To Car: beau, Myers, podz, 1st pick 2024 (unprotected)
to van: Pesce, teravainen
money is about the same, and ONLY trading a first if we are on the cusp of the playoffs
sign Pesce to a 6.5m/7yr deal…he’ll be looking at severson/graves type money
then sign bear to a 1yr/1m in Dec

In any Pesce trade I’d expect Carolina to want to immediate help with scoring
beau, hoglander or podz, 1st pick 2024 (unprotected)
only moving that pick if we are going for the playoffs so making it unprotected doesn’t matter as it’ll fall around the 18th pick

Essentially Pesce was given permission to talk to two other teams recently about an extension but couldn’t come to terms.
Carolina may keep him for the time being, but after this season it looks like he’ll be moving on…at least at this point

The number 1 need for this team is finding a top 4 d-man to be a long term partner for hughes
Pesce is the guy we all hope for and I don’t know if CAR has the money to keep him around but he is American and may not be so keen on paying those Vancouver/Canadian taxes

now that’s a blueline that can compete against any team in the show

Great move
don’t let this fester with the Vancouver media, just name your guy and get to work.
petey and Miller will be A’s I assume
secondly, I don’t think petey has the right personality to deal with the demands of being a captain and Miller is just TOO honest sometimes to be in that role every day thus hughes is the right call

This isn’t really news…?
we kinda already saw this coming months ago
the Canucks can massage their cap with the roster they have with running a 22 man roster if need be or mikheyev goes on IR to start the year so there isn’t too much pressure

If the Canucks could pull something like that off our blueline would be completely remodeled in a few months time

peeke has holes in his game just like everyone other dman who’s ever played the game but I truly believe hughes could elevate his game…look how good he made juulsen look

Great deal both sides
Gotta think this deal is going to get brought up once or twice in the petey negotiations

I was hoping for under 1m but 1.1m is still a great deal
his cap hit can still be buried if he doesn’t take the next step

Grain of salt:
: "I think Tyler Myers is going to get dealt...I believe that bonus was paid this week, based on the info I have. If it hasn't...the Canucks can opt to pay it early so they can facilitate a trade. That is an option."
I’d take that with the smallest grain of salt possible

I ASSUME this includes a 6.5m/8yr extension for pesce and this would free up around 6.5m in cap space for the 23-24 season to make another move…
-
Tidy little piece of business getting him on a 2 year deal
Spending some time in Abby will make him a better player in the long term
Playing the slow game with young players is always the best way to go

I think the Canucks only way to really improve this D and put a cherry on top of of their good moves this off season is a TRUE top 4 guy to play with hughes
pesce, Carlo, tanev(?) etc
Related move as well is moving out myers 6m and moving that money further up the line up

Says who ? I don't recall him making much actual defensive errors
He’s a real good number 7 guy but a legit playoff contender won’t have him in their top 6

Good penalty killer
I’m so sick of having a pathetic penalty kill And he’ll help

Not an everyday NHL dman so that’s a bit rich
good for him but we can see why the Canucks went with juulsen
-
1 yr/1m? Sure
I’d be shocked if teams are offering him much more than that

poolman? It would be great if we knew if he can still play

Pesce is the perfect partner for Quinn BUT he’ll come in at 6.5m x 8 years at 29 years of age and that’s a similar deal hronek is going to get
be careful what you wish for…

Desmith has .914 career save %
he isn’t some chump there’s value here
Canucks couldn’t run it back with Martin and expect him play 25 games
