That's a new one. The electoral college and first pass the post system helps smaller states/province gain more impact than what their population size dictates.

People that complain about the EC usually complain about smaller states having may more voice than larger states, not the other way around.

Lol what? Alberta is unrepresented and Quebec is over represented.

The systems are garbage. Sweeping two provinces in Canada gives you a majority.  In the US about 6 or 7 states can make you president.

Exclusive: Obama says in private call that 'rule of law is at risk' in Michael Flynn case

    https://news.yahoo.com/obama-irule-of-law-michael-flynn-case-014121045.html

The Flynn case was invoked by Obama as a principal reason that his former administration officials needed to make sure former Vice President Joe Biden wins the November election against President Trump. “So I am hoping that all of you feel the same sense of urgency that I do,” he said. “Whenever I campaign, I’ve always said, ‘Ah, this is the most important election.’ Especially obviously when I was on the ballot, that always feels like it's the most important election. This one — I’m not on the ballot — but I am pretty darn invested. We got to make this happen.”

“That’s why, I, by the way, am going to be spending as much time as necessary and campaigning as hard as I can for Joe Biden,”

    ----------------------

Obama will be supporting Joe in a big way. The Flynn situation has got him fired up.

He supported Clinton in a big way..that didn't turn out so well.

Well, you did post that you wouldn't hand over you guns that appear on the list ... so ... kinda nailed the WAAAA part.  Also, you endlessly slag on JT ... so .. kinda nailed that part.

Fine, you got me on the TRUMP part.  That being said, understanding what out neighbours to the south are up to is kinda important.  You know, they are a major trading partner and a major purchaser of oil that originated from the province that starts with an A.  So being able to vote in the US has nothing to do with my following of their comings and goings.  You don't see it that way.  Sad.

    1) I actually get to keep my guns.

    2) So you're justifying your focus on the US but criticize me for my focus on my government in my country. :picard:

And maybe these law abiding citizens should just get over it.  Instead of acting like petulant children stomping their feet that their shiny toys are no longer legal.  I'm not anti-gun and you still haven't convinced us that you need these guns that are being banned.  All you've got is they are toys.  Your arguments that they are necessary boils down to things that can easily be rectified by other means.  I'd rather have law enforcement carrying heat than paranoid Cletus carrying heat.  And so do the majority of Canadians.

And maybe you should get over it. Trump won in a country you can't vote in instead of acting like a petulant child stomping your feet.

Better than your brilliance.  WAAAAAAAAAA  I DONT" WANNA!!!!!!!!   JT IS TERRIBLE!!!   WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I don't recall that post. Great rebuttal but given your earlier post I'm not surprised by what you mustered up here.

Lol hey I just thought you're WAAAAAAA TRUMP IS TERRIBLE AND I'M OBSESSED WITH HIM!

let me know when you can vote in the US.

Criminals gonna criminal isn't a retort.  Let's charge them when they break the law.  Let's increase the GST 1% and use the money to fund an expansion of law enforcement to catch these criminals you are so worried about.  Done with the criminals gonna criminal.

So how does not being able to own a semi-auto shiny weapon make your life worse.  If you are worried about security for yourself, there are plenty of pump action shotguns you can buy for that.  But with a massively expanded law enforcement to address your criminals gonna criminal fear, you shouldn't need those guns for security.  My guess is you should invest your money in a decent home alarm system.

Such brilliance you always come up with. Spend a billion dollars to take guns from legal, law abiding gun owners then tax everyone so there is more money to fight crime. I haven't the slightest clue how your brain comes up with this nonsense.

Semi auto for hunting is for crappy hunters  bolts are more dependable and more accurate....

So glad to see JT living up to his campaign promises and banning assault style weapons....

No question now JT will get re-elected....   He is such a clever politician

He must be because he got your vote and has you constantly saying how great he is even after he bought TMX. Remember all the things you said?

I'm so sick of the "criminals don't use legal guns" chestnut.  It's tired and old and should be banned along with the guns.

Of course you are it doesn't fit your narrative.

    13 minutes ago, kingofsurrey said:

It doesn't.  It just stops people from having assault style guns   in their basements that they can show off to their friends........

Unfortunately  some people never grow up.

Still waiting for the definition of assault style.

You don't see American politics in a different way?

You see their society in a different way as you point out may times when discussing gun crime.

I find America and the way they conduct their politics quite different. Canada is starting to look like it in some ways. Sad to say that, imo,  a lot of US- like attitude and displays seem to originate out of AB.

But Canada's overall response to covid alone shows the difference, our leader has responded well as has our society when compared to the states.

    Wasn't my point.

An article, or a blog by a guy from Prince George? Hard to tell....

Anyway, he's just expressing the same opinions as the pro-gun folks ITT. Some fair points I suppose, but pure opinion and nothing new. I'm guessing you posted it because he's from BC?

Geez sounds like the governments pov but of course when they say it you take it as the gospel.

Interesting enough when it's American politics you act in a different way.

I think it's safe to say no one should listen to anything you have to say.

    Just my opinion.

In history? Come on man.  That’s pretty myopic.  It’s not a great contract.  But the worst in NHL history? A statement like that  tells me you’re young and have no real grasp of NHL history.

What about that goalie that was signed to a life time deal - ah yeah - Rick Dipietro.

That was a bad contract. And it ran for 15 years!!!

Kovalchucks' contract signed with NJ was pretty bad as well. AAV 6.67 per year. My goodness.

Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Wade Redden, just off the top of my head.

Yes, that's what is I meant in my last line. You can't keep throwing your beliefs in someone's face in an attempt to harass them. I can't go up to someone who is trans and repeatedly let them know that I don't believe they are the gender they want to be referred by. This includes deliberately using the wrong pronoun even after they have let you know their preference. I think we can extend such courtesy to all humans to refer to them respectfully and not in a derogatory manner.

Exactly why I have an issue with those in the religious community attacking people for this.

Its the job of the courts to interpret the law. Words can have multiple definitions, that doesn't mean that you can claim that something is violation of the law/civil rights if it doesn't meet the intent of the law. The intent of the law was never to prosecute those who mistakenly use the incorrect pronoun. Courts also rely on precedent and there is no precedent to make such a claim.

The intent of the law was to go after people who will harass the LGBTQ community, so unless you are a massive a-hole and love to throw your beliefs in front of people to denigrate them, you are safe from prosecution.

See the law isn't even that strict. It gets way to much misinformation, you can say your beliefs but you can't verbally attack people with your beliefs.

Not saying anyone in this thread but generally it's religious people that have issues with this however they very clearly missed the words of Jesus.
