenager, is to just be okay? Not lash out and have break downs??? His whole story is in the bloody tabloids thats a lot for someone his age to handle. There is an actual VICTIM in his case and its Virtanen. But hey what happened to that little b**** who falsely accused someone and pretty much ruined their life??????? How many times do women falsely accuse a man and in the end there is no punishment. The accusation is taken so seriously, but when they find out the truth “ah you’re good Jake, dont worry about it. And you little miss muffin, you shouldnt do that. No go say sorry and go home” like what a f***ing joke. The mental stress that Virtanen endured is not at all taken into consideration.

You all assume the worst because you hate him. You have zero empathy or logical reasoning for your cut throat opinions. You never once let go of his early mistakes and you ignore allllllll the signs he made conscious changes.

Honestly do you think Virtanen is the only guy shotgunning beers? You’re choosing to judge a teenager in his own home town who has all sorts of friends living it up around him and throwing parties and hes always getting an invite because all his friends are right here in town. Its the only reason you hear about him, BECAUSE HE A LOCAL AND POPULAR AND IN THE SHOW. He is surrounded by influence good and bad. Young kids love to party, guess what there was a ton of influence from everyone in town for him to party. Any other city and he has far less influences around him, just his teammates. Worst crew ever would have never existed, the shotgun would have never happened and been a thing, the rape accusations most likely never would have come into question. Vancouver was probably the worst thing for him to have any chance at staying focused andcsucceeding. Yet despite the shotgunning beers, the hot dogs, the one season he came in out of shape, he still showed progression. Point totals increased each season, you cant deny that and he was given less and less opportunities as he progressed. Not very fair. For you to judge a teenager/yoong adult who was still growing and learning to mature says a lot about you and your judgement. You ignore the bar he was at and drank only water, but you go off about his beer shotgun when he was younger..Your view is as grown up as Virtanen at 19. You are an adult and should be able to see the changes and applaud that. Not ridicule him for his past. We only hear about it because he is the local guy.

Easily one of the worst posts I’ve ever seen in my years on these boards.
You have got to be a Virtanen, or at the least, part of the worst crew ever.
