  1. Always thought Philly looked like a more suitable trade-partner, Pittsburgh doesn't really have that many attractive assets. There's no way Despres/Dumoulin, Sutter and a 1st rounder with little value will cut it. Sure, trade that very important 2nd line carrier for a 3rd line center that we could have used 2 years ago. Get that decent defenceman-prospect that will go straight to the minors when we have a healthy line-up, and when we have upcoming, similiar players like Corrado, Hutton. If Pittsburgh would consider moving a promising guy like Maata, i guess you could look into it, but seems like he's untouchable. Defence isn't our problem, we could use a puckmoving defenseman though, so i guess Pouliot would be quite interesting if he's put into consideration. Think Bennett is pretty overrated, and it's pretty sad when you realize how weak Pittsburgh offensive prospect-pool is, when that is exactly what this team need. If you move Kesler, in our situation, you obviously want a young, promising center in return, since we aren't that deep on that position. Prospect wise, we only have Horvat, with Gaunce being an outsider. Philly are deep in that regard. I would be happy if we ended up with either Couturier/B.Schenn, with a few more pieces that you could only speculate about.

  2. We trade Tanev and this defence becomes one of the weakest in the league. Even though he's eating up 20+ minutes he's still one of the most underated guys on this team. Try and get Garrison, Hamhuis or Edler to waive their NTCs to go to Colorado instead.

Depends what you mean by "underrating". Even though Tanev is great and all, do you honestly prefer us trading Hamhuis/Garrison, one of them who just made the Canadian olympic team? If so, then i think you're overrating him.

  3. You got to give up something of good value to get something of good value. Canucks position of strength is D and canucks position of weakness is goal scoring. Its natural to trade from a position of strength to improve areas of weakness. Trading a top Dman for a goal scorer makes way too much sense for Vancouver. Plus, us as canucks fans always overvalue our young talent. Give it one more year and all those individuals that hated the Cody for Zach trade will be loving it...book it! A trade of Tanev, Gaunce, Hansen or pick for E. Kane would be unbelievable for Vancouver. Guys like Kane don't come around too often and become available in a trade even less frequently.

Agree. People here are overvaluing our players way too much, at the same time as they are undervaluing Kane. Edler won't cut it, not after the season he's having. I'm a big fan of Tanev, but if we could package him to get Kane, i would be all over it. As long as it wouldn't cost us Horvat. I mean realistically, what are the odds that our prospects like Shinkaruk, Jensen and Gaunce will turn out as good as Kane? And Kane isn't even that much older than any of them. He's only 22. He would be a great offensive player to build around when guys like the Sedins are done.

And he's not only a goalscorer, but a physical player, leading his team in hits, even though he have missed 8 games. 35th place in the league in hits. He's also a good skater with size. I would say he's sitting on a pretty good contract too for another 4 years, considering the contracts players are getting these days. Apart from his "attitude problems", how could you not want Evander Kane? He's that young top6 forward everybody here wants.

  4. Not that it has much to do with Gaunce, but seems like 2013 2nd rounder Remi Elie from the London Knights has been traded to Belleville for overage defenceman Brady Austin. New linemate for Gaunce?

  5. Do you know what a top 4 defenceman is?

It's a defenceman who plays either 1st of 2nd pairing, usually getting 20+ minutes a night that can take a regular shift even strength and play on at least one of the special teams.

Well, you have to slot in anyone on those spots... For an example, if your defence is weak, and you have no better option than Aaron Rome, you slot him in on a top4 role, that doesn't really mean Rome automatically becomes a top4 d-man. That says more about the team than Aaron Rome.

  6. What the F are you talking about.

    1. Oilers are building a new arena as we speak

    2. The Oilers now have five top 4 defencemen.

    3. Dubnyk can go either way, just like Schnieder

    4. Oilers were one of the best places to coach. It was recently that the coaches started coming in and out.

    5. The Oilers have one owner, Darryl Katz of Rexall pharmacies. He is one of the richest people in Canada.

    6. All players hit free agency, same time or not it doesn't make much of a difference

Are you really serious about your 2nd point?

  7. What a sick ???? season!

The feeling to watch the match with half a dozen friends, all talking about how easy it will be for Bayern, everyone except for me cheered for Bayern. They were mocking me hard when Müller scored, and even I thought it was over then. The feeling when Drogba makes it 1-1, the feeling when Cech saves the penalty from Robben on overtime, but most of all the feeling when Drogba scored the winning goal: unreal. I never had the guts to even dream about this before the rematch against Napoli, the games against Barcelona or prior to the meeting today. My pals were SO silent after Drogbas penalty, and after a while they whined really hard about how unfair it was. HATERS GONNA HATE.

Must be really tough for Bayern. 2nd in the league. 2nd in the german cup. And 2nd in Champions League at home: After penalties. Feel really sorry for Schweinsteiger, really like him as a player and have been dreaming about Chelsea having him in their squad.

  8. I would say maybe a TJ Oshie type of player, but not as physical. Not the biggest but pretty strong for his size. Has good technique. He has only 1 goal so far, but he has shown earlier that he can put the puck in the net with sweet snipes.

  9. okay so Rodin is gonna play in the SEL next year unless he wows at training camp which he probably won't yet. But will he be able the play in the WJC again or is he too old now? because I really wanna see him play

No, Rödin turns 20 this year.

^ Peter Andersson will probably play

  10. Sadly Brynäs just lost again and Djurgården eliminated them in the first round. I didn't saw the game, but i think Czarnecki should have made some changes. All the games i've watched Djurgården dominated, even when Brynäs won. And if i was a Brynäs-fan i would not accept the poor producing. He should have made some line changes already after the second game, you could see that if Brynäs would continue playing like they had done so far after the second game, it would be damn tough for them to win the series. As i have said many times in this thread, Rödin and Järnkrok should have been moved up to at least the third line.

  11. on second thought, I don't know about using a high draft pick on another center. I know it is an important position, and drafting the BPA is normally the best thing to do, but our past 2 first rounders seem pretty good.

maybe we could go for Viktor Svedberg. 6' 9" Dman.

Agree. As Johanlake said, Järnkrok has great potential. On the other hand, we have H.Sedin for 4 seasons to come and Kesler for 6 seasons. And we have Hodgson (most points in WJC last year) and Schroeder (have already written American history with his American junior performances). I would rather get a good defenceman or a good winger, but i wouldn't mind having him since he shines of potential.

  12. Did he at least look dangerous? Or looked like a player capable of generating chances?

You didn't saw him much in the game. But again he's playing in the fourth line and i'm not sure why he's playing there. I mean he was tied second with André Petersson in points in WJC. And André played in the first line and Anton played in the third line (!) . He should at least play in the third line. Anton isn't even a fourth line type of player. He showed in game 1 against Djurgården that he's there to produce points, not defend against the other team's best line.

  13. Rödin had no points in game 2, but at least Brynäs won. But you could see that Rödin had energy when he was on the ice, and he and Calle Järnkrok deserves to play in a better line than the fourth line. But he need to build some muscles, in AHL and NHL there are much more physical play than in Elitserien. Often he lose his balance when opponents makes physical contact.

Here are the highlights btw http://tv.hockeyligan.se/main.aspx?contentid=53671160833

Brynäs tied the game series, 1-1.

    Best of 7.
