    Reinbacher or Moore territory

Teams usually “reach” for C and D early in the draft so I would guess reinbacher or moore to be gone 3 or 4 spots before van can get a shot

one of 3 scenarios is going to happen at 11

    1) Canucks pick a LD or RD. Either side fills a need

    2) pick a C which they desperately need

    3) pick a winger who was slated to go higher but slipped because D and C were prioritized in the top 10

    it’s a classic win, win…win

That's probably it. Canucks (competent) D depth:

    Hughes - Bear

    OEL - Hronek

    Dermott (?) - Myers

    Rathbone - Burroughs

    Brisebois - Juulsen

    Wolanin - Johansson (?)

Where would Livingstone or Malinski fit in? I can't see Tocchet just handing some NHL newbie a top pairing assignment with Hughes.

I would be SHOCKED if dermott is back but I’m scribbling 5 or 6 of those guys into ABBY for next year

OEL isn't going anywhere, but Bear may not be resigned. The right side has been our Achilles heel for a long time, and good righties are typically harder to find than lefties. I really think that should be the priority. Not against signing Hirose, but I would personally be prioritizing the right side.

We need help on both sides

Do us fans realize how great a player Hughes is? He absolutely dominates games, and is doing it with pretty much AHL level partners. Imagine what he would have accomplished if we kept Tanev, his ideal complimentary partner.

For a franchise that has never had a true top pair D it doesn’t make sense he isn’t talked about more

hughes under tocchet is a Norris trophy caliber D

I like this idea. It's pretty much what I wanted us to do with Stecher. Bear is a perfectly fine 3rd pair guy. 1.5mil isn't breaking the bank. It just works. Also kicks the can down the road on Woo potentially developing into roster piece. If he can manage it at all.

It it idealizing the Canucks blueline a bit that they’ll add two top 4 D in the summer but that would be a pretty good D core if they can pull it off
