Hey everyone, I didn't have a chance to watch the game tonight. Whats up with Richardson? Injury or did he get pulled of for a pending trade? I REALLY hope we don't trade him. He's a guy who is worth a lot more to us than we could get for him.
-
Any news on who will be backing up for Eddie Lack tonight?

Philly has so much more to offer! Pits is kind of depleted prospect wise in my opinion. I would love to see something work out with the Flyers.

Anyone notice that the Swedes look to be offside on most of their rushes??
I'm really glad that it's not just me! I was thinking that it's so early that I was hallucinating!
-
Crosby and Kunitz have looked really good But honestly... They've been playing good
-
Them Swedes are straight from a GQ mag. Too bad I can't find an image though.
Good to hear. It shows that they are proud to represent their country and do not take their fortunes for granted. Anyone could throw on a windsuit in 30 seconds. But putting on a suit takes time and shows respect. The wind suits make the players look like slobs in my opinion
-
Canadians looked like posers though..
How so? I don't agree at all.
-
I agree with the Canadians looking real classy coming to the rink for the games. The American hockey team was dressed like table tennis players
-
Best part of the game so far: Technical difficulties with Glen Healys mic.
I really think that he got pissed off and threw his mic off. Which makes me even happier. The last 3 times he tried talking he got interrupted It seemed like he was starting to get pissy

Ride Along 8/10
Pleasantly surprised with how good the movie actually was.

I can't believe more people aren't happy with this trade. Its nothing huge but it is still a pretty good return for Weise. I think people have it in their heads to attack MG no matter what he does

YIKES!!!!! This could get UGLY!

Here is the lines from the Practice thread:
@SNETPacific: Based on socks at practice #Canuck lines are - Higgins-Kesler-Burrows, Daniel-Dalpe-Kassian, Weise-Richardson-Hansen, Booth-Lain-Sestito

Wolf of Wall Street- 7.5/10
I went into this one with wayyyyy to high of expectations. It really affected what I thought of the movie (hence the lower rating). I presumed there would be a little bit more on the finance side in the movie. But I'm sure there would be a lot of people who wouldn't enjoy that. Probably a movie that I will have to watch again and see what I think

For all of you homers who think that Hartley was an arse for putting his 4th liners to start the game ... please read this article.
Where do you think Hartley got the idea from?
http://sports.yahoo....38086--nhl.html
On Dec. 20, 2011, coach John Tortorella’s New York Rangers visited their rivals the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center in Newark for the first time that season. It was a key division game, and one that would set the tone for the rest of their season series.
The Rangers, as the road team, would determine the personnel on the opening faceoff. In their previous two road games, New York started No. 1 center Brad Richards’ line for the opening draw.
In this game, Tortorella opted for a different look: Fourth liners Mike Rupp, Ruslan Fedotenko and Brandon Prust.
Devils Coach Pete DeBoer responded in kind: Rather than throwing Zach Parise to the lions, like Randy Carlyle did when he lined Phil Kessel up next to John Scott this season, DeBoer skated out Cam Janssen, Eric Boulton and Tim Sestito.
Nice find! That throws an interesting twist on things. I'm one of the fans that completely supports Torts for responding with his fourth line. But I've never thought Hartley was an arse for the move. Interesting little fact for all of those who did though

You really have nothing to gain from beating up a lesser opponent in a fight. If anything, it would light a fire under your opponent's ass and make them play harder. Which they did, yesterday. Why try to motivate them, when they're already a broken bunch?
It was to send a message in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't matter if its Boston, Florida, or any team in between. If you want to be the physical team (that you need to be in order to compete in the tough division) then you have to consistently answer the bell. I love what Torts did.
But I will say that you made some good points. Especially this last one. Although you probably don't see it on here, you probably have the more popular opinion about the situation.
-
Torts didn't necessary needed to put the Twins out there, but if he wanted to, he could of just put Sestito with the twins to protect them. Worst case scenario, McGrattan and Sestito would have fought and the Canucks get away with a powerplay.
You say, we have been playing with the scoreboard mentality for years now, but that mentality is how you win hockey games. We didn't get to the Stanley Cup Finals with our goonary on the ice.
What I'm saying is putting anyone besides our own tough guys is bowing down to the other team. They put those 3 goons out knowing that the Sedins normally would be starting. Putting any skilled players out there is not standing up for your own star players. The message was that the Canucks will not allow you to try and pull a stunt like that with our star players.
My opinion is that the "get them on the scoreboard mentality" will always lose to a PROPERLY executed "physical mentality". I made the word properly uppercase because its the most important word in that sentence. Skilled teams can and absolutely have won against tougher teams. But when executed correctly the physical team will win.

I honestly didn't like it.
The Canucks are were a fragile bunch, to begin with. Why on earth would you want to risk losing your players to a game misconduct or injury, when you're fricking fighting for a playoff spot? I get Torts was trying to make a point. Fine, do it on the scoreboard, don't stoop to their level, make them pay by dancing circles around them.
If I were other teams around the league, I would take notes on this. By sending their 4th liners at the start of each game and try the bait Torts again.
I think the reason why Torts responded with his 4th line needs to be looked at closer. Hartley knows that Hank is injured badly and all day it was talked about him being a game time decision. But we all knew he was going to play... because he's Hank. Putting out those 3 forwards that he did was suppose to be a clear shot at the Sedins. So if we put the 3rd line out there. That means that the Canucks are letting the other team push them around! Torts would not be standing up for his players. Teams would realize that the Canucks can still be pushed around.
Say we put out a different line and we "beat them on the scoreboard". We even "danced circles around them". Who cares? You are not going to be receiving respect from any other team in the league by beating Calgary 6-1. We played with the "beat them on the scoreboard" mentality for years before Torts got here. It was so frustrating to watch. It also gave the Canucks a lot of press about being a push over team. If you starting throwing hits at a team who wants to beat you on the scoreboard; you wear them down and win. Boston, LA, SJ, Chicago (few years ago) all know this. But if your team fires back no matter how tough they truly are. They create that chemistry that can make any team win 16 games in the playoff. Playing the tough, hard nosed style builds a team. It's the teams that would go to war for each other that end up being the best.
I realize I'm not going to change your opinions on the way the game should be played. But I just wanted to share mine.

F U PJ. I hope someone finds you in an alley and puts you in your place. This is not the PJ Stock show. We do not want to hear you rant for 2 minutes about your crap. You do not have the respect from ANYONE to be attacking a team like that.

I love these kind of physical tough games

Sestito-Lain-Weise. #Canucks
Now that's a fourth line that could do some damage

Dallas buyer club. 7/10
Expected it to be something I would want to stop watching after about 20 minutes. But it was done well. Pretty good acting for an okay story in my opinion
