The league has to implement a luxury tax. I mean even teams like Seattle going into year 3 of existence is capped out. Good for re-building teams the stand to gain some pretty good assets in terms of picks or young players. Or league minimum players will be without a NHL job as they get buried and teams ice less than full rosters.
Leafs going to buy out Murray for sure. Then probably have to pay an asset to get rid of somebody. Love how Leafs talk basically hated Jarnkrok and how in the world he was able to get a term contract, but now Leafs media is saying how useful a player he is and how much of a loss it would be to the Leafs roster lol

don't draft small goalies.
even if they seem like swell kids who try real hard.
They just can't solely rely on reaction saves. Still have to be positionally and technically sound, which DiPietro hasnt got better at.
Juuse Saros says hi

Sens also had to contend with the fact that not a lot of teams had cap space to sign DeBrincat and they didnt have to take much salary back

The Canucks may want to trade Garland first but they probably will be forced to trade Beauvillier. Garland played pretty decent once Tocchet took over, so I don't think its so bad perhaps Garland can be moved at the trade deadline or next offseason.

Remember when people called Francis clueless for how he handled the expansion draft and the inaugural season... Yeah, good times.
The question will be if he's aggressive enough when the team is good enough to "go for it". But he does make moves that work almost all the time it seems.

A Granlund buy out on the cards I reckon.
Yikes! For just 21 Games + 2nd round pick

Instead of bargain basement Bergevin its now bargain basement Dubas. Not sure, they are still an old team with an injury prone goalie signed long term. Time will tell if it was Shanahan that saved Dubas from himself or if Dubas is a "genius" some make him to be.

If that's the case, I wouldn't mind throwing a league minimum contract at Zadina unless he's some kind of locker room cancer. We would obviously have to trade a winger first though.
Don't think we are really in a position to do that. Maybe if we were one of the better teams in the league then ok, but we can't ruin our own young players. Hard pass for me. Remember Cody Hodgson? On the surface seems like Yzerman got tired of the issues and the performance wasnt enough to justify keeping him around. We've already had a few swings and misses, and doesnt warrant a valuable contract slot that could be used on a college free agent etc.
Given Holland drafted him, I could see Edmonton take a flyer but they have no cap space even league minimum

I have a strong feeling Julien Brisebois was the true maestro all along
He's basically buying time while the prospects cook.
Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, Cossa is not too shabby on the high end. He needs some centres though which is probably why he reached a bit for Danielson and gave so much term to Compher and Copp before.
Brisebois was just more aggressive to turn the roster over and go after the cup at all cost. Remember when we wanted to suck for longer to get more players, except we've kind of done so without trying.

Hopefully, Myers stays healthy. We trade him either after the All-star break or at the deadline. He's worth at least a 3rd if he has a decent year, which hopefully they reduce his minutes down to 15-18mins/game.

Tank for Eiserman

If he’s physically not able to play?
Hes had a long history of injuries.
He'd go to LTIR, and get his money then no?

Who were they even competing against for Domi?
I can't see Murray retiring he's owed 5M lol. Chicago could take him on for multiple picks.

Toronto going to have buyers remorse on Tree? And want Dubas back?
Dubas overpaid their big 4 and has paid futures upon futures to support them only for 1 playoff series win. The aggressive move now would be to pay multiple 1st round picks to get off that Tavares contract, but they wont do that.

I'd rather just throw Silovs in there. For those who think we should groom him or he's too young or take our time - he just came up 2nd best to Bedard for best young player and you know Bedard is going to be 1C for Chicago next year. I think Silovs can handle 20 NHL games next year easily.
Do you want him to be your starter if Demko gets injured or misses any time? Then it becomes a duo of Silovs and Martin, if thats the case it would be tank for Celebrini.

Are we going to trade for a backup goalie? Or wait until later in free agency and pick up whoever for cheap 1 year deal?

He's probably betting he can get even more next time after the cap goes up

4 years woof, for a guy that doesnt have nastiness in his game. They are really walking it back and expecting a different result arent they

The return of Smith is just a third round pick. I cant believe.
Pretty much win at all cost per the owner. More surprised teams bend over backwards to take the entire cap and not force Vegas to retain. Some cap gymnastics is going to be required by Dubas because that forward group cap allocation is looking worse than ours.

Allvin just said otherwise - expects to stay at 11.
He didn't mention moving down, only discussion about moving up were pretty much done with which is not surprising. It's been 2 offseasons and they've done nothing of what they said which was creating more cap space. If all they do is trade Dickensen, buy out OEL and trade Myers at the deadline, that's not exactly creating more cap space. Dickensen was to be cap compliant and OEL/Myers require no leg work. Would be underwhelming given the bigger management group assembled.

At least Iafallo is out of our division. Always seemed to score against us.

Feel like LA was missing a superstar upfront but I don't think this is it. Who knows maybe they pick up Kane or something when he comes back.
