  1. That really does make me wonder: in 2008, in that first month or so that Mike Gillis was GM, who would make the call as to who the Canucks drafted? I mean, the guy's just been named GM and has been on the job for 6 weeks. Ron Delorme and the scouting personnel? Or would Gillis be able to pick up on all the info that they had accumulated over the past year or so in that amount of time? Dave Nonis would've known all about the players that they were scouting due to the constant reports and feedback from his staff. 'Cos I seriously doubt Nonis would've taken the time to tell him who he would draft had he not been fired... In that '08 draft, would Gillis or the scouts have had the final say?
  2. So with 2 goals tonight, I believe Burrows has set a franchise record for goals in the month of January with 15! Go Burrows!!!
  3. Good to see Rodin finally playing meaningful minutes in the SEL.
  4. After about 15 months and 142 pages of endless bashing - along with an epic -379 rating - you STILL have the courage to show up here and say that? Really? So... you still think that we don't need him?
  5. lol I was referring to the guy in the photo ... whichever one the guy is
  6. I know that's a Halloween outfit, but it doesn't seem like him at all...
  7. Burrows is awesome, simply put. He deserves all the good things that have been happening to him, and through he remains modest and hardworking. He is THE fan favourite for a reason. Referring to what he said about Auger, the world will see that Burrows is right. This allegation is simply too serious for anyone to ignore, and way too serious for anyone to lie straight up to the media just like that. We support you all the way Burr!
  8. It'd be pretty nice if he went to Everett after this season and played with Kellan Tochkin - they might be good linemates with each other... who knows?
  9. Don't worry, Schroeder's just getting to find his rhythm. He's only getting started. Just watch - he's gonna start ripping it up! The only thing I don't like about all this is how if you have a bad weekend on the ice you have to wait about another week to get back in action and redeem yourself again. Even if you have a good weekend you'd still want to get back in a game as soon as possible anyway... Oh well, it is college hockey after all. It is what it is.
  10. Anyone able to watch the Gophers on TV? I remember last year they were on the Big 10 Network for Shaw TV at least once (I use Telus now) so I'm not sure if you can still watch them this season...
  11. But I thought they'd have to at least make an effort to sign him first, otherwise I could see quite a few teams trading away players for prospects that have been labelled 'bust' in order to get compensatory picks just by not signing them. Or is it just me and it happens all the time? What kind of compensation do you get if you don't sign a prospect, say, from the CHL or European leagues and what deadlines would those be?
  12. Why on earth wouldn't the Sharks sign the kid? They'd essentially have traded Ehrhoff for Rahimi in that case, and San Jose is pretty decent at drafting too - you'd think they would know what they were getting when they made that trade.
  13. Good post. I always wanted White to succeed simply because of the sheer number of people on CDC who labelled him a bust, and now I find it kind of funny that White is off to a decent start after we traded him to SJ. I mean c'mon, it's only been 2 years since he was drafted and he's already been called a bust?? Really?? If we give up on players this quickly, is it any wonder why the Canucks haven't been particularly good at drafting and won a Cup? Still, you have to give something to get something in return. I agree though, SJ wasn't just looking to dump salary and call it a deal, no matter what their cap situation was like, especially when there were likely other teams apart from the Canucks who also had Ehrhoff on their radar. But I'd still do that trade in a heartbeat anyway. Now I hope White succeeds simply because he's with Schroeder playing for the Gophers, and if he does well they're likely going to do well too. Also I hope he has a great season just to prove all his critics and haters wrong.
